Description

Be prepared with Chapin’s 40-gallon water tank. This general utility tank is UV protected and made from chemical-resistant poly. It’s translucent so you can see the liquid level and the 6-inch tank opening makes it easy to fill. Quickly empty the tank using the 2-inch drain with a 3/4-inch tethered cap. Fantastic tank, would buy again, I specifically bought a shower head attachment for it. I'm using this as an off-grid water storage tank. Every few days I bring home 2-3 of the 5gal size and it's been perfect for my needs. Washing dishes, taking baths, refill water, etc. overall I'm very happy with it. Mine appears to have a few minor cosmetic issues. It looks like some debris fell into the plastic during the mold process because it has a few dark spots embedded in the tank. Hopefully it's not toxic 🤷 For the people saying that it's leaking- either yours is missing the rubber washer, it's backwards or misaligned, you tightened it too much, or you added Teflon (if it has a washer/gasket, DON'T USE TEFLON) ... show more

It leaks where the drain fitting is. I assumed this would be the case because of other reviews. However, I dont feel like it deserves 4 or less stars. After all, its the best deal per gallon on all of Amazon. So a trip to the hardware store just to buy $8 worth of parts is still a great deal. Or, if theres some silicone caulk or an equivalent, that would be enough to stop the leak. ... show more

Bought this to carry water in my UTV to water plantings that we can't reach with a hose. Tank itself fits well in my UTV and seems adequately sturdy, but is hard to strap securely to the bed (curved sides without mounting points or good recesses to hold straps). But the huge FAIL is that the plastic fittings for the drain outlet are really cheap and inadequate. As other reviewers have noted, the fittings as provided WILL leak, so you need to put in extra effort and supplies (washer/o-ring, caulk/joint paste, glue) to stop the leak. The bigger issue is that the 3/4" hose fitting is poorly designed and too weak to attach a hose to. Mine sheared off the first time I used it! I would have returned it but it's so oversized that would be a huge hassle. Instead I've had to buy additional fittings to close off the original drain and install a higher quality bulkhead fitting and tap elsewhere on the tank. So, extra cost and time to make the tank useful. Fingers crossed that the tank will last long enough to justify the effort. I would not buy this again and am unlikely to buy anything else from Chapin. ... show more

The tanks is great. The end cap with a hose fitting is made of a thin brittle plastic material. It broke as I was tightening the hose onto the fitting. The fill capacity is metal. The end cap needs to also be made of metal.

Very durable! Perfect for loading on a 4wheeler. we did buy a pump so it made it easier to water our fruit trees but as far as holding water, this was great. we had previously bought another name brand water tank at Tractor Supply and when we got it home, it was split half way up the seam but this one was thicker plastic and held the whole 60 gallons of water with no issues! ... show more
