  • MOST SECURE DESIGN: Your belongings are safe at any highway speed with the roof top car cargo carrier boasting the strongest nylon straps: 1.5 wide, 3,000 lbs strong. RoofBags exclusive pass-through straps have been safety-tested for 18 years. They dont interfere with side curtains since they enter at corner of door frame. Door hooks or clips are not safe for most cars in the US: they dont have the required lip under door gasket. However, if you car has lip, buy door hooks from RoofBag store
  • TRULY WATERPROOF: RoofBag keeps your valued contents dry, offering the benefits of a rigid roof top car cargo carrier and the practicality of a roof cargo bag. Peace-of-mind waterproofness is achieved by making the RoofBag car roof bag from a single piece of waterproof material with no exposed stitching. A double flap protects the zipper and stays in place without the need for velcro. Straps are water-repellent. For ultimate water-tightness, zipper has no gap. Tip: install with logo to the rear
  • HEAVY-DUTY: Not only is the RoofBag car topper luggage carrier waterproof, but it is also extremely sturdy. 18 years of improvements led to a roof bag cargo carrier made to last: military-grade fabric that will not peel or tear, is resistant to cold, heat, and UV, and best of all, is free of harmful chemicals, so that you can safely use it for baby clothes. Customer satisfaction is ensured by experienced US staff and by a 2-year warranty. Tip: fill bag completely to avoid wind-flapping damage
  • QUIET, FUEL EFFICIENT, EASY TO INSTALL: Our car rooftop car carrier is lower at the front, higher at the back for best fuel economy and a quiet ride. Built with heavy fabric to reduce noise, RoofBag was engineered to maximize storage space and fuel economy. 2 sizes available: 13 and 17 cu ft. (Larger bags than 17 cu ft are not recommended: they are unstable and noisy and greatly increase gas use). Tip: fill bag completely to keep aerodynamic shape - Leave 8 clear roof space in front of bag

  • Good, affordable carrier with some small drawbacks
I've had this rooftop carrier for a few weeks now. Overall satisfied, though there's plenty of room for improvement. I've taken it on about 3 trips now, totaling nearly 4,000 miles. Background information: I have the 11 cubic foot (small) versus the 15 cubic foot (large) version. I was thinking of getting the large one until another reviewer posted how much it fit and I realized the 15 would be too big. This really has a rather huge capacity and I find that I have to add a decent number of towels to "fill out" the included bags. I mainly use it for medium sized trips with gear for sporting events. It does very well with some room to spare. If you have a bigger family, or take longer trips, the 15 would be better. I STRONGLY recommend getting the package with the included bags. They are amazing, easy to fill, easy to load, and help maximize the interior space. You can use other luggage, but it just wasn't convenient. The bags do not feel very sturdy, but so far I've had not problems with them. They are easy to load and unload, and the carry straps makes it easy to carry around once you've reached your destination. Another important detail is that I use this on a minivan with cross rails. PROS: *Plenty of room for luggage. *Sets up fairly easily, even high up on the minivan. *No issues with keeping it secure. Mounts easily to the cross rails and holds tight for long trips. *Haven't had the issues with noise some people complain about, even going 75 on the highway. I do secure the loose ends of the straps. *Weatherproof: Three legs of my trips have encountered hours of heavy rain and strong wind on the highway. My bags have strayed dry all times. *The bag has caused no damage to my roof or paint. I use the included anti-slip mat. *Roof bag rolls up and fits easily in to the storage bag. I've had other items (tents, sleeping bags, etc) where getting the item back in the storage bag is a hassle. This one is pretty easy to use. CONS: *One of the zipper grips broke the first time I used the bag. Concerned about the longevity of it. *Not easy to load, and will be a problem for many people. I'm 6' and fairly strong. Getting the luggage bags in the roof bag requires muscle and height. Same for unloading them and strapping the bag down. *The instructions recommend unzipping the bag all the way around to load luggage. I wouldn't be able to do this without a ladder, and can only reach the bag my opening the side doors and standing in the car. Without a ladder you can only unzip one side and force the bags in from there. NEITHER PRO NOR CON: The straps are a bit off to the side. I haven't had issues with it coming loose, but you have to have the storage bags FULLY loaded for the straps to hold it right. On one hand, it makes it easier to reach the straps. On the other, if they were a little more towards the middle I feel it would hold the bag down a little better without worrying about stuffing the inner bags to full capacity. The straps themselves are a bit long, so you have to really work with the loose ends a bit to keep them from flapping around. I guess this makes it more versatile in terms of different vehicles, so I can't really hold it against them. Overall, for the price, it's a very good deal. I haven't used any other roof bags to compare this too, but I'd recommend it for anyone looking for extra storage without the cost of a hard top. I will probably come back with an update if it doesn't hold up to time. ... show more

  • 10/10 performance and durability!
We’ve used this roof bag for multiple 1000+ mile road trips, and it has performed perfectly, even through torrential downpours and high winds. Also have not noticed any wear or tear on the bag or straps. It fits two large suitcases + extras like air mattresses, towels, beach toys, etc. Instructions made for easy set up. When not in use, we’re able to store in a storage tub. Highly recommend this roof bag! ... show more

  • Holds up well, but not 100% waterproof.
In summary, this bag holds a good amount of stuff, is fairly easy to use, and held up well to the weather. Though, depending on the extremes, it is not 100% waterproof. Overall, the bag performed as expected and I would recommend it. More details: Our family likes to camp and travel, but we had been renting a larger vehicle for some trips. After doing a cost-comparison, we realized rooftop racks and this bag would pay for itself after the first trip vs. renting a SUV or minivan. We installed crossbars on our Hyundai Tuscon, along with a roof rack basket, in which we put the RoofBag. I didn't want to risk the bag slipping, scratching the roof or falling off. I also didn't want to run the straps through the vehicle's interior for 2 reasons: First, I was concerned the straps would get in the way of the passengers. This was a minor concern, but I didn't want to hear any extra complaining on the long drives. The other, much bigger issue, was the possibility of the straps interfering with deployment of the side curtain airbags. We found filling the bag was easier if we leaned a step ladder (with padding) against the car. I'm over 6' tall, but still couldn't easily place everything in the bag while standing on the door ledge. At the campsite we placed a picnic table at the rear of the car and stood on that. In all, we were able to fit 3 sleeping bags, 4 foldable stadium chairs, an air mattress, 3 tents, 3 blankets, 2 pillows, and another equipment bag (see photos). I put a luggage lock on the zippers to discourage anyone from easily accessing the bag while we were away. I also used 2 ratchet straps to help secure the bag to the rack and crossbars. Both items were fairly cheap and highly recommended. The RoofBag straps did loosen a little during the drive. So at the very least, be sure to tie a knot or otherwise secure the webbing to keep it from slipping too much. Performance: We drove about 10 hours with the bag, with temperatures ranging from 60-85F degrees. It rained for about 4 hours of the drive, and the full bag was on top of the car as it sat parked during severe overnight thunderstorms. At the end of the trip, we found a small amount of water (1-2 cups) in the bottom of the bag, and some of the items were damp. After reading other reviews, I had anticipated this. So, we placed the sleeping bags and other bedding in large, sealable plastic storage bags (MagicBags) before putting them in the RoofBag. The RoofBag decreased our average fuel consumption from 29MPG to 24MPG. Between the metal rack and the extra ratchet straps, the bag sat securely even at long cruising speeds of 75MPH, and over 80MPH for short durations. Other reviews reported issues with the zipper and excessive wearing, even after one trip. We did not have any problems with the zippers, straps or excessive wear. After 10 hours of use, the RoofBag looks as good as the day it arrived. If you do purchase this bag, I would recommemd using plastic zipper storage bags for any items that need to stay dry. Also, the ratchet straps provided extra security, so I never worried about losing the bag. ... show more
