Frequently asked questions

The Rockford Fosgate P3D4-12 Subwoofer package includes the subwoofer, a user's manual, and trim ring. However, please note that you would need to purchase the enclosure, wiring, and amplification separately.

The P3D4-12 Subwoofer is designed with dual 4-ohm voice coils. This means you can wire them to put out a 2-ohm or 8-ohm impedance, providing flexibility to work with amplifiers that can handle such loads. Always ensure to match the impedance with the specifications of your amplifier.

The P3D4-12 Subwoofer is a powerhouse. With a 600-Watt continuous (RMS) power handling and the capability to handle peaks up to 1200-Watts, this subwoofer can deliver potent and deep bass.

Rockford Fosgate recommends a sealed enclosure volume of 1.25 cubic feet or a vented enclosure volume of 1.75 cubic feet for the P3D4-12 subwoofer. Correct enclosure size is crucial to deliver optimal sound performance.

Should I Buy It?

If you're looking for a subwoofer with impressive bass performance, excellent value for money, and high durability, the Rockford Fosgate P3D212 is strongly recommended. However, ensure you factor in the need for the right enclosure to get the most out of it and be prepared to go through a break-in period with lower volume levels. If these considerations aren't deal-breakers, this subwoofer comes with strong recommendations from numerous customers.

  • Great sounding subwoofer
Style: 2-Ohm Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This is, by far, the best subwoofer I have ever installed. I put it into a sealed box built to the specifications in the owner's manual. It exceeded my expectations. I am pushing it with a R2-500X1 and it works well for my application.

  • Great sub woofer. Solid Performance.
Style: 4-Ohm Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
Since this was my first time purchasing a subwoofer for my car, I spent a lot of time searching the internet for a solid performing, well rounded subwoofer. This not only fit the bill, but also didn't break the bank. Pros: - Very solid feel, well built - Can take a lot of power, I feel 600 watts is almost underrating this speaker - Hits hard and fast, given the proper enclosure and power - Cheap price, I had bought mine around $110, which is dirt cheap for the performance - The combination of the aluminium cone and trim ring look sweet - The rubber surround feels very well made - Relatively light for a 12 inch subwoofer - Seems like it can handle a good deal of abuse Cons: - This subwoofer is only rated for 600 watts, do not expect pieces of your car to fall off or to set off car alarms - The response cure isn't the greatest, but for what your spending you shouldn't expect the response of a $500 subwoofer I have owned this subwoofer for around a year and a half now. I purchased a second one around a year ago after the great performance I got out of the first one. I run both of them off of a T1000-bdCP and they hit very hard, while maintaining a good amount of quality. All in all, I would consider this subwoofer one of the best purchases for this price point. The sound quality is great for the price, if your looking for loud punchy bass this will deliver, and if your looking for even more bass just buy two (which is still only around $240). ... show more

  • Clean, Mean MACHINE
Style: 4-Ohm Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
This subwoofer is not for the feint of heart!!! It is a beast of a 12 and continues to impress me every day. I don't regret my purchase whatsoever and I'd buy another one if this one EVER blows out. It arrived early, came well packaged, felt high-grade to the touch, and just looked fabulous. I have over a year of experience in subwoofers and I've heard plenty of setups in my hunt for the right subwoofer. I've heard 2 12" Skars ported, 2 10" Fosgates in a bandpass, a Cerwin Vega 15", and many more impressive setups. However, none sounded as clean AND heavy as the P3D4. I highly recommend this sub to anyone looking for great value and even better bass. This sub could easily withstand SPL applications as well. I push 630w RMS and it plays like a champ with little to no distortion. I drive a 99 ranger XLT. I bought and paired this P3D4-12 with the RF Prime RX-500d amp and have the sub sitting in a 28hz 2cuft ported box at 2ohm. UPDATE 3/29/2022 If you're worried about the longevity of this sub, let me put your worries to rest. I still have the same exact box, sub, and amp from 2020 and they have yet to fail me once. I have never had a problem with them and they continue to impress me today. I've listened to just about everything there is too: rap, country, metal, raggaeton, banda, dubstep. This sub is so versatile that it adds that extra bass and kick to whatever you're listening to. As a daily driver, I couldn't live without it. I would, however, recommend the mesh cover to protect the sub. The cone has a few small dents from me not cleaning off any dust and rocks from work, but that's my own fault. Otherwise, it would still be in perfect condition. ... show more

  • Best subs for the money without breaking the bank
Style: 2-Ohm Product Packaging: Standard Packaging
I purchased two of these and put in a ported box. Currently running a JL Audio 1200 watt monoblock amp to these at a two ohm load. These sound really nice. I am not out to win a sound competition, but if you want something that hits hard and is durable, look no further. I know these would hit tighter in a sealed enclosure, but I prefer the low boomy sound. These are fairly beefy at approx. 21 pounds per sub. They are rated at 600 watts RMS. Although there are better subs out there if you want to spend more, these are a steal for what you pay. You get more than what you pay for. I don't always blast my bass, but I do like good sound quality. These even sound good at low volume. If you are looking to spend $800 per sub so you can blow your windshield out, you need to look elsewhere. If you appreciate good sound as well as quality without breaking the bank, these have your name stamped on them. I currently have my amp gain set no higher than 75%, however these will move your hair. The box I have is slightly smaller than recommended specs. These do like lots of air space if you put them in a vented enclosure. I'm thinking the slightly smaller box is helping them hit some of the mid bass notes. These will not disappoint. ... show more
