  • Pretty good sound for he money!
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure + Amplifier...
My son was saving up for a system for his car and like me, he likes good clean bass but doesn't want to go deaf or rattle the neighbors pictures off the wall. We set this up in his car and I was pleasantly surprised they were louder than expected and had a great clean bass line. Something seemed a little off. Like they could actually be louder. I quickly learned his receiver differed from mine. I have way more settings and his didn't have a lot of options. So we bought a new receiver like the one in my truck. It hit a lot harder with the right setting at the receiver. I was impressed with the quality of the speakers, the box construction, the carpet the stitching of the brand name. The amp looks a little wimpy but it has done the job. We haven't really stressed them nor had them very long so I cant say how long they will last. They seem well made so im not rally worried. The packaging from the factory is awesome. I suspect these speakers will last a good while as my son knows the difference between good sound and distortion and understand the consequences of trying to play something at full volume. We found the sweet spot at audio level 52 (the receiver goes to 62.) Paired with Rockford fosgate door and rear deck speakers and factory tweeters. It sounds amazing! Keep in mind you aren't gonna win any audio competitions but you will have great sound and a little thump you can feel in your chest. ... show more

  • Great for a first time dabble into car audio
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure + Amplifier...
Purchased this product a little over a year ago, they still work great and provide a nice crisp and sharp bass. If you are looking to get started in car audio and don't really want to learn about the technical stuff then this is probably gonna be for you. While it is not easy to install as it does not come with the wiring kit, and you will still have to know what head unit and car your trying to install this on I would say that it is worth the time and effort to install this. If you are an experienced car audio enthusiast, then why are you reading this review? There are far better options for more money. Conclusion: Great value for the first timer! Installed my head unit and these subs on a 1985 Honda Civic Hatchback over a year ago and they still work just fine in the heat and in the cold. ... show more

  • Damn good
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure + Amplifier...
I bought this as my first system ever this past summer, knowing little to nothing about car audio. After buying a wiring kit and all of the other neccesary installments, I hooked this up in my accord. The good: -Easy to install, i used 8 gauge wiring, and followed the directions i found online on how to hook up basic/amps subs. -Monoblock amp, 1 channel. You'd have to be an idiot to hook it up wrong, as there is ONE positive, ONE negative speaker terminal....and with the subs being 2ohms, all you need is a +/- speaker wire each, and thats it. -Hit moderately hard. Had them in the trunk, which was most effective bass sound. These subs dont push too much power....they probably hit like 300rms....but they hit the mids-mid/lows pretty good. Very satisfied. -Overall high quality design. subs and box made of very nice material. Now the bad... - Amp gets hotter than hell in the summer, and under heavy use. Its monoblock, so yeah, i was expecting it to get hot, but i could have probably cracked and friend an egg on this at some points. Sends itself into protection mode pretty often in the summer (i live in ohio....around 85 degree days...) - Not too powerful. They are really good for a first system, but after awhile, you will realize there is bigger and better out there overall, very good setup though. ... show more

  • Here Is The Truth
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure + Amplifier...
First off the package came on time, nothing was missing and none of the speakers were blown. Second the AMP you see in the picture above is not the AMP you will be receiving. I do not know why, Photo Shop, who cares that is not what you will be getting. The AMP is not as bad as it seems. Yes during hot weather, when an AMP is in a hot ass trunk it will over heat. Makes since right? The speakers are great, you need a bigger AMP to get your speakers to really hit hard. Like most people said it is a great starter for a car. I have a 95 Honda Accord and it fits just fine in the trunk. You may want to look up a way to hold it still though. It tends to move around back there. IF YOU ARE SEEING THIS POST. DO NOT ALWAYS GO FOR AMAZONS THIS IS WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE BOUGHT WITH THIS CRAP. NO DO NOT DO IT. IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY. DO NOT BUY 8 GAUGES OR 4 GAUGES HERE EITHER. Go pick one up somewhere else local. At least then you can see how thick the wire is. It is winter or something like it now, so I have no had a problem with over heating. Take my advice, go back, and just get the subs. I just saved you money. I used 4 gauge wire also. No this does not come with a wiring kit and a bunch of instructions. Its the amp, the subs, and some screws and extra fuses. Here is the truth from a constant Amazon shopper. I hate seeing people get screwed and just want honest detailed facts. You can buy this or just the subs. I do not care, your choice. Do not get the Pyramid PB717X. It is not for this SUB. Get a ONE BRIDGE amp, because you will need to cut into the box and rearrange the wires. That's to much work, plus the box is very nice. Here you have it Amazon Shoppers. Hope I could help and save people money. ... show more

  • Best bang for the buck. Best bang for the buck.
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure + Amplifier...
For the money, I don't think you could beat this deal. The amp puts out an honest 400 watts @ 2 ohms with no clipping. Tested @ 40 Hz with a Fluke 87 and an SMD DD1 using the speaker as the load = 28.9 volts into a 2 ohm load. I stuffed the box with 3 lbs of pollyfill, inverted the right woofer, removed the plastic / rubber trim ring and flipped it over, reinstalled it and wired it electrically out of phase. I will clean up the wiring and remove it from under / in between the speaker and the box later. I did that for testing purposes only. Acoustically in phase for a push/pull configuration. Not to be confused with compound or Isobaric. I am really impressed with how smooth the response of this box is. It is very musical and still hits pretty hard for 2 twelves. All and all, the construction of the box is descent. The spring-loaded terminals are descent and the 12 awg wire that is inside the box is soldered to the terminals and to the speakers from the factory. The Kicker GR120 12-Inch Speaker Grille fits like it was made for it. Even the locating pins on the grill fit right in the screw holes on the speaker. The screws that hold the speaker in the box are long enough to hold the grill to the speaker / box and are not tapered. ... show more

  • Not sugar-coated? Still great
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure + Amplifier...
The whole setup is pretty nice. I put this in my '02 Focus ZX5 (fit nicely with room). They look great, nice and shiny, no defects or marks of any kind that I could find. Enclosure is good, it's not as fancy as a ported enclosure but it puts out the sound well. The subs themselves really hit the low frequencies well, but if you're going to run a bass test on it, it'll sputter just a little bit, never hear it in music though. The 250W amp does the job, it would be wise to upgrade if you're looking for serious bass, this are quite respectable though, shakes the heck outta my rear window. I noticed other people said they overheat, and as of now I haven't had that problem (used these for a week, heavily). I'm in the midwest so it's a little cooler and that may help. Altogether a great package. Great presentation when installed correctly, great sound, for the money fantastic power. Definitely recommend this as a starter package. ... show more

  • Pretty good subs, the amp is no good.
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure + Amplifier...
I haven't had a system in a long time, but this setup caught my eye for the price. Overall I like it the sound for what its worth, but read below. Car = 2007 civic si (premium stereo). I used a 4gauge wiring kit. Good: -Decent lows, great mids, decent highs. -The bass knob is great for adjusting for different songs. -The box and subs look and feel great as far as quality. Bad: -It only sounds good with the right songs, it can get pretty muddy. I hooked this system up to my stock HU though so it could be that. I used a Hi low converter and had it split off my rear speakers. -The amp, like others have said so far is no good. It keeps over heating on me, it will turn off for 5 minutes then come back on. I live in Arizona so this is something I will have to live with. I think ill be switching it out with another amp soon. -I had my system installed by an audio store and the first amp wouldn't even turn on, so I RMA'd for another one and it worked right away, but shuts off because of over heating issues. UPDATE EDIT 11/1/10: After using this setup for a while I realized it was not very good. I had the chance to try 3 different setups in my car using my friends subs and amps. All of their subs which cost about the same money sounded 3x times better. These subs have no lows or highs at all. I went and bought some new MTX 10"s and have them running with the jackhammer amp, they sound insane compared to the terminator 12s. The bass, the highs its night and day. These have been well tested with other sub owners. ... show more

  • Quality/Reliability/Price
Style: Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure + Amplifier...
I bought this setup in March of 2010 and I am still using them today! I buy and sell vehicles quite often, so these subwoofers have seen a bunch of vehicles. I've had them in the back of three Celica's, a 4Runner, a Yaris, and a Corolla. Haha! One of the Celica's got totaled, had a nasty hit from the front, while the subs were in the back. I had the amp screwed onto the top of the box and the amp got ripped right out of the wood from the violent crash. I glued back a chunk of the box (just a corner chipped off) and it works perfectly! I mainly listen to rock and metal and these subwoofers are perfect for what I listen to. I don't go SUPER crazy with the bass, but I do get them going pretty good. I live in the upper midwest where the winters can get to about 0-10 degrees sometimes, and they have never failed me. They've been through a few super cold winters and a few really hot summers. ... show more
