    • Excellent camera for the price, especially if you are already in the Reolink ecosystem
If you need a solar powered camera that can cover a large area, and can effectively detect people and vehicles this might well be it - with a few conditions. I have a lot of cameras, they are now all Reolink. Most of them are POE and connected to a 16 port NVR, this is one of three that are not NVR connected - but it works almost as well. I use this camera on the edge of my property where i still have Wi-Fi coverage, but don't have readily accessible power. This is the ideal use case. If you don't have good Wi-Fi where you are placing this camera it will struggle. The camera and solar panel are excellent quality. Packaging was excellent, setup was sophisticated and simple (I am very technical, but i think if you are able to setup a basic wireless router you can handle this camera). I was pleasantly surprised by how well the solar feature works. Without the solar panel this camera ran on battery for about three full days before i started getting nervous and plugged it in to USB C power and charged it. It would likely have run longer if i didn't have the spotlight and motion detection and various other features turned on. With the solar panel attached the unit stays charged. It does not take long in the sun for the battery to get what it needs - even with all of the bells and whistles turned on - it is really quite impressive. I have also been pleasantly surprised by how well this camera determines the difference between a person, vehicle and pet (even though it thinks the squirrels it sees frequently are pets - i can't hold that against it). With the addition of a Micro-SD card this camera suits my use beautifully and detects, tracks, lights up and records everything that goes on at the far end of my yard. Mounting options are a bit limiting as the mount angles the camera down a little, in order to maximize the motion capture and viewing position of the dual lenses. If you are able to mount this flush on a wall that is exactly what you want and the range it can cover from that position is great, the spotlight from a battery powered camera is quite effective within twenty to thirty feet as well. It is no flood-light, but it is bright enough to get your attention and let you know you're being watched. Excellent value for money and a great product if your use case is similar. ... show more

Was a bit worried about the low stars but something kept driving me back to Reolink and this camera in particular due to my somewhat unique use case. Our community pool has been experiencing a lot of trespassing and vandalism so our HOA voted to install a camera. My job was to find and install that camera. The trick was to find something completely wireless that could withstand the elements and save footage in a power loss scenario for under $500. This combo fit the bill. The main drawback for my use was that there is no wifi "direct" (ad-hoc for the OGs out there). This meant I needed to add a powered router somewhere, which doubled the complexity. Thankfully we have a small bathroom building with power, so I put it in there, and was able to easily configure it with the camera through the Reolink app. For personal use I avoid and despise the need for an app (unreliable for long term use, and a privacy concern). However, since this would be disconnected from the internet, and needed to be wireless accessiblility on-site for multiple users, this was OK. Camera function itself exceeds expectations. Solar panel keeps the camera more than adequately topped off (we'll see how long this lasts as quality and irradience decreases) and the dual cameras are priceless, especially when the zoom/pad tracking works properly. You can set it to follow people or vehicles. It seems to work somewhat, but always retains the full image as a secondary monitor, so there's no downside if it's faulty. It was easily installed in a palm tree nearby our pool and you can pan an impressive amount to adjust for any misalignment. Overall, I was impressed with the quality and functionality. As with everything, I worry about longevity, but if anything appalling happens I will update this review. I expect at least 5 years out of it. ... show more

    • It's good but needs improvement.
I've been a reolink customer for several years and have always came back to them. There customer service is pretty good (will get replies during night time because they are based in China). This camera is decent. Motion detection is pretty good. It does have a wide lens coverage. The set up was very easy. I would recommend charging it first and setting it up while you're near the router so you won't have any connection issues. There are 2 things that I do not like about this product. 1. You CANNOT connect this camera to your current Reolink NVR. This is a standalone camera that can just be added on your reolink app (or desktop client). 2. Whenever you live view, the video does not save unless there was motion. Once those 2 things are fixed, this will definitely be a great camera. I bought it to test it out before buying multiple ones for my property. UPDATE MAY 30, 2024 Another issue is that when you're playing back clips, it stops after a minute of you Reviewing clips so you would have to go to the live feed and click playback again. ... show more

    • Awful App and Camera Not Great Either
I've had it for 4 days and I'm returning it. I really needed a camera without a subscription. I loved the pan, tilt and tracking features that were advertised. Those features do work. However, the camera doesn't detect some vehicles or people even though I set it at the most sensitive level. When it does detect a person or object, the app is horribly slow in notifying me via push notifications. When I try to view the event on the app, it takes such a long time for the video to start playing. In a true emergency, this would be completely useless. I wanted to love it based on the reviews and features but the slow response and missed detections are unacceptable. ... show more
