I brought this to use for my mom especially at night. The quality of the camera is good, it was easy to set up and I really like the features. I can see what’s going on even when I’m not at home as there is an app that allows you to speak into the camera as well as adjust the angles of the cameras. I upgraded from my single cam VTECH setup to this dual cam one when I had my second baby. I love that I can use either the handheld monitor or my phone, and switch between direct connection or WiFi as desired. Picture quality is great, settings for the app and the handheld are great. Setup is really straightforward. The only hiccup I’ve ever come across is just needing to power cycle the cameras sometimes as they’ll disconnect via WiFi sometimes. DO NOT BUY. This does not work well and came with a lot of issues. especially when you need it most. I purchased this in October 2024 to replace my old vtech single camera since baby #2 was due Soon. I set it up in December for my toddler. Set up was easy but by March 2025. Only 3 months of use you already had a host of issues before my second baby was born!!!!! Poor connectivity. Very soft sound even at the highest sensitivity and volume compare to the previous vtech camera I had. The night mode is glitching so it toggles between night mode and day mode make a lot of clicking noises keeping me and my toddler awake as can be heard from the camera itself. I have to turn off night mode for it to be quiet however I cannot see my child. I tried unplugging the camera but a few weeks later the issue returns. Now we are in May and the charger has completely stopped working/charging the monitor screen. Not to mention the battery life is very short when not plugged in. I have to use another charger to use it but it is not holding the charge as before. Now the icing on the cake is the antenna broken. All this after only 4 months of use!!!!!!! It’s driving me crazy. DO NOT BUY. POOR PRODUCT. My first tech single camera was much better and clearer where I can see baby breathing. This one is far less superior and has too many issues. If I was living in the US I would have retur ed this lonnggg time ago. After baby was born set up second camera. More connection issues and short battery life. I repeat. Do not buy.     • Good quality device but there are a few minor annoyances

I have two baby monitors, this vtech one and the Infant Optics DXR-8 Video Baby Monitor. I've used both over the past few weeks and they're both very good, but there are a couple of things that are just OK. I prefer the XDR-8. - The only feature this has that the DXR-8 doesn't is the ability to play music to the baby. I've never needed to use it. - This one can't be muted, it's a bit annoying if your baby is very noisy in general (my daughter plays quite loudly). The DXR-8 can be muted. - The user interface is not intuitive. There are three different volume controls and sensitivities that I still don't quite understand the use for. I did read the manual but have completely forgotten what they mean. I found the DXR-8 much more intuitive. - The settings revert to default when you turn the unit off and on again. (I always had to remember to turn the volume down after I turn it on). I turned it off to conserve the battery since we only used it at night and during naps. Again, not an issue on the DXR-8. - The "crying" LED/light indicator is small and sometimes it doesn't light up at all. Compared to the DXR-8 where the whole left side lights up no matter what the settings are. It's difficult to see out of the corner of your eye. I usually have the monitor on my desk and it's nice to be able to see it out the corner of my eye while it's muted. - This doesn't have a USB charger (the parent unit only charges from a wall charger). The DXR-8 comes with 2 USB cables for charging. - For international users, this comes with USA wall plugs. You'll need 2 adapters, but the voltage is compatible with 220V house circuitry. - You can switch between C and F (I have mine on C). - The camera can't be remotely moved. This isn't a huge problem for me becuase my daughter is young still (she's 8m old) and not very mobile yet. As she gets older I definitely think that being able to move the camera will be very useful. All of these things are relatively trivial. This functions fine as a baby monitor, but the DXR-8 is just easier to use and has really nice features. It is definitely a good quality product and I haven't had any hardware/quality issues with it.
