  • Beast of a machine for the price, but be ready for an industrial-farm, DIY experience Beast of a machine for the price, but be ready for an industrial-farm, DIY experience
The Aiweiya AWY-1000 is an absolute steal for $3.2K. It’s heavy-duty and easy to operate, but keep in mind: this is an industrial-farm equipment, not a standard home lawn mower. Your neighbors in the suburbs might hate you for running it, but if you have severely overgrown property to clear, this thing is a dream helper. It’s impossible to beat for the price. Like everything in life, there are compromises that buying some else a few more thousand dollars more could fix; but if you don't have deep pockets, and you're handy with your tools, this is a no-brainer. The Pros: - Built Like a Tank: Heavy-duty construction and highly capable. - Powerful Engine: It runs a 459cc 4-stroke OHV Loncin engine (roughly 18HP). For a 100cm flail, that’s an excellent power ratio. Electric starting is very easy from the blue remote. - Standard Parts: Everything is basic and exposed, making maintenance and repairs straightforward. It uses standard off-the-shelf parts (the Loncin engine, belt drives, standard tracks). Yes, some of the parts may need to order from B2B Alibaba, but still everything is DIY replaceable after the warranty runs out. I realized the RC receiver system is a standard module that can be easily swapped out. Maybe DIY replace the controller eventually to experiment with RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) GPS automation. - Transportable: The width from the outside of the tracks is about 38", meaning if you back-in, it will fit between the wheel humps in the bed of a pickup. The height is about 35". I removed the ROPS (Roll-Over Protection Structure) so it would fit into my smaller Tacoma with a canopy, not worried since I use it on fairly flat terrain. An open bed or full-size pickup should have no issues. - Great Extras: They ship it with full set of belts, 40 extra flail mower blades, and extra filter. The Cons & Quirks: - Heavy Delivery: It arrives in a massive wooden crate weighing over 900 lbs (the machine itself is around 800 lbs). Do not tip this thing over unless you have a backhoe or heavy loader to right it. - Exposed Components: Because it's an open, basic design, the electrical connections aren't heavily protected. Do not use this in the rain. Grass and vegetation also get everywhere. A DIY net or canopy cover could minimize cleanup time. - Spartan Manuals: The documentation is decent but very basic. Again, this isn't for standard homeowners; if you aren't familiar with basic farm equipment operation, this might be a challenge. - Paint Issue: Do not spill gasoline on the yellow paint, it dissolves the paint. On the job: This thing is a beast. I used it to mulch down thick Scotch Broom with 1.5" to 2.5" thick stems, 5 to 7-foot tall, 1.5 acres. I did take it off cruise control and drive it manually, going slow to let the flails chew up the heavy stems without bogging down. When clearing heavy overgrowth, overlap your cuts. Keep 50-70% of the flail over the heavy brush and the other half over the already-cleared area to prevent stalling the 18HP engine. Also highly recommend using a label maker on the remote and the mower to remember the startup sequence, as it's easy to forget between seasons. Customer Support & Calibration: Out of the box, my tracks had a bias to the right and wouldn't run straight. Support was surprisingly good. It’s handled via Amazon messages and email directly with the manufacturer in China, so expect replies in the late morning or mid-afternoon their time. So far, they had responded within 24hr on weekdays. Because it's an 800 lb machine, you do the physical fixes yourself. They sent me helpful video tutorials on how to recalibrate it. In my case, fixing the bias required disconnecting the loop connector on the right motor controller and flipping DIP switch #2 on the RC receiver to switch the track controls into "Tank Mixing Mode," bypassing the blue RC unit's lack of internal calibration. Bottomline: Not for the faint-hearted, but it can take some major abuse if you maintain it well. Do your research on YouTube, know what you are getting into, and you will save thousands on an incredible land-clearing tool. ... show more

  • Very happy so far
I'll try to come back with a follow up review but so far I'm impressed. Delivered yesterday and it seems good quality. Metalwork is solid, parts seem like good quality. I powered it up right out of the crate and drove it around, the remote and the machine are easy to use and fired up right away. Mowed a few test patches and it hacked down the tall grass and thistle with ease. Very happy with the purchase so far ... show more

  • Works great, but
Good mower, but blade engage control lever fell off during the first 30 minutes and was lost (waste of time and $$$).

  • Not a toy, it’s bigger than you think
Used it for two weeks, so not along term review. You might have to adjust the tracks when you get it. There’s no instructions that come with the machine, you are on your own. As far operation, it eats everything in front of it. Keep out of the way and watch the direction of your cut. Loctite the head activation handle. It was nice to mow the road ditches and not worry about traffic or getting stuck. Comes with an extra air filter, cutter head belts and complete set of blades. So far it’s been great. OK, four weeks in and the problems have started. Wiring for the antenna pulled off when I was mowing. they do not clip on and when I moved the antenna all the wires pull off. Two days and several email later i finally get a picture I can use to figure it out. now the machine just loses electrical power randomly , like you hit the kill switch. Some times it dies completely other times it starts running again. Next the left drive motor starts to hesitate and the machine will not track straight. So now it the left drive just stops. will not move at all for 5-10 min While chasing wires i found that a have a wire and fuse coming off the rectifier, it has a connecter attached to the wire but its not hooked to anything. I tested it and it hot. You might want to wait until they get the bugs worked out before you buy! ... show more

  • Need to be aware
Very well made - but can be a bit difficult to start. Really have to have choke on. Very nose heavy - I find it difficult to climb terrain that doesn’t have a gradual slope. And will tilt forward into shallow gully and get stuck with knife down and back up without much track on the ground. Not a great trait when on steep terrain and I have to climb up to get it back in contact. As another reviewer pointed out the tracks come off!! I didn’t listen and have now tightened them as much as possible. Also find it dangerous without chains upfront to prevent debris from flying out. Be very careful to not allow anyone in front. ... show more

  • Walle for the woods!
My new favorite toy, weeding is now oddly satisfying! Worked great right out of the box! Amazing on hillsides!

  • Dangerous
This product is dangerous. During the first use, one of the support plates for the flail mower broke off and shot out the front of the mower, thank God we had the good sense to make sure nobody was in front of the mower. We made another support bracket out of 1/4" stainless steel plate which worked perfectly and the other side broke. I reached out to the company for parts support and got crickets. I do not recommend this mower to anyone. If Amazon would have let me submit this review with zero stars, I would have, it does not deserve a star. ... show more
