After inheriting an indoor cat, I had to scramble to find a good cat litter that would make Mr. Kitty & hubby happy. I also needed a cat litter that would control the odor so hubby wouldn't make kitty become an outside cat. The other criteria was that the litter had to have no odor (no perfume or other smell to mask the cat urine smell -- which actually makes it worse). I tried a few other brands and rejected them for many reasons -- smell of the litter before the cat used it, the dust, the anti clumping, the mess, the fact it had to be replaced so fast -- I was getting frustrated and hubby was a hair from throwing Mr. Kitty out. Thankfully I found Purina Tidy Cat Clumping Free and Clean Unscented Cat Litter. This cat litter is a life saver for Mr. Kitty. There is No smell from the litter even when he uses it -- which is a huge must if you have an indoor cat. The litter clumps right up and absorbs his bathroom habits, making for easy scooping up. The litter is dust free and doesn't make a dusty mess. This litter is easy to clean and last longer as it immediately clumps up and keep the litter box cleaner longer -- which makes the litter last longer -- which saves you money. Longtime furmama of 4 cats, and I've tried pretty much every kind of litter out there - the sawdust, the newspaper, the pellets, the cheap, the expensive. For price and effectiveness, this is the best brand. Go with the unscented - the perfume varieties are obnoxious, and the unscented is perfectly effective in covering odors. My living space is 650 sq ft, and with 4 plastic totes in the basement each 5+ inches deep with this litter, no one would know I have four cats. I recently had a realtor come in and tell me how impressed she was by that fact. I know cat owners often say they switch out their litter regularly - completely dump out the boxes and replace the litter - but I rarely ever have to do that. This litter clumps so effectively, it's unnecessary. I just add a few inches of fresh litter on top every few weeks. The trick is to use deep boxes (as I say I like 20-40+ gallon storage totes, SOOO much cheaper than dedicated litter boxes) - and fill them 1/3 - 1/2 full with litter. Sift the litter before scooping by lifting the sides and shifting it around so the clumps are easy to find (rather than digging for them and breaking them up). If you keep it full enough of litter, you'll never have to scrape crumbly clumps from the bottom, and with this brand, if they stick to the sides, I just give that side a hard drop on the floor and 9x out of 10, it comes loose in tact. When you have four cats, a clean and convenient litter routine is worth its weight in gold - and even better when it's also roughly $.50/lb. It took me many years to find what worked best for my situation, and this is it. Of course, they'll still manage to flick it everywhere and over time, you'll find clay coating over everything in the vicinity, so you'll want a hooded box if that's a serious issue for your space. Of course, the dust isn't good for your babies either, but I've used the expensive brands promising 99% dust-free, and they're no better than this stuff. And if you use unscented, it will probably irritate your cat's respiratory system much less. My babies are aged 7-13 and all four are terrifically healthy (knock wood). I have a female cat who is 11 years old and when I was buying scented cat litter, she was going potty next to the cat box and not in the actual box. I decided to switch to this unscented cat litter and it solved the issue she was having going potty next to the cat box, as I discovered she doesn’t like the scented cat litter. This cat litter is also hard clumping and easy to clean. I only have one cat and I completely empty the cat box and put in fresh litter every 2 weeks . I like that this litter is unscented. It worked ok. If I scooped each day, I could remove the clumps in one piece. However, if I forgot for 2-3 days, the clumps would break when I scooped and wet litter crumbled and slipped thru the scooped slots....

I have recently tried so many brands of unscented cat litter. We have 5 cats and do not have an automatic cleaning litter box so I can't speak for how it does with that. We do have 4 litter boxes and clean them daily. Some litter is like sand and sticks to the litter box. Some doesn't clump and some doesn't help eliminate the smell. This particular brand has been my favorite so far! It clumps perfectly and does not stick like paste to the bottom of the litter box. It also seems to keep the box smelling fresher for longer. I've used Tidy Cat for my cats for decades. The unscented version takes care of cat-box odors without heavy fragrances, clumps well, and is lower tracking than many other options. I prefer this option of smaller bags within the box but can't always find it.
