We have previously used this litter and always found it to be great. Temporarily switched to a different brand and noticed it smelled horrible, and our cat started using the bathroom where she wasn't supposed to. So we switched back to Fresh Step and there hasn't been anymore accidents. So lesson learned, we will only be using this litter from now on. I will say, since switching back to Fresh Step, the smell has went away so it has been great for odor control even with it being unscented. Clumping is definitely better than other brands, with other brands there was always muddy litter at the bottom of the litter pan, now there isn't. It clumps tightly, locks in odor quickly, and lasts a good while with regular scooping. The packaging is sturdy, and the dual-box format (2 x 18.5 lb) is easy to manage and store. My cat Sophie never had any issues with the texture or feel of the litter. She used it without hesitation, and I never saw signs of avoidance or discomfort. But despite all that, I had to retire this product — not because it failed in its core function, but because it didn’t align with my respiratory needs or sensory boundaries. Let me explain. The Mountain Spring scent is bold. It’s designed to evoke freshness, alpine air, and a clean environment. But in practice, it’s strong enough to fill a room quickly — and for someone like me, who lives with asthma and a colostomy, that strength becomes a problem. I am overall really happy with this cat litter The scent isn't overwhelming and it is currently being used for my household of two cats. I have a automatic robot litter box and it seems to scoop it quite nicely and I like that it doesn't stick to the sides of the litter box. The litter isn't too heavy either. I don't like the lightweight stuff that you can buy because I don't think it clumps as well however this stuff works great! The texture of this letter is high quality in my opinion and it has worked the best for me in terms of durability and longevity and also helps with the smell. We love this litter! We used Purina Tidy Cats for years prior to trying this. Since we started using Fresh Step, I don't smell any urine or feces when near the litterboxes!
