This unit filters the water very quickly. However, when I tested it with my TDS meter it showed 149 ppm. Their information inside the package says it will not register properly with a TDS meter. I wrote to the manufacturer by email to ask how I would test it and never heard back. So at this point, I don’t know how good it is working.

We've had a Royal Berkey for years and bought this as a cheap alternative to use on vacation. It's a far cry from the real deal. Tap water tasted slimy and was far worse than the fridge filter at our Airbnb. Buy yourself a Brita pitcher for 1/3 of the cost and you'll get better results. The stainless housing was well made though.

You get a water filter, a collapsible water bag and a plunger syringe for cleaning. The extension tubing is not included in the package even though it is listed in the bullets and shown in the photo. The instructions offer 3 ways of use. Suck straight from the filter, use bottles with a 28mm threaded neck, or a gravity bag. So I decided to try and use this with my current platypus gravity filtration system. Sadly, the tubing in my platypus kit is not the correct size for the input nipple of this filter. The basic summary is, this is no more than a personal water straw which is the manufacturers intended use. I have not had the opportunity to test this against other water filtration filters as per the GPM flow.

I left for a camping trip with this new filter system and after first use, a rust spot formed in the bottom section of the filter system. I'm camping and trying to get this item replaced as this was for my 2 month trip. Don't have the original box as that is at home. So this has become a huge inconvenience and Amazon said its a third party seller and I have to go find a box, and find a UPS store in Colorado. This is completely screwing up my trip! I read rust spots in reviews and the customer support was awesome and got a replacement, but not happening in my case!! I guess I just flushed my $$$ because I can't driving hours to a UPS drop off.
