My wife purchased this exact filtered pitcher a few years ago, and has worked out very well and lasted a long time. I recently had a small accident after cleaning it out and attempting to change the filter where the inner blue portion fell from the dish drain above my since and fell into the sink, cracking in a few spots. I did not notice the cracks right away and simply just rinsed it off and put the new filter in and began using it. When I noticed bubbles floating up and water dripped through and not passing through the filter, I realized there were some thing cracks that formed and it was time for a replacement. The original pitcher was at least 3-4 years old and I lost track because I bulk purchased filters during Covid because they became harder to find and I had a stash in the home for over a year (filters on average should be changed approx every 3-4 months, but I found the name brand would clog and stop working much sooner than the recommended gal/monthly change rate. I spotted an off brand supply that seemed to work longer, were cheaper and offered more filters in the case, so I stocked up!) I honestly cannot drink the water from my faucet as it has a terrible taste and smell, and I grew up in the late 80's early 90's drinking from the sink, the hose in the backyard and water fountains in school - for me not to drink the water in my home these days, there is definitely something wrong. PUR filters kill the smell and bad taste and make drinking water a pleasure again. For someone who has diabetes and high blood pressure, drinking enough water daily became a hard task until my wife purchased our first pitcher. Knowing that this product works, and allows me to enjoy the taste of water again, I made sure to replace the old with this new one, and bought more filters, too! LOL! Best part, I can re-purpose the lower section without the blue insert and still put other drinkable substances in there if needed (add fruit and water as an example or possibly home made iced tea) and still dispense it from the fridge. For those that rely on the TL;DR type reviews, it's a great product, lasts long, works wonders in the filter department as well as easy to clean... just don't attempt to dry and hang from a high place, if it falls it will get damaged... otherwise, worth the money and cheaper than buying bottled water at the store that tastes just as awful as my sink water. This just works really well. The water is delicious. It’s an excellent fit in the fridge- when I first unpacked it a relative worried it wouldn’t fit, but now we’re all just much more aware of how much space goes unused at the back of fridges. It freed up more space width-wise on the shelf, which is space we do actually make use of. It takes a long time to filter water, but I suppose that’s to be expected. Fortunately it’s very easy to carry, so I just refill the top whenever it’s low but the bottom is still full of water and don’t worry about waiting for it to filter through. The only slight negative to that is it means I’m regularly adding quite a lot of not-cold water, which obviously raises the temp of all the water. Not hugely noticeable, but I like my water really cold, so I always add ice. I love the filter alert light thing. I’m worried I may already have lost the little plastic thingy that comes with it to remove the spigot part for washing :( ... show more

i used a brita all during college because i saw it as the "standard" water filter. i recently switched an i'm very glad that i did. the water filtration system is much slower, but the water tastes much better and i love that there's a small light indicator to show the filter's status every time you use it. (green for good, yellow / red for need to change) would definitely recommend to all brita users skeptical of spending a little more money. ... show more

Edit a month and a half later… After finding the one purchased via Amazon was leaking enormous amounts of water (started with a small trickle but quickly progressed to almost direct flow from the top compartment through the spout), I contacted Pur. I told the gentleman on the phone what happened and he asked for my address. Within three days I received a replacement. No issues in this time and I would say that, though the mess an inconvenience were not ideal, the resolution was above par for companies today. ********* I’ve had this a month and a half and I keep noticing water drips below the filter in the fridge. This morning I saw the plastic bin I keep on the bottom shelf was filled a full 2” with water. Last night, I opened the fridge and the bottom shelf is soaked in water and I failed to moss the real tell that this is a VERY faulty product in need of replacement (or redesign, if this is a common issue). First, let me say that the filter is horrible. I leveled up but even after an hour I couldn’t add more water so I basically fill the top level once and then have to put it in the fridge, leaving me to refill the darn thing multiple e times a week. Add profuse leaking to it and I’m now no longer feeling inclined to use this brand, after a decade and a half of committed use. My last pur (former design) had mineral build up or I’d have not purchased a new one. Guess it’s my mistake- I’ll seek another brand since newer, in this case, is subpar. It doesn’t work under two month later. The previous model didn’t have these issues after many years. This is one of those items you need replaced immediately, not when it suits the corporation. So I’ll be shopping another brand and contacting Amazon via phone for a refund. ... show more

So on first glance we thought that this was wayyy to big and we’d have to completely rearrange our medium/ standard apartment fridge. Actually… it fit quite well and it’s really not that tall. It is deep though. So expect to leave nothing behind it. It does have a nice amount of capacity and is really easy to fill and clean when you take it apart. I prefer this method of having filtered water than the jug because the jugs run out too quick and this has plenty of reserve. Way more value too with the nice filters that you get with it and can also buy. The spout material and everything is great. Highly recommend this brand. ... show more
