This worked perfectly, as expected. One consideration is that charcoal filtered doesn't have as much micro-plastic in it as reverse osmosis filtered water. Think about it.

  • Consistently Pleasant Tasting Water
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: White
To this day, I am still not sure how this filter works and how the flashing light knows when it is time to change the filter. At no time does the water, indicator light or filter touch, but still it seems to know. The last filter I purchased I swear that it said to change every three months but this new and improved filter says two months, but the same 40 gallons of water. That is not something that I keep track of but when the green light turns red, then I know it is time for replacing and that usually happens every 2 – 3 month. Do not believe the directions. They now say that you do not have to presoak the filter, just rinse it for 15 seconds under running water. This made the water taste horrible. I went back to soaking it for 15 minutes and the water is much better. Every time I replace the filter, I tend to run into the same issue of it not seating correctly. This time I took the reservoir out and spun the filter until it grabbed correctly. Not sure if others have this same type of issue, but this made better sense to me. I also ran into the issue of the blinking light not turning green with the new filter. It was not until I presoaked it that the light turned green. Now I am finally back to the clean tasting water that I am accustomed to. I am on city water and from time to time, the chlorine taste is unbearable and the hard water deposits have ruined two coffeemakers. I have noticed that with the Brita pitcher and filter I am receiving consistently pleasant tasting water and no problems with my coffeemaker. I guess my takeaway with this latest filter is to go back to the original directions and realize that new and improved is not always better. ... show more

  • Water filter
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: White
Nothing wrong with the Brita filters I bought. Tastes like filtered tap water. On the package it does say, filter in package may be moist, rinse filter with cold water for 15 seconds before using, and carbon dust is normal in first 1-3 fillings. Also, in another review it says that the filter was moldy with what looks to be green bits on the bottom, and I checked mine for the same and noticed that the filter has tiny beads in it that are black (or brown) and green in color and basically I'm sure that's what it is, not mold or yucky stuff. Some of the green beads were stuck in the wire mesh making it look suspicious but I just shook and tapped at it and they all fell inside with all the other green beads Shake the filter around and you will see from the bottom. This is my review and I'm speaking from my point of view, thank you. ... show more

  • good price
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1) Color: White
Well only $7 on amazon for what would be $10 to $13 in a drugstore or Kmart in NYC. Although next time I'm getting the four-pack, then they're only $5 each. A note, I have used Pur filters in the past, which yield slightly better tasting water if you are very picky. But Pur takes longer to pass through the filter, costs a bit more, and reviews of the latest models mention several problems, implying that they stop filtering water altogether after a certain period, and might be designed for planned obsolescence so you have to buy replacements more frequently. Someone cut open a filter that had stopped working and noticed white pellets had expanded to block water flow. If this is the case it's a low move on Pur's part, bec different houses and regions will have different levels of impurities, so a filter that might last just 40 gallons in one house might last 80 gallons in a house with a cleaner water supply, so to make the filters stop working after exactly 40 gallons isn't cool. Until Pur fixes this, I'm sticking with Brita. ... show more
