Description

We carry bulk replacement, refill Coconut Shell Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC). Premium grade coconut carbon media can be used in drinking water treatment for residential or commercial systems. Coconut carbon usually works better than regular charcoal as a filtering media because it outperforms regular carbon in chlorine removal and Volatile Organic Compounds. This replacement coconut carbon is a high quality filtering media. It's a high density filter material with balanced porous structure that creates high filtering performance. It's high quality because it has a great absorption rate to remove contaminants from drinking water. Most common application for granulated activated carbon are removing unpleasant taste and odor from drinking water and chlorine reduction. This media can be backwashed.

  • Great company!
I purchased a 20lb bag of charcoal back on October 12th 2022. Review date is almost 4 months to the day later. Charcoal is as it states and is working as charcoal does. Amazing. So thank you for that. I would also like to thank the company I purchased this from (add later) for sending me a partial product refund so promptly after me reaching out. Will deffinately purchase again in the future for Great price and Amazing customer service. A+++++ ... show more

  • Is working like it should
I got my shipment fast. It was a bit to small to put in a mesh bag for koi pond filter, so I made a bag out of filter fabric and works fine. I will order again in 3 months when it is time to change. ...UPDATE..... has been a month since I’ve started using this product and my koi pond of Crystal clear. I am also getting great readings on water test. ... show more

  • Great tasting water
I ordered this to replace my old carbon in my whole house water filter. I checked locally for a product but it was 2x as much. I found this to be very good. Low dust ( I was worried after reading some reviews) good particle size and was very pleased with the results. It has been more than 10 years since I have replaced this media and man what a difference in taste and smell. Very pleased, even better my wife is very pleased. ... show more

  • Great product
I bought two of these for the size of my tank. Don’t forget to get a base layer of gravel. You can buy gravel cheaper from a local water supply place though. Make sure you wear a mask when dumping the new charcoal media in the tank. Also, do yourself a favor and purchase a funnel made for the tanks. Run a cycle when you are done to rinse the charcoal in the tank. My water tastes better now and there is no odor. ... show more

  • Used for whole home water filter
When my rainsoft tech came in to evaluate my system, he wanted $450 to replace the carbon in my system, which is a total rip off. Do yourself a favor and do it yourself by watching a quick YouTube video. It only cost me $100 for 25 lbs of carbon, which is much more cost effective. Make sure to wear a mask while pouring and get a funnel, which sadly was not included and is definitely needed. The seller is helpful in estimating how much carbon you’ll need. Also be sure to get some food grade o-ring seal as well! ... show more

  • Very fine granules
This is true activated carbon made from coconut shells, and it is a BIG bag. BUT, the particles themselves are very small so I can't see how this could ever be used in an aquarium filter without itself clogging up the filter. I use it for other purposes and it works great, but it's advertised as for use as an aquarium filter medium. I have a 200 gallon aquarium and a 2,000 gallon outdoor koi pond and I wouldn't use it in either context... just saying... it is what is, so, is it being what it is what you need? You decide. ... show more

  • Use this for kitty litter
I actually use this for kitty litter. I have a cat that has allergies, so we have to use non-scented litter for him. Despite scooping every day and cleaning the litter boxes frequently (I even use stainless steel litter boxes), there can sometimes be a scent that lingers out into the living room and other rooms. After adding the charcoal to the litter box and mixing in, I have noticed a big difference. The only time I smell anything is when I am scooping the litter (ie churning up the litter to scoop stuff out). This a great alternative to add into litter instead of buying those pesky, fake scented litters. ... show more
