I ran this pump inside an outdoor clay pot fountain for hours without any issues. I see no evidence of quality control issues on the power cord end. The pump moves the water very powerfully and the noise level is reasonable. Time will tell how long it lasts.

UPDATE: it didn’t die. I have it wrapped in a mesh bag to keep debris from nature out of the mechanics for extended life, and just so happens lots of stuff got clogged in the folds of the mesh bag. Cleaned it off and the pump can function again as normal. Works like a charm. Changed from 1 Star to 5 stars. -Good pump in the beginning, but started getting weak around month 5 as mentioned in the title - just long enough to make it past the return period. Barely a trickle coming out now. Ordering a new one but different brand. better luck next time, I hope ... show more

I created a fountain in my backyard by watching YouTube, and I needed a pump that would stream water at a high rate. Meaning I built a tall barrier around the PULACO 400GPH Submersible pump so I needed it to show over the barrier. This pump is perfect because it has a dial on the side where you can turn up the flow or turn down the flow. This item is low cost, so it's affordable. Easy to install with attachments. It even has a long tube that you can attach and cut and use as an extension. It also has a filter that must be cleaned often. The con is, you have to keep the water clean is not it could mess up the motor. Things like leaves or grass get in your water could affect pump. This system works at its best when it's submerged in water. ... show more

9 months since original purchase. I only use for doing water changes so I probably used it 20 times. My wife plugged it in so I can do a water change and it blew the wiring straight off the plug. I trimmed the wiring back so I could put a new plug end on and it was dusty corrosion 1.5 feet from plug end before I could find temporary wire to use and finish my water change. Junk. Going right in trash. Didn’t think I needed to spend on a brand named pump for water changes but I thought wrong. ... show more

I bought this pump for my budget 10 gallon saltwater build. This pump fit perfect in my return chamber of my aio. This thing moves water! I have it set to about halfway and it still has plenty of power. The only downside is you have to pull the entire pump out if you want to adjust the water flow. I have the smaller version to do water changes with and was impressed by how quiet it was that I had to give the bigger version a shot. ... show more
