Tried a few different options for patio heating, but they all tend to rust very quickly. We'll have to see how it goes for this one. The heat radiator element itself is ceramic, it will not rust, it is held in place by a ceramic coated steel frame, although the case itself that holds everything together is painted steel. Best to keep it out of the rain. Stainless steel would have been much better, however i've had stainless steel gas heaters before and they still rusted. Expectations aside, this one looks great. It is about half the depth of the propane tank, the base flips open to hold the tank and rolls on 5 wheels. Heating is great and very effective. There is a paper sticker to warn you that it gets too hot to touch on the frame near the heating element. That sticker heats up and it looked like it would eventually burn or dry out the glue then discolor, so i opted instead to remove the sticker and toss it. There is also an instruction sticker, more durable than the heat warning sticker, i chose to pull that off from the edge of the heater and move it near the back of the case instead (see pictures). This heater is very intuitive, super-easy to use, very easy to stow, it comes with a pressure regulator that needs to be installed, only a wrench needed to get it going. I do expect it may rust too quickly just like all the others, but among those i've tried, this one is top notch.

I am quite impressed by this patio heater! When I ordered this I really did not know what to expect or how much heat I thought it would put out. Most patio heaters are not known for the amount of heat they provide, especially those in this price range. But this one does an excellent job. It comes packaged with the tank holder folded up and one part not in place. Once I screwed that part into place and installed the tank, I connected the hose to the heater itself. Set up was quick and easy. Once I turned the tank on I turned the knob to "one" and lit the pilot light. This didn't take long at all and once it was running I turned it to "two" and "three", which refers to the number of bricks burning at the time. It puts out a good deal of heat. I tested it in our garage, and it heated it up very quickly. I would compare this heater to the three brick non-vented "Vanguard" type heaters that we have installed in our house for emergency heat should we experience a power outage. This one will be used in the shipping container (with doors open) that I use for a storage building when I am working in there.

This came in a really big box, but is smaller than I thought it would be. However - it does a great job at keeping my patio warm enough for me to keep sitting on during chilly days/evenings. It's easy to use and seems to be lasting quite a while - it's been a great surprise now that I've been using for a while and will continue to utilize as long as it keeps up with the temperatures.

Pilot will not light. Instructions say to check the anti tilt switch, by removing the zink plate. IT CANNOT BE REMOVED!!!! This is ridiculous. Please tell me how to remove the ZINK PLATE!!

I was looking to replace my patio heater, (the 8-footer you see on restaurant patios with the deflective shield/hood). Even though they have the deflective shield, so much of the heat flows away as soon as it clears the concave shield...wasted energy and a waste of my dollars as propane is not cheap. This heater really cranks out the heat, it is really easy to set up, the build is of decent quality, and I expect it to last for years, it really gets the heat rolling! The controls function well and easy to understand, and the portability of the unit makes it ideal on a camping trip, that is so important when camping in areas that have "no fire" restrictions in dry locations. I love everything about this unit except for one thing.... the U-shaped propane bottle retainer has 3 tiny screws on each side when you swap out the bottle. Camping or in the back yard, it would be easy to lose the screws and of course you need a Philips screwdriver... a real hassle for someone with compromised motor skills and weak eyesight. This unit should have quick release straps... a simple nylon click and forget it would be a huge plus. I plan on making the modification myself, but this is so obvious of a need, I give it 4 stars.
