Tried it out for my purple hair (i dyed it with iro iro). It's pretty faded except for the top parts, they're still pretty purple. And I started seeing results not even 2 minutes later! For reference, under the purple I had previously dyed my hair red, and before the red I had pink. Hence the pink undertone showing up as the color is being removed. 1st pic is about a minute after application, 2nd pic is about 14 minutes after application. Make sure to read directions, you need the part A&B that's in this box PLUS your own developer (it says volume 10 but I only had 20 & left it on for less time) ... show more

I decided to dye my hair blue after years of dying it dark brown and brown/burgundy with various box mixes over the last 14 years. I have used color oops in the past to remove box color and had done a round of that with little change (if you decide to use it, don't get the extra conditioning one) before deciding to purchase a different type of color remover. Full disclosure, I ordered while I was tired and didn't see the word "lightener" on this before I got it. Because of that I applied all over my head like with Color Oops. When I noticed my roots lightening, and ending up very yellow when I removed the shower cap, I had a mini panic attack. But after washing my hair felt really good, so I made a quick trip to sally's for more developer and a back up toner in case the one I had purchased was not effective due to my hair not being light enough. I used 2 packets in the first attempt, and needed more as it came out somewhat patchy. I used the remaining 3 packets and a bit more developer than required to make sure it fully saturated my hair. It came out lighter and I didn't see damage. I toned it using the backup toner on just my roots and then blended down into the band where my old color was and it looked great! The next weekend, I finished the process with bleach, 2 hair masks (Bold Uniq - SERIOUSLY BUY IT!), and the original toner and then shortly after applied the blue dye to my hair. Bottom line, this product does a great job when you know its a lightener and use it according to the directions. My hair felt so much better using this than when I bleached it later in this process so I'd recommend it to anyone who is looking to remove color and lighten their hair at home without the terrible smell of Color Oops! It can also be bleaching so be careful if you’re using this. But it did lighten my boxed black dye hair from 2 years ago

I read reviews of this product before I bought it so I was ready to apply 3 packets to remove my box dark brown and thought that would be enough. Two things, first READ THE DIRECTIONS. If you leave it on your hair for MORE than 20 minutes, your hair color will go back to a dark color!! Secondly it only uses a 10 V which you have to purchase separately. So, its basically the same thing as putting highlights in your hair. Also, you can only use 3 packets within a 48 hour period so you don't lose all your hair. I will say the best part about this experience is there is no awful smell and my hair was not really dry!! ... show more

I never write reviews but I'm rarely this impressed. If you need a color remover this is so unbelievably worth it and honestly for the amount you get it's almost the same cost wise as the Sally's color removers or color oops. This easily removed my stubborn blue/green dye & evened out my overall color SO QUICKLY. I mean by the time I started the next section the other was already almost where I needed it to be. Not only that but my hair actually feels measurably healthier after using it, like it was an olaplex treatment rather than a color remover. I saw the other reviews complaint of the developer not being included but in my experience that's pretty standard unless it's a box dye. I just used what I already had from Sally's I didn't buy the specific one. All I had was a 20v so I diluted with half water to make it a 10v, mixed at a 1:1 ratio per the instructions. I did end up leaving it on longer than recommended because it took me a sec to thoroughly saturate my sections, I think 45-55ish minutes from the start of application. I have thick hair (about armpit length) & ended up using 4 of the 5 packets to cover about 3/4 of my hair. Best color remover by far, leaps & bounds ahead of anything else I've ever used, non-drying, super quick & effective, my hair looks and feels amazing, 10/10. ... show more

This product works excellent and don’t damage your hair. You do have to purchase a developer separate and a bond sealer separate but it’s worth it

    • Barely works but non-damaging
This really only pulled a tiny bit of my previous color out, and only from the sections of my hair that processed longer than the recommended time. I mixed with 10 vol developer, which the directions said would lift 2-3 levels worth of color, but it lifted 0-0.5 levels max. It did however turn the few spots where it overlapped onto my new growth bright orange, which I was not expecting. The good news is that my hair doesn’t feel damaged, so I would consider trying it again and processing a little longer, but it took three of the five applications to cover all of my hair… Might work well for people with less stubborn previous color in their hair - just try not to get any on your roots, and be prepared to use more than one of each packet. It is definitely the least offensive smelling and least damaging color remover I’ve ever tried, so I will probably give it another shot next time I need to remove a less stubborn color. ... show more

    • Bleach based and a little damaging but very effective for blue!
I had medium blue hair that I was over. I used it twice to get from blue to platinum and it worked! My ends were. Little fried after the second use and it bleached my regrowth but not substantially. It left my hair with a slight tinge of light green still in it but I toned it out with light pink semi permanent easy. After the first use, it was substantially lighter and still felt healthy. I went for round 2 because I wanted to go blonde rather than another vivid. Highly recommend! ... show more
