This is a beautiful and practical gas fireplace. I had the non-remote version in a previous home and loved it. However, I am very dissatisfied with the remote (thermostat) which has stopped working properly only three days into use (ruled out not a battery issue). I just went through the process of hopefully resetting the remote/thermostat since I cannot return the unit nor will the manufacturer pick up the phone. Through this process I'm especially disappointed with Amazon's customer service, who first connected me to the wrong company and then gave me a phone number to call that contained one too many digits... the rep would not assist me further. ... show more

**UPDATE: We used this over the winter and it kept the whole house warm. I could not be more pleased with this product. ORIGINAL REVIEW: When we opened the box, the main log was broken in 2. I called support to get a new log sent out. There is a smell at the start but hopefully that will go away in time. Thus far I have only used this to test it as it's around 90 degrees outside. It seems like it will work just fine. I tested the remote and had no issues - but again, I only used the on and off buttons. I will update my review this fall when we actually use the heater. However, at this time, I'd definitely recommend it for the price. ... show more

I purchased two stoves not realizing they won't work in high elevation. I purchased one for a trappers tent we are building and one for my employee who has been freezing at the family cabin with no heat....the cabin that has been in her family for 40 years. I was so excited to give this as a gift only to learn a few months later I gave her a useless gift. It's my fault. I didn't realize a few hours outside of Phoenix, AZ is high altitude. There isn't a conversion kit available and I bought these long before we could actually use them so they are not returnable. No complaints about the seller or the product, just hoping to bring awareness so you don't make the same mistake I did. ... show more

Pretty easy to do, they don’t clarify assembly instructions too well, used google for help. Once it was all together...started right up. Gonna be nice to have for the winters, help keep pipes thawed too.
