They (original) were sturdy and well made but a large dog decided that he wanted in the closet and broke an upright. The original was 35 years old when the dog rammed the door so I would say this replacement should last a very long time. I had purchased a different style but could not replace it due to the height of the base. This seems like a good closet door guide. One disadvantage with this design though, is because the holes are under where the doors go, you have to remove the hanging doors prior to screwing in. This adds time to the installation, especially when the doors are hard to remove from the rails. With other products of this type the holes are on the outer part of the guide, so you can install without removing the doors. ... show more
