Works just like new!
The plugs harden over time and needed replacing so I bought this plug made for it. Installing it involves simply pushing it into the same spot the old plug was in then using the lid cover as you always did. Now it works just like it did when it was new! Being able to replace parts and keep the cooker working like new is the best thing ever!

Fit is perfect
I bought off brand & they were undersized on the top, you couldn’t wash the lid without them falling out. The original Presto plugs are fantastic!

You never fail with original equipment parts.
I recently purchased some generic plugs for two different types of canner. Both require these saftey plugs. The generic plugs actually blew out before pressures was achieved. They were a bad fit,bad value. They were possibly dangerous. The original part was a perfect fit and sealed perfectly.

Using This as a Replacement for Hawkins Pressure Cooker 'Meltable' Plug
My Hawkins pressure cooker from India came with a plug in the lid that is melt-able, so that if there is an overheating situation, the plug melts out into the food and renders the cooker unusable. These melt-able plugs have to be replaced periodically when that happens. Most American pressure cookers made by Presto have the rubber plugs that pop out if there's an over pressure situation. The Presto rubber plug will also fit in the hole of the lids of the Hawkins pressure cookers once the screwed in plug is removed. I've done this with my older Hawkins unit and now have a new one, and am doing the same thing. The Hawkins plugs are filled with a melt-able plug that can melt into the food at over-temperature situations, that can occur if the cooker is run dry or with only a little liquid left. Also the rubber plug makes it easier for the Hawkins cooker to reach pressure. בס'ד
