    • Works Great, Very Easy to Setup and Get Working
This was a great purchase. The size is perfect for 6 5" pancakes at a time. The nonstick surface is REALLY non-stick. I guess I may have to update if it starts to wear, but so far it is amazing. Of course, you should ONLY use plastic tools on any non-stick surface... Pros: Easy to assemble (handles are quick to install and easy to remove if required, and the temperatur control unit is pluggable and simple.) Again, non-stick. The texture seemed strange, but it does not imprint the food or catch junk. The temperature control seems to be very accurate for my needs. Cleanup is VERY simple. Warm soapy water and a light touch with a washcloth and it looks like new. Heating is fairly even. You can see that pancakes over the element are a bit darker. Heats up very fast. Overall construction seems very sturdy in spite of some commenters saying the plastic parts are fragile. Probably would not survive a drop on the floor....DUH. Cons: Cord is very short. Slight difference in heat over elements, but not bad. it is big enough that storage could be an issue. That is also a pro I suppose. ;-) My thoughts on build quality: The griddle itself is a nice chunk of cast aluminum (or al-u-min-nee-um if you are british) Not all that thick, but not bad. The plastic handles are fairly solid. I would NOT call them flimsy. Not sure how they could break in normal use. The grease pan is also plastic, but again, not flimsy. ... show more

    • Family of 10: This is the BEST griddle we've ever had by FAR!!!
I have 10 people to cook breakfast for each morning, and usually after Day 1 my new griddles look very used. Not this one!! I start out with bacon, then scrape off the browned bits, following it with 11 or 12 "easy-over" fried eggs. The temperature control is pretty much right, but I find 250 is a bit hot for fried eggs--usually 200-225 is better. I have not noted much problem with hot spots--heat distribution seems pretty even. Scrambled eggs are very fast on this griddle, and pancakes and French toast are a breeze! We also can line up hamburgers or grilled cheese sandwiches and be done pretty quickly. I take the griddle immediately after turning it off and run hot water over it with a little light circular scrubbing with the scrubby side of a soapy sponge. Everything comes right off, and it looks almost brand new--which has NEVER been the case with any other griddle! (We liked this so much we got 2!) It is perfect to take on the road with us for vacations, because it becomes flat with removable handles and cord and packs well. It has really saved us so much for breakfast and lunch food especially at the beach because we can cook it all up quickly and easily in our room! I have never written a review on a product before, but they really got it right with this griddle and SO deserve it!! The kind of funky perforated surface is really innovative, but I find it holds just the right amount of oil needed so things don't stick, and I can scrape excess oil off easily into the removable drip pan drawer. I can't think of anything I DON'T like about this griddle and highly recommend it! (It would also make a wonderful present!!) I bit the bullet and went with the ceramic version over the normal nonstick coated version. This griddle is really good looking, it looks high end. For the price, it is an amazing kitchen appliance. I was able to scramble eggs then make fried eggs and there wasn't any residue or any loss of the nonstick ability. Even after making scrambled eggs, I managed to lose 3 fried eggs over the side, zero sticking. Pancakes were a breeze, steak, ham steaks, eggs, chicken, onion, and pretty much everything else I threw at it came off with ease. At first I questioned if it would have issues because of the "waffle" pattern etched into the griddle top but it cause no problems at all. I really LOVE how easy the griddle is to clean. After taking out the temperature control it's fully immersible to get into all the hard to reach spots. The removable temp control, legs, and drip tray make it easy to fit in small spaces if you have a small kitchen. On the flip side of the pro's of the removable legs, they are kind of on the flimsy side of durability. If possible, I would recommend trying to avoid removing them as much as you can. When washing the griddle of the ceramic version the edges are quite sharp. I would suggest being careful of the outer edge and not apply too much pressure on it while cleaning it. Last but not least, the old presto temp controllers used to have a metal type inlay for the temp dial indicator that since seems to have been downgraded to a sticker. I'd be afraid to wipe the dial too often and hard and ruin the sticker. The only other real gripe about the griddle is a problem that plagues all griddles, while there is even heat within the heating elements boarders, there is that "burn zone" directly above the heating element itself which is just a common issue with any and all griddles and not subject to solely this one. The Good: *Very very non-stick *Sexy sleek designer *Fully immersible *Removeable handles to make it thin enough to fit almost anywhere to store. The Bad: *Sticker on the heat control *Edges are a little sharp *Removable legs make it feel a little flimsy and the "clip" is a thin metal wire. ... show more
