I have a love-hate relationship with Dyson brand vacuums. They’re pretty expensive and they usually break pretty quickly. They’re also really big and hard to use as cordless stick vacuums go. Not so with this thing though- this Omni glide is really cool. It’s crazy lightweight and you can swing it back-and-forth and it picks up from both directions. The head is very small but we use it as a secondary upstairs vacuum and it works perfectly for that. If I had a small apartment it would be great for that.     • Very Good Vacuum
This product brings together all the features one might want in a vacuum designed for smooth floors. First, it has two counter-rotating brushes. No matter which direction the vac is being pushed or pulled, the dirt is being swept into the center area and the opposing brush will not let it escape. The brushes are soft and will not scratch the floor boards nor miss even tiny particles of dust. Even going diagonally across cracks will pick up particles from in the cracks, even at low speed. Second, the unit is easy to twist in circles around furniture legs, so there is no missing anything. Third, it will allow the handle to lay right down on the floor level so as to get under low furniture. Fourth, the unit stands on the floor against the wall and automatically helps the user set the height of the charger base. Great idea and great design. Works perfectly. Worked as expected for a couple months. I was satisfied. Now at 5 months, very unsatisfied. Cuts out immediately on max power. Battery life lower. Suction poor. Want to return for refund.

    • Not for someone with multiple pets
I struggled with the number of stars I should give this vacuum. The suction isn't the greatest but should be fine for crumbs on your hardwood or tile floor or if you have maybe one pet that doesn't shed a lot. A friend told me about this stick vacuum and how well it worked for her. But, she had no pets and used it daily for kitchen floor crumbs. I decided to try it, since we'd just installed luxury vinyl tile on our lower level and I wanted something lightweight that I could use daily to pick up pet hair. I knew almost immediately it wouldn't be enough to keep up with my zoo - 2 dogs, 3 cats, & a parrot and one of the dogs is a massive shedder. The beater bars would quickly stop rolling due to the amount of pet hair that would get wound around it. Eventually it stopped working. We'd had it only a few days so I don't know if it was too much pet hair or if it just broke. We returned it and the seller was wonderful, reimbursing us 100% of the price. It wasn't enough for my needs, but I deducted one star because for the price, it should have a little more suction. ... show more

This in my third purchase. Bought two last year for Christmas gifts, one for me one for my daughter & son in law. We all love them. This one is going to my second home. Easy to use, light weight, which helps my back . I can go through my condo very quickly. I have used these on large area rugs . My hair or lots of thing can get caught up. But it’s very easy to take the head apart and clean it up. Hold the charge for at least three or more uses. On a 1,300 sq ft condo with hard surfaces. Great product ... show more

Dyson is pricey, but so worth it! It picks up everything on the floor. Emptying it is easy. I can do my whole house on a single charge.

    • 3.5 stars. What it does good, it does really good. What's bad is really bad.
First off, this is designed for a purpose-hard floor, quick clean up. If that's not your only purpose, it's not for you. The good: lightweight with great suction for the size. The brush head swivels nicely. Emptying the bin is easy and hands free for the most part (see the bad below). The brush head comes apart quickly for easy cleaning. The brush head picks up dust and cleans it all at the same time. The bad: If you have long hair, this is probably not for you. When you empty the bin, you have to reach in to pull the junk that's stuck to the hair wrapped around the filter. Even though you can take the brush rolls off, hair still gets wrapped around the shafts and it's not easy to remove. I don't know if it was just mine, but the crevice tool does not fit nicely. The brush head and extension tube slide in and lock with a satisfying click, just like you would expect from a Dyson. However, the crevice tool only fits about 75% of the way in and doesn't lock into place. Overall the pros are exactly what I expect from Dyson. But the cons are not the quality you would expect out of a Dyson. This a premium price vacuum, it should not have these issues. ... show more

It's hard to find something to dislike with the Dyson Omni-Glide. Works great on hard surfaces and and even on low-pile rugs and carpets. Your not going to get the massive suction you get with bigger canister vacuums, but light duty pet, normal dust and dirt collect this is impressive.
