I've dealt with security cameras and their evolution for about 50+ years now. They have come a long way since the hard-wired camcorder sized devices of the past. I almost didn't buy this camera, regardless of the positive reviews, thinking a $40 wireless camera with a solar panel for charging can't be any good. I was wrong. (I made a note of this in my personal diary as I'm not often wrong. And I'm very humble. Sometimes.) First of all, one must have a capable internet connection and reasonably fast Wi-Fi . If your connection or coverage is questionable, this type of camera may not work well. The camera and the associated setup app has options for finding a placement location with best Wi-Fi strength and options for lowering the resolution of the camera, which may solve some connectivity issues. Thankfully, I did not have to utilize those options. Connecting the camera to the app was easy and accomplished on the workbench. The SD card fired up immediately with no formatting required. Installation was just a matter of selecting a desirable location and screwing mounting brackets in place for the camera and remote/separate solar panel. The solar panel has plenty of wire lead to allow it to be installed on the fascia board, or in my case a sturdy metal rain gutter, keeping the camera on the wall under the eaves. The picture is very satisfactory. The app allows preset views to be stored for quick movement to desired areas. Motion detection is about 30 feet as advertised, which is perfect for me. That avoids picking up unwanted traffic in the distance. Overall, this is a good security camera, at a great price-point. I'm planning to add one or two more to complete coverage around my 2+ acre lot and home perimeter. ... show more

Great camera for the price! Have two installed outside at my 87 mother's home. They were installed over a year ago. Still working great! They have a few hiccups ever now & then, but for the price they work pretty well. Setup was a breeze. Still maintain 100% charge through out the day. I check them about 20 times per day. Motion detection works good. The light & sound motion detection works well. Overall a good cheap security camera with ptz, free 20 second cloud videos, okay zoom, excellent battery like for a solar powered camera. ... show more

Nice camera and seems really clear on its picture quality. The camera speed was a bit slower than I expected. Zoom was good and quick. I sent it back because the motion detection did not have a follow on it.

    • Unreliable Cameras, Frustrating Support, & Constantly Getting the Ladder

I bought 10 of these cameras expecting reliable security, but they’ve completely failed me. At first, they worked fine, but now they don’t record motion properly. I get notifications that movement was detected, but when I go to check the recordings, they’re just not there. The cloud button is greyed out, and I can’t access the storage I’m paying for. On top of that, resetting these cameras is a nightmare. I mounted them high up, like most people would, to keep them out of reach. But every time there’s a Wi-Fi issue or I need to reset them, I have to drag out a ladder, climb up, and physically remove them. It’s beyond frustrating. A security camera should make things easier, not force you to risk your neck just to keep it working. I contacted customer support multiple times, and all they do is send the same canned responses without actually addressing the issue. I’ve checked all my settings, reset the cameras, and done everything on my end. The problem isn’t with my setup. Something has changed, and they won’t acknowledge it. If you’re buying these for home security, think twice. A security camera that doesn’t reliably record or save footage is completely useless. And unless you want to keep pulling out a ladder just to keep them running, I’d look elsewhere. ... show more
