I've dealt with security cameras and their evolution for about 50+ years now. They have come a long way since the hard-wired camcorder sized devices of the past. I almost didn't buy this camera, regardless of the positive reviews, thinking a $40 wireless camera with a solar panel for charging can't be any good. I was wrong. (I made a note of this in my personal diary as I'm not often wrong. And I'm very humble. Sometimes.) First of all, one must have a capable internet connection and reasonably fast Wi-Fi . If your connection or coverage is questionable, this type of camera may not work well. The camera and the associated setup app has options for finding a placement location with best Wi-Fi strength and options for lowering the resolution of the camera, which may solve some connectivity issues. Thankfully, I did not have to utilize those options. Connecting the camera to the app was easy and accomplished on the workbench. The SD card fired up immediately with no formatting required. Installation was just a matter of selecting a desirable location and screwing mounting brackets in place for the camera and remote/separate solar panel. The solar panel has plenty of wire lead to allow it to be installed on the fascia board, or in my case a sturdy metal rain gutter, keeping the camera on the wall under the eaves. The picture is very satisfactory. The app allows preset views to be stored for quick movement to desired areas. Motion detection is about 30 feet as advertised, which is perfect for me. That avoids picking up unwanted traffic in the distance. Overall, this is a good security camera, at a great price-point. I'm planning to add one or two more to complete coverage around my 2+ acre lot and home perimeter. ... show more

I bought 2 of these in December, I installed them in January, and waited a few months before writing the review. So, here it is, these cameras are great, I just bought 2 so I could test them well, to see if these were worth the price. It did, I’m ordering 4 more. These are very easy to install and set up. What I really was looking for was the solar power; I didn’t want to use a lot of cables and the distance of where the cameras are to any recording box and/or electricity box was far away, so I would need like 100 feet of cable. These are solar powered and Wi-Fi. The solar panel charged the battery very quickly and the camera picked up the Wi-Fi signal easily. I added a 128GB SD card, if you are not going to subscribe to their cloud service, you need the SD card. Besides, if you subscribe to the cloud service, the SD will function as a backup. The app for the phone (Android or iPhone) is very good and easy to use, it offers a lot of functions. They offer a cloud service, you can use the cameras without it, but it will only take snapshots, then you can connect, and watch live what’s happening. I recommend the cloud service, it gives you a lot of features, especially with things like recording when motion activated (not a snapshot), you can configure the length, identify objects, sensitivity, etc, etc. The service for unlimited cameras is about $8 a month, in my opinion it is worth it. So, if you’re looking for a good camera, with a lot of features, within a small budget, look no further, these are the ones… ... show more

Love the camera. Easy to set up, very clear picture and the 360 view is awesome. Had a bit of trouble figuring out how the sleep to wake timer set up worked, but upon finally getting it, it works great. After setting up the wake up time for when I want it to monitor the area I have it set up at, along with the alarm indicator alert in that area I selected, makes it even better. I’ve had this camera over a year and it still works fairly well. I’m happy with the clarity and the pan & tilt option. It’s mounted about 50’ from the router and works fine. I say fairly well because it sometimes doesn’t start recording early enough to capture the entire image.

Bought this Camera almost 2yrs ago, and it's set and forget, the Solar panel keeps it full charge even on cloudy days. Been working fine and I want to buy a second one bc they're perfect, even my friend with some fancy arlo cameras is jealous bc this one can Move and change angles on demand, vs his expensive set that are fixed facing the same direction all the time. ... show more

I bought one of these over a year ago to use as a game camera by my back yard deer stand about 100 yards from my house. I do have a wifi extender, but it picks up the signal with no problem and catches most of the deer and other animals that pass by. It's not a great trail cam, but it's not meant to be, though it does function fairly well. What is does give you is a camera that you can pan and tilt from your phone and you can even talk to the deer if you like. They seem to be a bit puzzled and frightened and quickly run away if you though. I've had one for well over a year and the solar panel is all that has ever powered it and it continues to work well. Anyway, it worked so well that I bought another one this spring to put on my garage for it's intended purpose. The Vico Home app works well enough for monitoring them and I think it only cost about $3 a month for a base subscription. It works so well I recommended it to a friend for his lake cabin and I would definitely recommend it to others. ... show more
