  • Takes a lickin and keeps on chippin.
This product works great of you use it properly. Straight sticks without side branches work workout any issues. If there are side branches, cut them off as close to the main branch as possible. Sometimes when they get short they will stop feeding until you feed another branch. Any thing attached to the stick (leaves, flowers) will create resistance to the auto feeding of the unit and will require you to push it by hand or with the supplied tool. Make sure you have a heavy duty extension cord that isnt any longer than necessary. The first extension cord i had it hooked to got very hot. Changed to a shorter one and no problem. Occasionally it will overload. Bigger hardwood sticks or too many sticks at one time can cause this. Or having your output blocked because the bag needs dumped. If it overloads and stops, usually you can pull out whatever you're feeding it and reset/restart it and it works fine. Sometimes something will get really jammed, and then you have to rotate the knob that connects the plastic housing to the base for what seems like a million turns to seperate the two. This exposes the blades, which probably have a piece of wood tightly jammed between the blades and the base of the machine. Unplug it and then clear the jam. When it seems to stop feeding or feeding a lot slower, which happened for me after about 6 hours of steady shredding, the blades are probably shot. They are 2 sided, and one side is not used into you swap the edges. Use an allen head wrench to remove the screws and flip them around. That's about it. Enjoy not having to haul loads to the recycle bin! ... show more

  • shreds small sticks and yard waste once you get it in the machine
I bought this because I have a tree that drops a lot of limps all the time. I was hoping it would also mulch my leaves in a better way than the mower. Sadly it takes a long long long time to push leaves into the opening. With that said, it shreds the sticks from my yard like a pro!!! Like the description says. I put a lot through the machine and it has not plugged up on me. it was easy to put together just a few screws to hold the legs up. It fits in my garage and takes up little space. I left it in the rain to get rinsed off, the inside stayed clean and unplugged throughout use. I wish the opening to put sticks and such was bigger or had like a funnel to make it easier to put leaves through the opening. I really enjoyed the attached box on the bottom to catch all of the shredded sticks and stuff. ... show more

  • Does exactly what it's designed to do!
The media could not be loaded. This is a good solution for homeowners to chip up yard sticks, palm fronds, and other smaller yard debris. I've had it for several weeks and use it for an average of 20 minutes. I bought a 10 ft heavy duty extension cord which keep the chipper from running out of enough power. The instructions are clear and useful so please read & follow them. It's very easy to assemble and use since it's on wheels and doesn't weigh very much. The bin is certainly worth the extra cost since it prevents a mess and the unit won't accidentally start unless the bin latch is in place. I believe that it is a very safe chipper. Okay, it won't handle big logs but that's what a gas power chipper is designed to do. I use the chippings in my garden beds as mulch and compost other chippings. I give it 5 stars and certainly recommend it for it's intended use! ... show more

  • Does what it needs to, mostly.
The media could not be loaded. So this thing definitely chips up wood and takes leaves very well....until it doesn't. We were running a very middle of the road pile of branches through (not dry ut not green, not very hard but not mushy) and we got maybe 40% of this pile from our 6' tall, 3' wide shrub when it stopped pulling the branches in and we needed to manually push them. It was noticeably slower, all around bad after only 2 hours of on and off use. We called it a night and returned a few days later hoping to solve the problem and finish the pile. We rotated the blades (there are 2 double sided blades, so when one side gets dull you can rotate) and boom it worked perfectly again. The fact that the blades dulled that fast is a very concerning thing. Replacement blades aren't a wild price, but having to replace the blades for each shrub we do? No way. We are going to have to look into other blades made of a metal that isn't so soft. These blades have so many chips already, I'm worried we would have to replace the blades twice to munch down each of our oleanders. Overall it is fine, does what it needs to, isn't horribly loud (still wear eye and ear protection, your senses are worth a lot), but it will go through blades like crazy. ... show more

i bought this last spring and never used it untill this summer it only works on dry twigs not sticks ive spent more time openening it up to unplug it than anything else it takes forever to unscrew the hinge or whatever releases the top and anything even damp plugs it up so no fresh or green anything that makes it alot less useful but even dry twigs have to fed in very efficicently or your taking it apart again . so i hope ive helped someone save some money time and grief its just not worth it ... show more
