    • Bolts fall out
This product has bolts that are too small. The handle bolts fell out the first time I used it. It cut ok at first so I kept the mower and got replacement bolts. Now after using it for only 2 months more bolts are falling out and the thing is vibrating like crazy. The manufacturer was too cheap to use the right size bolts. There's a lot to like about this Power Smart mower. It's mid March and the grass isn't growing yet, but I looked at this mower from top to bottom and liked what I saw. Here's what impressed me, and what (and there wasn't much), that could be a bit better. The mower feels light and nimble, yet it has a strong steel deck. My dad bought a couple of mowers with light alloy decks and we put a few rocks right through the sides. No worries when the deck is steel. I really like the quick release levers on the upper handle. It makes folding for storage much easier and quicker. The top handle has a thick foam cover on the bar, but you loose some of that comfort when you pull in the safety lever. An indent in the handle to conceal the smaller lever would be sweet! The spark plug boot is metal. Very durable and a nice addition. I also really like the front and back height adjusters. There's just one lever for the front wheels and just one for the back. I know some mowers have a single lever for all four wheels, but I really prefer having two, because when I run into very high, overgrown grass, I can keep the front wheels higher than the back for easier cutting. Having three mowing options - side discharge, bag or mulch is always nice. The side chute and bag attach easily and firmly. The bag has a rear strap handle for easier unloading, and the side discharge chute locks in place firmly. It looks to me like you could, if you wanted to, bolt the chute in place. There are holes in the chute that line up with dimples in the deck. You could drill down through the dimples and add bolts. I added the supplied 10w30 oil and gassed it up. There's a primer bulb, and that's good. It appears to be made of neoprene perhaps? I like this much better than the plastic ones most primer bulbs are made of. Pushed the primer three times and the engine fired up on the second pull. Let it sit for 10 minutes and it started up with no primer on the first pull. Just a note on the engine oil. The manual notes in multiple places, that it takes 16.9 oz. of oil, but the tag on the engine and the supplied bottle of oil is 13.5 oz. ? - The 13.5 ounces of oil do fill it up. I imagine they just need to revise the manual. Also there is no mention of how to drain the oil when it needs a change. There's no drain plug on the bottom so like many other mowers you simply need to tip it on its side and drain out through the filler. As for the the few thing I would add or change to up its rating from really good to top notch; + Adding a fuel shut off valve is something I like on all my lawn and garden equipment. + Change the oil fill plug to a screw on rather than a push in rubber plug. + Changing the grass diverter under the deck from plastic to metal for durability. This “PowerSmart Gas Lawn Mower” is a very impressive push mower. It comes with everything you need. It includes a catch bin, side grass shoot, can of oil, funnel, and instructions. This has a strong 144cc engine that should be able to easily cut most lawns. It has a good size 21 inch cutting area which is fairly standard for most push mowers. I did not need any tools to assemble this as it is mostly assembled already. The instructions were good, with one issue. The instructions state that the “capacity of the engine crankcase is 16.9 fl. oz.” however, the oil container they provide has only “13.5oz” of the recommended 10W-30W oil. I filled the mower with the oil provided and then let it sit for a while. Then I checked the oil level twice and the dip stick showed that the oil was at the exact level it should be. My only conclusion is that the instructions are wrong, and the crankcase takes 13.5oz of oil. Once assembled, the oil and gas added, I pressed the primer button three times and pulled the start rope. To my pleasant amazement, this mower started right up first pull. Wow, a mower that had never been started before, started on the first pull! I then ran the mower for a few seconds and shut it down and let it sit for a minute before moving it onto my lawn. Again I pulled the start rope, and it once again fired right up.
