πŸš€ Abunda's Overview

Customers find the self-propelled lawn mower appealing for its power, ease of assembly, and good quality cut. It features user-friendly height adjustment, easy start-up, and a self-propel function that works well. However, issues with it being heavyweight and damage during shipping are considerable downsides, with some reports of mechanical failures shortly after use.

Pros

  • πŸ‘ Powerful engine for effective mowing
  • πŸ› οΈ Easy to assemble and adjust
  • πŸƒ Self-propel feature works efficiently
  • πŸ”§ Durable with a good quality cut
  • 🌿 Offers bagging, mulching, and side discharge options

Cons

  • βš–οΈ Heavy, which can make maneuvering difficult
  • πŸ“¦ May arrive damaged from shipping
  • 🐌 Self-propel feature might be too fast for some
  • βš™οΈ Potential mechanical issues early in use

Should I Buy It?

If you need a mower with multiple functionalities and aren’t deterred by the potential need for adjustments upon arrival, this self-propelled lawn mower could be a good value. However, if you prefer a lighter mower or are concerned about maneuverability and possible early malfunctions, you might want to consider other options.

  • Heavy Duty Mower
Style: Self Propelled Lawn Mower
Ok, first off this mower was delivered a day later than expected. No big deal. I can handle that. Secondly, this mower is quiet heavy. So, if you're a smaller person, such as myself, pushing this monster could prove quiet difficult, especially on hillsides. But remember it is self-propelled. However, even in the lowest speed when self-propelled is engaged, this tank proves its worth. It can be quiet challenging to control, most certainly for smaller guys and girls. Upon taking it out of the box, the mower is assembled already. Not much to it really. Third, make sure you tighten everything including wheels and check blade. Typically, manufactures do not tighten parts all the way due to shipping the product as well as to prevent damage to vital components. You will need to add your oil and fuel. Oil is included in a separate pouch in the box. It also comes with a nice funnel. Which was an added bonus. I didn't anticipate the funnel to be included. Read your Manuel. I honestly don't like doing this just as much as the next person. However, this may actually save you a major headache later. Other than that, as I previously mentioned this mower is quiet on the heavier side. It was difficult to push even without being in operation. If you follow the manuel you're on your way to several years of good use if you care for it properly. You will certainly get your weekly workout when you're cutting your grass with this mega mower. I have used it two times now, and it does cut your area very nicely, and it has multiple height levels to meet your changing needs for grass height. It mulches great, and the mulching bag, it great, however, I can't attest at the moment to how it holds up, as I haven't used it yet. We have a lot of trees surrounding our property, so I figured I would use that feature in the fall. ... show more

  • I Absolutely Love It!!
Style: Self Propelled Lawn Mower
I chose this mower over others for the sheer power it has. No longer do I have to push my self-propelled mowers up a small incline. This little gift from the Power God is nothing short of Amazing!! It puts the other mowers I have bought in the past to shame!! Even a Steep Incline is no match for this powerhouse!! I also bought it because of the 6 speeds. It really saves TIME and MONEY!! The Time is easy enough to figure out but it saves Money by throwing the mower in a faster speed it barely uses any gas. I stopped it once after cutting the same amount I was forced to with other mowers, opened the cap, and stood in amazement, it was down maybe an inch. The electric start is a Time & Physical Saver!! It starts right up every time!! In fact the only thing I found that was a little much was its weight but with what you save, you can just shrug that off. The height adjustment lever is INGENIOUS!! I even had a problem during shipment a bolt was bent due to that the knob was stripped. I called the company and was immediately sent out the parts I needed. The help desk was very knowledgeable and very friendly. I received the knob and bolt in 2 days. If you are tired of your β€œself”-propelled mower is wearing you out and costing a fortune in gas, YOU CANNOT GO WRONG!! This is my First Yardmax product but they have me for life now!! Excellent Product!! Time, Gas, and Back Saver!! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ€˜πŸ»πŸ€πŸΌπŸ«ΆπŸ»βœŒπŸ» ... show more

  • Total junk DO NOT BUY!
Style: Self Propelled Lawn Mower
WHAT A LEMON!?!!! UPDATE: WHEN THE BLADE HIT THE AXLE IT BUSTED UP THE ENGINE. COMPANY SAID THEY ARE GOING TO GIVE ME A REFUND AND WARRANTY WILL BE DONE. WAITING FOR A CHECK I THINK THEY ARE STALLING. Update: while removing the cover to get at pulley the cover was full of debris again! This is what caused the original problem when the belt and plastic pulleys burned up and melted. Update: attempted to replace drive pulley. The old pulley is missing the set secrew. I can't budge old pulley and I'm not buying a puller. New pulley doesn't fit motor shaft the bore is too small. Update: Amazon says this purchase is non- refundable so if you buy this junk you are out of luck!!! The gas cap is way too tight will try to file the threads down a little. A locknut came up missing that goes on the bolt that holds the lever arm for adjusting the height. Don't know if it was missing from factory or never tightened properly at factory. The bolt was still there because it gets trapped behind the rear wheel and can't fall off. The drive control is way too touchy and way too fast even on lowest setting. Drive belt burned up. Plastic pulley for belt melted. Why plastic? When looking up drive belt to get a belt number there is none just says belt. Not going to use without side discharge anymore because debris builds up around pulleys and belt. This mower is poor design and quality. Now missing bolt and locknut that holds front right axle on deck housing. New season still falling apart! Side chute rubs on wheel. Front wheel feel off and got ground up in the mower! This things a death trap! Total piece of crap! Company will send parts but I'm tired of trying to repair it! Front wheels held in place with tiny bolts!! Worst thing I ever purchased on Amazon! DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK! UPDATE: customer manager doesn't speak to customers on the phone only by email! Sent me a bunch of parts to try and piece mower back together. New gas cap same as original doesn't fit and gas leaks. Sent a smaller engine drive pulley to try and slow this thing down. Can't install because blade holder seized to motor shaft. Sent a bunch of upgrade parts for front axle. I just want my money back!! PS reported to consumer safety commission and BBB. DON'T BUY THIS JUNK!!! ... show more

  • Cleaning the Carburetor before starting may be necessary!
Style: Self Propelled Lawn Mower
This is a awesome mower! It operates as expected! One thing you should know about! After the factory testing, all fluids are removed to ship to Distributors. This is necessary to prevent leak on packaging and meet shipments safely requirements. My mower wouldn't start because from the testing, residential dried gasoline chemicals weren't removed from the Carburetor before shipment. This is a essential to obtain optimum performance! Check out a YouTube video. I recommend removing the filter cover two 10mm screws and a hose clamp take off the carb. & spray it generously with carburetor cleaner. Put everything back together as originally installed. This is easy if you're mechanically minded. Otherwise consider going directly to a Box store to purchase your mower. Perhaps many expect these to run perfectly out of the box. Unfortunately I have had to install well known brands of car batteries on a job. Sometimes new ones fail DOA. upon proper installation. Don't get mad at me for telling you the truth. Don't be upset with the Distributors or manufacturers. Just accept that not everything is perfect no matter what you paid for it! All that said, I love ❀️ this mower. It started first pull each time after cleaning the Carburetor. ... show more

  • Powerful engine for a push mower Powerful engine for a push mower
Style: Self Propelled Lawn Mower
YardMax has come a long way with their mowers. It has a powerful engine and appears to be quality made. While it can go fast, the slow setting is exactly that ... slow. I am going to focus on why I took off one star. First, the speed selector keeps slipping from 3 to 1 for no reason. It is like it can't stay locked. Secondly, you have to grip two different bars. One to propel the mower and one to engage the blades. If you have small hands they are probably going to get sore. I would suggest wearing leather work gloves. And third, although the tires are rubber with nubs for traction, this is only good when the grass is dry. Otherwise the grass sticks to the tires and makes the traction moot. On the plus side, it has a great height adjustment lever, tires are great when it is dry, the metal frame appears to be good quality, and the engine is powerful. I don't live on a golf course. I have a real lawn with weeds and holes ... and this mower powers through without problems. Overall it is worth the price compared to other mowers in it's price range and size. One other thing to mention. If you saw the picture, the box was delivered soaking wet. It didn't get to the mower, but obviously it had set in a puddle of water to make this heavy box waterlogged. I was disappointed that UPS would allow that to happen. ... show more

  • Too much power
Style: Self Propelled Lawn Mower
I’ve really only used this three times and now the carburetor needs replacing. This mower is definitely a beast as other reviews mentioned and it’s why I bought it. My husband uses our zero turns for our large yards but I don’t like him mowing around my gardens and usually do it myself. I’m one of those tough females who does everything for myself but this mower is a beast! I wish id never bought it but I’m stuck with it. I always have to find a guy to start it when it’s been setting for a while. I’m still using my regular ole mower for the portion of the yards I mow by hand. I’ve ordered a new carburetor last week and the sight hasn’t even given me a shipping yet. I’m still waiting. ... show more

  • Worth every penny!
Style: Self Propelled Lawn Mower
I was looking for a lawn mower that was economical but would be sturdy enough to last. I think I've found exactly what I was looking for in this Yardmax. This self-propelled model is rear-wheeled drive, was extremely easy to set up, and has been the easiest machine to start that I've every used in a gas operated version. To be completely honest, it's been a long time since I've used a lawn mower any where around my home. The land is too rough. I usually use a trimmer/edger. In this case, it's been a Black+Decker battery operated version that I absolutely love. I'm on my second; I used the first until it wore out! However, it's a lot area to cover just using that. So...that's where the lawn mower comes in. But I want something that is worth the money. From what I can tell, the Yardmax is. It's able to cover almost every type of ground that I've put it on, and it's not stopped by tall grass. I do mean TALL grass. It is easy to adjust the cut/wheel height. It has power to keep moving and is rarely ever stopped. The 'walking' adjustments are appropriate. This is something that the reviews were very divided on; several commented that even the slowest was too fast. Overall, I would give the mower a very solid 4.8. ... show more
