    • Well-constructed portable solar panel
Just took out two Powerness 120W portable solar panels and added an 8mm to 5521 dc adapter to fit my VTOMAN Jump 1000. In mid-winter late in afternoon and partially blocked by trees, I got 55Watts out of each of these panels. When sun is higher inclination, I figure they will do 80ish Watts. Solar panels always seem to get less than stated max power rating from my experience. Onboard display on back of panel is great tool and read 2.3Amps @ 23.5VDC when charging solar power station. Do wish as an electrical engineer that all these manufacturers would standardize the solar panel connector type so you don’t need adapters from one brand of power station to the next! Overall quality and ruggedness for travel/camping seems good for less money than Jackery panel. No complaints so far. Update 4/12/2024 Finally got perfect conditions to test all 3 Powerness 120W solar panels and got 103W, 103W, and 98W out of them at 12:30 pm. Excellent output powers! My twice as expensive Bluetti 200W panel only put out 149W, which doesn’t justify its $450 compared to the 120W Powerness at $180ish Correction: The Bluetti eb3a seems to input limit the current to 8.3Amps, which explains the lower than expected output from the Bluetti PV200 200W panel. When tested into AC200Max, the PV200 puts out 178 Watts ... show more

    • Solution To Jackery 1000 input not working.

It is important to note that input into a Jackery 1000 must be lower than 165W and 30AMP with the 200 Powerness. Also note that the battery should be 80% or less to get input from the solar panels as Jackery did not accept wattage unless I started at 80% battery charge level or less. I’ll write another review in the field when I use it consistently. Customer service was good. They communicated well. Additionally, we have set the maximum working voltage of the solar panel is 29V, and the Current maximum to 6.9A, so the solar panel's maximum output power could be 200W(29V*6.9A). In this way, the Powerness 200W solar panel is totally compatible with the Jackery Explorer 1000 power station(Solar input support: Voltage12-30V, Current 7.5-8.33A ). ... show more

I was able to set up this panel in just a few minutes. The rigid structure made pointing at the sun very easy, using the included folding stand legs. Very quickly the panels were delivering over 73 Watts into a load resistor. The power output remained high at slight changes in sun angle and even when slight atmospheric mist lowered the sun intensity. The Voltmeter and Ammeter displays agreed with my laboratory instruments. I can imagine that a location with more intense sun and zero humidity in the sky would easily exceed the rating of 80 Watts. It is common for so many products to have completely incorrect ratings in battery capacity, light output, or power production. This product did not disappoint me and I will rely on it for my solar charging needs. ... show more

Paired this with a Jackery 300 explorer, (using the 80wt. version) and it charged as claimed. No need to waste money on similar units that cost more. This works well. (Must use in direct sunlight however for best results, and did not recieve any charge on a cloudy day.) I tried both methods.

Update. I've downgraded this review. First to give more information about the incompatibility with Goal Zero. The plastic housing around the barrel connector (DC connector) doesn't leave enough room on the metal connector part for it to insert properly into Goal Zero (and other jacks). I found an adaptor from a third party that fits on the the Powerness cord and then fits into the Goal Zero jack. This worked for a bit, but now the real problem with this panel is.... It just Plain Stopped Working! While I was out with my van, I did have it working both through the SAE connection (after playing around with SAE adaptors and figuring out the polarity), but it was finnicky at best. It never produced more than 50% of the total wattage, and it would work for a bit then stop charging the battery. If I reset the plugs, it would work for a little bit and then stop again. I did get some power going through the direction connection to the battery as well, with the same issues. Then at one point it just stopped charging the battery through either connection. I thought it might be the cabling I was using, but I tried a couple of different after-market cables for the SAE connection, and I was using a Powerness extension for the direct connection to the battery. The USB-C connection from the panel does charge my phone though....big woop! 200 watts and several hundred dollars to charge a phone. So I'm thinking there may be an issue with the direct connect/barrel connection wire from the panel. Unfortunately I was away for a couple of weeks and missed the opportunity to return this piece of junk. If I could do it again, I'd stay away from this product. This review is not complete yet because I have yet to get it to work through the direct connection to my van's SAE jack. I have a DC to SAE adapter made by Goal Zero and that didn't work on my van. That said, this is supposed to be compatible with Goal Zero and the DC plug does NOT fit the input on my Goal Zero Yeti battery. Now one could say that Goal Zero shouldn't make their own specific 8mm DC inputs, and they'd be right, but this panel should not advertise that they're compatible with it. ... show more

    • An excellent value.
This is a 120W solar panel set with no charge controller or voltage regulator, but multiple connector options. It is designed for battery stations with solar charge ports/options, not battery charging or maintenance. The output voltage can be as high as about 21V whihc is not good for batteries. Battery stations designed for solar charging have voltage regulators built into their charge port so there is no danger for them. I can get 90+ watts from these panels. The 120 rating is not a reality. Chinese manufacturers always over rate their electrical products. Setup is a little awkward with 4 panels and the floppy legs, but nothing you cannot manage. It's every bit as good and practical as the Jackery panels at a fraction of the price. ... show more
