Top Amazon Reviews

  • Great initial quality.
Style: 160lbs. No Leg Press
A quick review just after assembly and the first day using it: Item ships in 4 boxes: 3x50lb with weights and a big 8-ft long one with other parts. Once you pull out separate parts from the box (bars, seat, nuts and bolts) a single person can carry the main frame easily (maybe 50 lb in weight). Took me about one hour to assemble once I got the parts into the basement. Instructions in the manual are good enough. For assembly you'll need two wrenches (I used a wrench and a ratcheting socket, allen wrenches are included). I put it together alone, but would be easier with a partner. When I was buying it, I was somewhat worried about the height. My basement has 81" ceiling, the machine is listed as 80" tall. In reality, my copy is about 79" from the bottom to the top of the high cable roller. Beware though - if you try to do standing shoulder press, 81" ceiling is not high enough. I'm short, but was hitting the ceiling with handles. No biggie anyway, just do seated shoulder presses. The quality of the metal, welds and paint is good. I like a little foam pad around the middle of the pulldown bar - can't count how many times I hit the back of my neck with the bar before. Minor gripes are as follows: (1) The bars for foam rollers are passed directly through the holes in the frame, without pass-through tubes. I expect either the walls of the frame or, more likely, the bars to start wearing out with time. Will see. (2) Foam rollers are held in place by plastic caps. Not sure how long those would last. Push comes to shove I'll machine those out of aluminum. (3) The short handle for low cable needs some grease - the collar moves a bit rough around the handle. My wife and I worked out on it. Works just fine - smooth cable movement, good range of adjustment. Overall I am pleasantly surprised with the initial quality of the machine. It is not the cheapest, but saving a couple of hours worth of work in assembly, seemingly quality materials, and very compact size are worth the price difference, IMHO. For those asking if additional weights can be added. Short answer - not without replacing the adjustment rod. It is not long enough to accommodate more plates. The machine seems solid enough to handle maybe additional 50 lbs, but that would definitely stress the plastic rollers. ... show more

  • Great Home Gym
Style: 160lbs. No Leg Press
I rarely write reviews but this gym exceeded my expectations. I'm hoping that my brother-in law will read this and add it to his basement gym room that he has been working on for the past 4 years so I can use it the next time I visit. Shipping and Packaging- I live in a rural area off a small winding road. The driver had no problem getting it here. It arrived in a tractor trailer strapped to a pallet. The main box says it's 81.7" x 27.4" x 13.4". The metal weights were in 3 small boxes. The driver took it off the pallet and easily wheeled the boxes into my garage on a small hand truck. One or two people could easily drag the box if they had to. The packaging was impressive. The cardboard carton was wood reinforced at several points. Inside the box all the parts were packed tightly with cardboard spacers and strapped securely together with heavy duty zip ties. Don't go wild cutting the ties. The main frame ties need to be left on until the legs are attached. Assembly- I followed the instructions and had no problem doing this by myself. The main frame already has the pulleys and cables attached. I tipped the unit up and used a chair against one side of it for safety while I put the back legs on. After this you can walk it into place and finish the assembly. I set it on a "CAP Barbell Anti-Microbial 6 piece Puzzle Mat" over the concrete floor. This was the perfect size for the unit. The instructions were 6 pages and very simple. Written on the left page with a schematic on the right. The fasteners were vacuum-sealed onto a piece of cardboard over a size description of the part. They weren't numbered like the instruction book but the sizes were stated and easy to figure out. All the holes lined up and the nuts and bolts threaded perfectly. Anyone who has ever put anything together can easily do this. It's not an Ikea type project. You can download the manual at powerlinefitness.com or bodysolid.com to see what is involved. Quality and Function- Even though the box says it's made in China I was impressed. The tubing and welding are of good quality. (I was a welder decades ago.) All the parts run smoothly and quietly. You don't have to change parts or re-route cables to use it. Much better than my 1990's old-school gym from Sears. It has more than enough weight and exercises for the average person that wants to get in shape or add muscle definition. Needing a unit that would fit in a limited space and after researching other units that were more expensive and also much less, I am glad I choose this one. ... show more
