Description

We call it the "BIG SUCKER" for a reason! This powerful swimming pool leaf vacuum is a must have for in-ground and above-ground pools. The power is in the 8 mini jets; once connected to your garden hose, the eight water nozzles, located on the underside of the pool vacuum, turn into mini jets that create a strong suction to help pull leaves into the mesh vacuum bag for a quick and easy pool cleaning experience. Easy to use, the water flow from the garden hose creates a powerful whirlwind that quickly sucks leaves, dirt and debris off the bottom of the pool and into the bag for removal. Four multi-directional wheels aid in easily maneuvering the vacuum along the pool floor, to quickly remove big loads of leaves, dirt and debris. It is not just a pool sweeper, it is a leaf sucker and leaf destroyer! Easy to assemble, this popular pool vacuum uses a standard garden hose, and features a quick- disconnect pool vacuum adapter. A must have tool for pool maintenance! Includes 1 reusable mesh vacuum bag. Garden hose and pool pole sold separately. From the Manufacturer The Big Sucker Leaf Vacuum offers a durable long life ABS body, it has the power of 8 high pressure water jets. These jets speed up the removal of leaves and debris.

  • Powerful Leaf Vacuum That Saves Hours of Work
Style: Big Sucker
Powerful Leaf Vacuum That Saves Hours of Work The Poolmaster 28300 “Big Sucker” lives up to its name. This simple garden-hose-powered vacuum is a lifesaver if you’ve got leaves sinking to the bottom of your pool. I’ve used it after windstorms and at spring opening when the pool was littered with debris, and it really does pull in large amounts quickly. The eight jets create a strong venturi effect that lifts leaves straight into the attached mesh bag, and the four swivel wheels make it glide smoothly along the floor. What I like most is how much faster it is than scooping with a net—you can cover the whole pool bottom in a fraction of the time. The included bag is reusable, and replacement bags (fine or heavy-duty mesh) are easy to find. Assembly is straightforward: connect a garden hose and a telescoping pole, and you’re good to go. There are a couple of quirks to keep in mind. The unit isn’t weighted, so it takes a steady hand to keep it flat on the pool floor. The mesh bag works great for leaves and twigs, but finer debris like silt will pass right through. Also, if you overfill the bag, it can slip off when you lift it out, so it’s best to empty frequently. Bottom line: A must-have for pool owners dealing with heavy leaf fall or post-storm cleanup. It won’t replace your regular pool vacuum for fine dirt, but for big debris it’s fast, efficient, and worth every penny. ... show more

  • Works well with pool filter.

Worked well when we had our pool.

  • Works as it's supposed to.
Style: Big Sucker
Very effective at cleaning up large debris that settles on the bottom when high winds bring down a lot of leaves and such. This thing was great and spitting those twirly seedlings that flutter out of poplar trees too. Obviously, this can't replace an actual vacuum. But it's great to have on hand when you need to get up some large debris after a storm or to pick up some big stuff so that your vacuum doesn't have to be cleaned before it's finished. I like that the hose attachment snaps off, like an air hose or pressure washer nozzle, making it easier to attach or detach from the hose. If there are any possible weaknesses to the unit, it would have to be in materials. The swivel on the wheels seems a bit stiff, but still seem to turn well enough under water. The quick cinch on the mesh bag could be a bit stronger or the lip it goes under a bit wider. It slides off and on very easy and doesn't seem to loosen up but, once, when pulling the leaf catcher out of the water, with its bag a little over half full of debris, the bag slipped off the bowl and nearly fell back into the water before I caught it. Lastly, the plastic pole assembly is probably a weak point in the design that will eventually break, as it's just cheap plastic. Fortunately, it also appears to be a fairly common fitting, so it shouldn't be too hard to replace. If you can't see the bottom of the pool, as we couldn't when opening the pool at the start of the season, it can sometimes be difficult to tell the orientation of the unit. Since it's not weighted, at one point I discovered I'd actually been pushing it on its side. That said, weighing it down, would make it heavier to pull out of the water with a loaded bag, putting even more stress on the plastic pole hinge. Lightweight expandable water hoses don't pull on it as much, making it less likely to turn on its side, but at the expense of much less water volume. I ultimately found holding the water hose alongside the pole kept it out of the way and prevented it from capsizing the leaf catcher. Tying the hose to the pole should be even easier for bigger cleanups. It came fully assembled except for the mesh bag, which just has to be pulled over the top and cinched to the bowl. ... show more

  • Awesome product!
Style: Big Sucker
Before receiving this product I was doubtful such a simple and inexpensive tool would work. We were hit pretty hard by hurricane Florence last September and I wasn't able to clean and winterize our above ground pool like I wanted to. We barely had time to get the cover on it. Needless to say, I had quite the mess at the bottom of my pool. Leaves, funk and everything imaginable was at the bottom of my pool. I first tried the skimmer with the extension pole to try get the leaves out. Then I tried the vacuum that I normally use with the sand filter. The vacuum head opening kept getting clogged. After a few hours and not making much progress I called it a day. I was looking on amazon and found this leaf vacuum. OMG! Best money I have ever spent. It took maybe 45 minutes tops to get 6 bags of leaves and yuck out from the pool. Now my pool is spotless leaf and funk free. I didn't have to hook it up to my sand filter. I just connected the garden hose and the pole extension from the skimmer I already had. Another great thing is you can run your filter while you are using this product so it's getting everything that is stirred up from the bottom. It worked great in a short amount of time and not the least bit strenuous. So if you are contemplating buying or not buying this product. Buy it! It is awesome and works! ... show more

  • Its okay
Style: Big Sucker
So I do like this and it does work really well however, if you have a lot of debris on t he bottom if the bag gets full, when I go to bring it out of pool the inner ring that the bag goes around snaps off so easily that it falls in pool. This has caused me a ton of extra work as a bunch of debris falls back into the pool. What I dont understand is WHY is that ring removable Makes absolutely no sense. The bag is draw string so it adjusts to easily fit around it. I am going to glue the ring on so it says in place then I am sure it will work way better. Also a water shut off switch would be great so you dont have to turn the hose off every time you use it or have to kink the hose. Or just get drenched in the face when trying to pull the bag out of the water without the ring popping off. Overall great idea, just needs some major tweaks. ... show more

  • It really worked well!
Style: Big Sucker
I didn't expect it to work so well, but it succeeded where others failed. It picked up the entire pool in two goes and was super easy to work with. If you zip tie the garden hose to the pole while using it, it makes it so much easier. Would recommend to others. Great product!

  • Missing an essential feature
Style: Big Sucker
When first using this new cleaner, I was impressed at how easy it was to maneuver--so much lighter than my previous cleaner. But over a month of usage, I noticed that the cleaner didn't seem to vacuum as well as the same-type cleaner it replaced. I find that I have to retrace areas 2-3 times, especially at all the pool's corners and the along the entire length of the pool's bottom-to-sides edge. Some many days later, I was out cleaning my pool while having a conversation with a friend and explained to them my experience with the Poolmaster Big Sucker. After looking at the cleaner, my friend quickly pointed out that the problem with the Big Sucker was it's missing the brushes normally found along the bottom edge of the cleaner, near its wheels--in fact, the slots for the brushes appear to be there but don't have any brushes installed in these slots or channels that seem to be made for the brushes. I happened to still have my old cleaner and went to look and sure enough, the old cleaner has the same design but with brushes installed in the slots. I attached the old cleaner and began to use it and instantly could tell that the brushes are integral to the function of the cleaner. The short brushes appear to provide a necessary space between the bottom of the cleaner and the pool surface creating an enhanced vacuuming effect--the old cleaner was vacuuming up the debris/leaves with no problem even though it had one broken wheel! I reattached the Big Sucker and started using it again and could clearly tell that without the brushes providing the necessary vacuuming gap, much of the debris/leaves needing to be passed over 2-3 times vigorously in order to vacuum them. The brushes are also necessary to provide a buffer to guide the cleaner when it transitions the slope/curve of pool surfaces--without the brush edge, the Big Sucker's bottom edge scrapes and stutters against the differing pool surfaces. After this, I went back and looked at the Big Sucker Amazon page and noticed most all of the customer pictures showing the bottom cleaner also have empty brush slots. Now that I know what the problem is I can't recommend this product and feel customers should be aware of this. ... show more

  • It works! It REALLY works !!
Style: Big Sucker
I had only fleeting hope that this would help me get the leaves out of the bottom of my above ground pool. Chasing the leaves around the bottom with a skimmer and pole was not an easy task.... so I thought, what the heck, ordered this and in 5 minutes the leaves were in the top of the mesh net and with a flip of the pole, i took the leaf vacuum out of the pool along with all the leaves. When I got this i expected it to be heavier but was pleasantly surprised that it was not. It is just the right weight (light) and size for what it does. I had to read the directions carefully to understand how it should work. Took a couple of minutes - put the mesh net on the top of the blue roller piece and tighten. put the skimmer pole in the space where it goes, attach the garden hose in the only place it can go. Now be careful, if you do not have the leaf vacuum in the pool when you turn the water on, duh... it will go everywhere..., turn the water on, but if you have a turn on tap on the hose use it, until you get the vacuum in the pool. put the blue piece with the wheels on the bottom of the pool. Turn the hose on full speed and push the vacuum over your leave and pine needles on the bottom of the pool and watch them go up into the mesh netting just by the force of the water.... omg it is awesome. only took 5 mins to get the leaves in the middle of my pool out. Worked as it said it would! was careful when i got the vacuum near the edge of the pool to take it out. once you turn off the hose the leaves will fall out of it, so turn it upside down where the top of the closed net will fall toward the bottom of the pool, turn off the hose and then just pull the vacuum to the side of the pool and take it out all the leaves in tact in the mesh net........simple, easy, not heavy and yes if you read the instructions... it really works for leaves and debris. ... show more
