With all the precautions that come with it I was a little bit nervous to use this. But as long as you follow a couple of key rules, it works great. You cannot touch the water while it is plugged in, ever if you just want to see how warm it's getting. Unplug it then you can put your finger in there. And you must put enough water in the bucket to completely immerse the metal because if you don't the metal part that is not immersed will get incredibly hot and possibly burn out. This works great for when you want to take a shower while camping or if you want to warm up a small kiddie pool. It takes 20 minutes or so to heat up a 5-gallon bucket of water. ... show more

This functions as described. It will heat up a bucket of water quickly, however, you will be waiting quite awhile if you plan on using it to heat a small inflatable pool. I'm sure if left for many hours, it would do a good job, but it is not meant to heat a small pool quickly. Temper your expectations about how much water it will hear up in a short amount of time and I think you will be pleased. This water heater works exactly as expected. You drop it in a five gallon container of water, and it will heat it right up in about 30 minutes. Do read the precautions! You will be adding electricity to water, so you do not want to put your hand into it as it is heating. The kit comes with a heat sensor attached to a thermometer for temperature detection. (The thermometer can work as a room thermometer, as well.) It can be used anywhere you have an electrical outlet. The other precaution is to not let the water drop below the top of the water heater. This constitutes a fire hazard. It is also best to heat water (when using this device) in a plastic container. Metal would conduct the electricity. A lid on the water container will help keep curious children and pets out of it. ... show more
