  • Next level
Capacity: 1TB
This was my first attempt at using this type of Drive and I have to say this thing blows all SATA drives out of the water!! Super quick response times and an epic 1tb all in a chip the size of a small ram card. No real moving parts means no breakdowns. I’ll need to purchase the next models for my next laptop if I ever even have the need for one. ... show more

  • Very nice, very fast
Easy to install, no problems with it so far. Very fast boot-up times, fast files transfers. I am currently running this with a Ryzen 5 3400G, in an ASUS B450M motherboard, with 2 sticks of Crucial Ballistix 3000MHz RAM. Running Kubuntu 20.04, with this as a boot drive. No issues with getting it installed, up and running. From what I can tell, it seems like a good value. ... show more

  • Competes with the best
Capacity: 1TB
This is for the PNY XLR8 CS3030 1TB M.2 Gen3x4 NVMe SSD. This is a great value NVMe drive that competes with the best from Samsung for significantly less money. The 1TB model has 1GB of DRAM cache, and I believe all capacities of this model have at least some DRAM cache, which is better than similar drives from some other manufacturers. In CrystalMark, I'm getting sequential reads and writes of around 3.2GBps. This is even on an NVMe adapter card on an unsupported motherboard with a custom bios to support it. Running on a native M.2 Gen3x4 slot on a newer board may yield better results. Also, for anyone using an aftermarket or motherboard-included heatsink, the sticker peels off cleanly. I really couldn't ask for much more at this price. Good size cache, good price to capacity ratio, good controller, great speeds. ... show more

  • Works in ROG STRIX Enclosure
Capacity: 1TB
I first received the hard drive today to use in an enclosure. I know PNY says they don't support use with an enclosure, but I decided to go ahead and give it a try anyway and worst case scenario I have another M.2 slot on my motherboard. Right now, it is THE fastest drive in the house using the USB-C connection, with only one exception. It doesn't accept connection to my 4 year old motorola android phone but I didn't expect it too (it just would have been a huge bonus to have NVME be usable with phone - but definitely not worth docking a point for in my use case). YMMV. Overall, it was very fast at a WINDOWS (I consider this important) write speed of 550MB/S. Now you may say that's USB 3.0 speed and that would be correct thought that's a theoretical maximum at USB 3.0. I am running this through a USB-C port in an external enclosure though (NOT in a motherboard M.2 slot). Basically I'm getting SATA speed through a USB-C port. Though not quite as advertised it is still a PHENOMENAL leap in performance. Earlier I was transferring RAW files from an old USB 3.0 hard drive. Transferring in real world cases with BIG files the hard drive CHUNKED along at 30 MB/S which is well below SATA speed spec. The fact that I'm getting (you sittting down, you ready?) 550 MB/S instead through USB-C is STILL a difference of almost 20x faster speed. The same chunk of files through a SATA External took 30 minutes. The same going through this enclosure took 75 seconds flat. BUY THIS DRIVE! I recommend pairing with the ASUS STRIX. I will re-update as time goes on but this is phenomenal for use with a laptop now. I am floored with such a lightweight external storage option. People just need to keep in mind that specs of an m.2 port will get that advertised 3500MBPs most likely! However running through cables and USBC will be a slight bottleneck. That bottleneck advertised speed is about SATA or 550MBPs. My test case was 50GB of RAW photo files from my camera. ... show more

  • Great performance, great price
Capacity: 1TB
I installed this as an upgrade to a SATA SSD and performance is exactly what you want from a Gen3 NVMe drive, especially at the price point. It's competitive performance-wise with low-to-midrange Gen4 drives. Installation is a snap. PNY is a reputable brand. Pros: Performance and value, ease of installation Cons: Ships with 512ke firmware instead of 4KN mode which will provide a small hit to performance unless the part is reflashed. PNY had a tiny "scandal" a while back for quietly reducing the specified write durability of this product series after announcement. ... show more

  • I am happy
Capacity: 2TB
I researched high and low to see if anyone was using these in a Gigabyte Z490 AORUS Master since they were not listed in the QVL list but came up empty, so threw caution to the wind and took a risk buying TWO 2GB sticks. Well I wanted to report back for anyone also researching this info that they DO work! As far as I can tell anyway. I have had zero issues. I have not run any benchmarks, because I do not care much since these are storage drives. I just want them to be stable and so far I have not experienced a single hiccup. They are very snappy 'feeling'. I simply popped them in and they were immediately recognized. They run VERY cool. My OS drive is a crucial M.2 and it runs in the upper 40's C. These both run at a consistent 29C. ... show more

  • Worth the price
Capacity: 1TB
Ive had it installed with an EKWB heatsink for a little over a week now, and have not had a single problem with it since it became my primary game drive. Went with this drive as opposed to Samsungs 970 evo mainly due to price difference. Read speeds are the same and this drive is only slightly slower in write speeds, to me that didnt matter as much. Will this drive be as reliable? I guess I will see. ... show more

  • Good NVMe SSD
I went with the 250GB model as a boot drive. I wasn't too worried with the write speeds on the 250GB version as I wouldn't be writing large files much. However, when I ran Crystal Disk Mark I hit 1,300+ MB write speed so that works just fine. Read speed was 3,300 MB which made my PC quite zippy upgrading from a WD Green SATA SSD. The value for the price is pretty attractive compared to other NVMe SSDs with much lower read speeds selling for only a few dollars less. Happy so far with my purchase. ... show more
