I was having an issue with my old flashdrive (a 128gb sandisk drive), where it would take FOREVER and then wind up corrupting the file anyway. Took me an hour to get everything off that drive because I had to drag to a desktop folder in batches to avoid corruption. this 512GB PNY stick starts writing at 550Mbps for about 20 seconds then slows to 150Mbps and maintains writing at that speed. not bad. not quite as good as the Corsair Flash Voyager GTX sticks i use everyday but for the price very worth it.

It functions well but the transfer speeds are a bit slow even for USB. I find it writing files around 7 to 12 MB/s which isn't bad if you're transferring normal office documents or some pictures here and there but I usually end up moving larger amounts of data all at once (VDI or VHD files from cloned drives used for virtual machines) which for me can be over 100GB, and man does that take some time. There are other ways to store data, which I'm aware of but I use these for a cheap backup. ... show more

By far the fastest 3.0 drive I've owned to date. My solid state OS drive is the only drive that can send files to the flash drive at it's maximum write speed. My mechanical drives all averaged about 140MB/s sending speed, and the flash drive was barely flexing. Many files were in excess of 9GB, but its temperature never concerned me. Feels like a solid (heavy) little drive. I own multiple PNY 2.0 drives, and have never had an issue with them. I went with PNY, because they haven't let me down yet. A Lexar 3.0 drive on the other hand, would write files that when transferred, were corrupted. It's the only drive I've ever seen do that. Capacity is exactly what I was expecting. A true genuine 1TB. Finally! A 3.0 drive that actually WRITES at 3.0 speeds!!! Only con I can think of, is the price dropped $15 shortly after purchase. Now (few hours after review), I'm noticing throttling and heat on another PC. Ambient temp is higher, but I'm leaning toward a port issue. ... show more
