Features

  • SIMPLE INSTALLATION: It takes less than 5 minutes to install the automatic chicken coop door (no complicated programming required). Just need to tighten a few screws on the coop door and secure it to the chicken's house. No wires, convenient, neat and easy to manage.
  • WORKS IN EXTREME WEATHER: Waterproof; Pliwier chicken automatic doors work in rain and dust from 35F to 140F (1C to 60C).
  • WITH TIMER: The Pliwier automatic chicken coop door supports timer and light sensor modes and is also compatible with manual mode. Save you a lot of time. Coop doors with light sensors can be opened at dawn and closed at dusk by detecting changes in sunlight, and you can use the timer mode to set specific times to open and close.
  • ANTI-PINCH SAFETY PROTECTION: When the sensor detects pressure, the house door will stop closing immediately, so as not to hurt the chickens that are entering. Additionally, doors prevent predators from entering the coop. Give poultry a safe resting environment.
  • WIDE RANGE OF USES: This chicken coop accessory can also be used as a house door for ducks/geese/hens and other poultry. You can eat a healthy breakfast and enjoy a life of freedom, knowing your poultry house is safe and running well. Great gift idea.

  • It Killed a Chicken
I was very hopeful for this product but I guess there is a reason that other automated doors cost so much more. First off, this door killed one of my young chickens. Being a first-time chicken owner (with two children under three) I was worried that I wouldn’t make it out in time to close their coop door at night. So when I hear that I could get an automated door I was relieved and felt like I had a back-up plan in place just in case I couldn’t get my kids down to bed before dark. Shortly after getting this door we released 14 hens into our coop/run area. Of course, the pullets didn’t understand where to go to roost so every night I went out just to make sure everyone got inside of the coop and I would place them on their roost. Even after two weeks of doing this, every night they would bunch up and try to roost in the doorway. This product claims that if it feels resistance, it will go back up. Well…I learned the hard way that this isn’t true. Just as I feared, one night I was not able to make it out at dusk. The pullets all crowded the doorway and blocked one from entering for the night. At around 9:30….an hour after sundown I finally made it out to the coop to make sure everyone was in and I found one lone hen outside of the door. I went to raise the door and that’s when I saw it. One of my hens had her head sticking out of the door with her neck pinned to the frame. I’m not sure what time the door went down exactly, but she must have been stuck there long enough. It was traumatic and it was pitch black outside so it was difficult to even see what I was doing to bury her. Since then, I have had to be there every night as the door closes. That’s when I started running into all kinds of other issues. Now the door just randomly shuts off so it doesn’t open and close properly when on the sun setting. One morning it didn’t open at all and my girls were stuck in the coop until I got home from work. I switched it to the timer and it does the same thing. It powers off and the time gets all messed up so it opens in the middle of the night thinking that it’s 6 in the morning or closes at 2pm thinking that it’s 9pm. I have changed the batteries four times in the last two months. Every time it opens and closes it stalls and clicks repeatedly for a minute or two like it’s trying to find its track. I have noticed that when it rains, water pours into the coop from the top of the doorway. I live in Florida so it rains a lot. All I can think is that I either got a faulty door or it isn’t weather proof and the rain has messed up the programming. Either way, it is extremely ineffective for having on my coop and I am now looking for a manual replacement because at least then I know no more chickens will die due to being trapped or crushed. I wanted to love this product….but it has just been an awful experience for me. ... show more

  • Perfect using the timer
First set of (rayovac) batteries lasted two months, the battery meter said 2 out of three bars. Then one day it was off. Not bad for 3 AA batteries. We tried it, but never used the light sensing mode because our chickens like to stay out late. I've had to clean the tracks once to get it closed all the way, but it's mounted down in the bedding. Sometimes there is an inch or two piled up against it, but it's always managed to open. ... show more

  • Works well in auto mode, manual mode not so great.
This door works well on the timer mode, it opens automatically at 6:30 AM and then closes at 8:30 PM. But if I close it manually it tries to close beyond the bottom bar and then will raise up about 6 inches. It takes several button pushes to get it to close fully in manual mode. I have not figured out how to make it stop trying to close too far in manual mode. ... show more

  • After a while chicken door doesn't open all the way...
The door worked fine for a while but does go through batteries frequently. We have it on a timer. After 3 months the door doesn't open all the way. Goes up 2 inches and stops. Replacing the batteries isn't helping. Now I have to buy a new door. I probably wouldn't buy from this seller again...very disappointed! ... show more

  • Low battery
I got this thinking it would help make my life easy. But it has been nothing but a pain. The batteries are sucked dry in days even tried lithium ones still no good. Then have it set with the time and will not open unless go out and do it by hand, same with the night have to go out and hand close it. So sad I spent so much and unable to do refund because I took to long to get it installed to find it does not work. Waste of money. I even wrote to product support and nothing back. ... show more

  • And changed my review.
Doesn't work under 35 degrees. No use to me then.

  • Don't have to worry about letting chickens out in the morning and locking them up at night.
Pros. Is automatic with photo sensor so that it opens at sunrise and closes at dark. Has a timer so you can sit a specific time to open and close. I've had it about a month and a half and the batteries are still fully charged. Cons. Could be an inch taller and an inch wider. That would make it easier for the chickens to find the opening. They sometimes have trouble finding the opening because it is small, however they are able to fit through it without a problem. But if you had other birds that were larger like the Jersey Giants or any large breed of bird, they would have a lot of trouble getting in and out. ... show more

  • DO NOT BUY!
Product failed within 30-45 days!! The control panel completely failed, shut down, resulting in door being open all night & a missing chicken!! Changed the brand new batteries and it still wouldn't go down. We had to force it down to protect the remaining chickens. Not worth your money!
