I would recommend this replacement part, having just installed it without issue, following recommendations found online to insert and tension the spring only after having bolted down the parts. The material seems to be of good quality; and it is not 3D printed like the one available eBay. (Although I can't say how well a 3D printed version would work; I didn't try it!).     • Broke after 10 months
This piece worked for 10 months and just broke on me while just sitting in the chair, not even moving the arm rest. The small tab piece that always breaks just fell to the floor. These pieces are under a lot of pressure due to the very strong spring that is handling the pivoting motion. In my opinion, it's a very bad design all together by Herman Miller. Take your bets on this piece but sooner or later, I'm pretty sure it will just break for most people. Waste of money in my opinion. I will just be leaving the arm rest as is and broken ... show more

    • cheap plastic can't handle arm.
Incredible failure. this fit in place of the existing plastic device my guess is it was made with a 3D printer and it cract within the first few weeks as apposed to the original which lasted for over 10 years. Amazing that 3D prnted products even have an audience. Dont trust this company.

    • Part easily broken even when installed by professionals.
This is the third one of these I’ve bought. They were installed correctly by a person who works with HM Aeron chairs, and last evening it broke again. I think I would like one sent to me free of charge because of all the problems I’ve had with this older design.

    • Item fits perfectly, armrest works properly
The item arrived in a few weeks, much sooner than estimated (it was shipped immediately after ordering, but long transit time). Replacing the old, broken index piece required removal of the arm rest and disassembling it. Not difficult. What was difficult was getting the detent spring (quite strong) properly back into place. I eventually did so using two Channel Lock pliers to hold the spring down in place, while maneuvering the “free” end of the spring over its catch. It took some perseverance and hand strength.
