This is a 4 star paddle only because it’s so inexpensive. If it were to cost any more it would not be rated this high. I felt bad giving it any less because it does not seem terrible. But don’t expect it to be anywhere near the same as a more expensive paddle. Nowhere near. Overall I would skip these and skip any cheap paddle and order a more expensive beginner/intermediate paddle right from the start. Do a bit of research to find some brand names. If you are determined to order this set there are multiple options to pick. Unless you really know what you want most people will want the 8oz version not the 8.8oz version. So, be sure to select the lighter one. That small amount will make a big difference. I ordered this when I thought I would just be trying pickelball and I did not realize the 8.8 would be so much harder on my arm endurance and elbow. I have not used many paddles but I used a friends approximately $60 paddle the other day and it made a world of difference. I could maneuver the paddle more easily and there was less strain on my elbow. I can’t speak to the 8oz paddle but the 8.8oz one is poorly weighted also, it’s very top heavy and that also leads to arm fatigue and elbow pain trying to hold it upright or make quick maneuvers. The price for that better paddle is well worth it and I will be researching a new paddle, wishing I had bought one from the start. This comes with 4 balls, my best guess is they are hybrid “Indoor/Outdoor” balls, usually indoor and outdoor have 20 and 40 holes, these are somewhere in between. If you go to a pickelball group people will not want to use these. The bag it came with seems nice, I have not used the towels that were included with mine. The grip is nothing spectacular, it’s what I would expect on an inexpensive paddle, the one on my friends paddle was better. However, I usually use an overgrip anyway. Also, there is no real texture on the face of the paddle, I am not able to get much spin on the ball. Again, I would skip this paddle and any other budget paddles and get something decent in the $50-60 range as a starter paddle. If you are just starting and not sure you will like pickelball borrow a friends paddle for a bit. (But you will like pickelball so, just treat yourself...) ... show more

This paddle set is great for beginners. So far I’ve played about 3 hours with the paddles and they are sturdy and work great. Paddles are light weight in comparison to the wood paddles and have a nice feel on the grip. The most expensive paddle I own is a 50 dollar paddle and these matched up to the build quality of those paddles, however the 50 dollar paddle is nicer aesthetically. The carry case is just a standard case, nothing special but it does the job for storing the 2 paddles and balls. I was actually able to fit 3 paddles and 4 balls in the carrying case so it does have a good amount of room. The balls in this set are pretty standard. They didn’t feel cheap and they worked perfectly with no issues on a outdoor court. This is a great first set and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend for a new player looking for a starter set. It far exceeds the quality of the wood paddle sets you can pickup at Walmart/Target. ... show more

The material and weight of the paddles is great, very light and the paddle grips are soft. I also like the colors. The kit is really nice and easy to carry.
