As the title says this was WAY darker than expected. I have pretty dark brown hair with auburn highlights (naturally) and just wanted a light brown to cover roots and not overpower my natural color. Well, it made my hair VERY dark brown with some golden-ish highlights (a tiny bit). I don't mind the darker color per se but hope it lightens up a bit (have had now 3 weeks, maybe a touch lighter now). BUT the coverage is very good, application easy, NO ODOR during/after and no sign of it fading yet (my grey forehead roots are usually showing by now as store-bought color usually fades by now). I'm VERY HAPPY with this brand as it was non-allergenic for me, I didn't wake up feeling sick the next day from the toxic chemicals (would wait a few months between coloring before as I hated to feel so stuffed up and loopy after). As long as I find a color I like better I'll stick with this brand and tell everyone I know to try it too! :) ... show more

If you are particular about your color, then be aware that "Light Blonde" is really "Light Brown." This is definitely a European dye, as they have translations in 10 different languages, but dropped the ball on the color translation in English. That being said, I didn't really care about the color too much, since I was covering virgin (never been dyed) 50% gray hair anyway and just wanted a change. The gray coverage is really good. It also had no ammonia smell. The smell is nuetral--not bad, not good. Plastic gloves were cheap. I used a pair of my own hospital latex gloves. ... show more

My gray hair is probably less than 5% of the total volume. The problem is that, in contrast with my super dark and thick Asian hair, the gray hair stands out like a sore thumb. I was using Madison Reed for a few times, always having problems with the fine little gray around my face and the few thick strains behind my ears no matter how thick I smudged the dye mixture around the problem area. To my surprise, PHYTO, although much thinner than Madison Reed, seems to catch up the grays very well. I am seeing far less Oops overall. I love the color, and it is easy on the hair and scalp. It was not irritating and did not have a harsh, chemical smell. However, this color is already fading after the first shampoo. For the cost, I feel like the color should last longer. It’s a shame because I do like the color it produces but already fading after one shampoo makes it not worth the trouble. ... show more

The gray coverage is amazing! It totally works for gray hair. The color is nice (it runs darker, so watch out when picking your shade) However, I bought this with the hope I wouldn't get burned this time and sadly I did. I wish I could find a product that doesn't burn my scalp

This hair color is amazing! Completely covers the gray & keeps covering the gray! I’ve waited 3 weeks before writing my review. I am not allergic to this as I am to all other hair color. Thank God I listened to other reviews, this hair color is WAY DARKER than color stated. I want a medium natural brown. Luckily I ordered Light Golden Brown, but it still is WAY TOO DARK, so my next one will be even lighter, I’ll figure it out, just so grateful for a hair color that doesn’t fade, covers gray & doesn’t make my head itch or burn!!
