The media could not be loaded. This is an awesome smart lock. I used to have a smart lock from another brand butnthis one definitely exceeded my expectations. Bot only it feels more premium, sturdy and also has more options than my previous one like the ability to control it over the internet. Its dedicated app is very user friendly and you can lock/unlock it with a code, key or thumbprint, it also works with Alexa and Apple Home. 10/10 would recommend!

The Philips home Access smart deadbolt 4200 series is an excellent front door lock. It is perfect for home security and is essential if you like to have your home be a smart home. It allows for fingerprint access as well as PIN code. I love how easy it is to set up straight out of the box. Scan the QR code for an easy installation video. All you have to do is make sure that you have the right dimensions in your door so the lock would be compatible. Once the hardware is installed and the batteries are inserted, the app guides you step by step as to how to set up a device and connect to Wi-Fi. I already has Wi-Fi built in which is super nice but mind you that you do have to have 2.4 GHz and it does not support 5ghz at this time. It does work with Alexa and Google assistance making it super easy to use even on those devices. It also comes with a set of two keys just in case you want to use the traditional key and lock method. You can also utilize the app to lock unlock, set up pin codes, and allow for guest access in the event you're not home. This will also warrant the temporary code option for delivery or if somebody's house sitting and you want the code to change later. I really loved that all the accessories and nuts and bolts came with it so I didn't have to get anything extra short of the batteries. I didn't realize it requires eight batteries AA, kind of a bummer, as that is a lot for a lock to open and close. I wish it was rechargeable batteries inside or something that could have been charged through USB easily. Not a deal breaker, but could have been better. The app interface itself is super easy and user friendly making it simple to set up but you do have to get the Philips home Access app through either Google or Apple store. If you opt to have notifications on, which is also nice feature, and notifies you when the lock is open and closed and cool opened it depending on your setup. I really appreciate that has it helped me knowing if my son is back from school or if somebody else opened the door.

Seems like a decent lock, but doesn’t include a drive-in collar option in the box, and Philips support are ridiculously slow at responding and sending the option, even though they assured me it was available. Seriously bad support.

I’ll be honest—I wasn’t expecting much. I’ve tried more than a few smart locks, and most of them fall somewhere between “frustrating” and “return label ready.” But Philips pulled off something impressive here. Installation was surprisingly smooth. The packaging walks that line between functional and no-frills, but everything was there—minus the eight AA batteries (and yes, eight is a lot). The included hardware actually feels substantial—metal faceplates, longer screws, even a back bracket that tightens down with real heft. It doesn’t feel like plastic pretending to be metal, which sadly can’t be said for most locks at this price. Setup through the app? Way easier than I expected. Scan the QR code, follow the prompts, and you’re in. No weird button dances or guesswork—just install, connect, and go. Fingerprint, passcode, app, even old-school key—you’ve got options. And the fingerprint scanner? Fast. Not “military-grade biometric vault” fast, but “I’m holding two grocery bags and need this door open yesterday” fast. I like that it has Wi-Fi built in—no extra hubs or accessories required—but fair warning: it only works with 2.4 GHz networks. Not a dealbreaker, but something to know. The app lets you set guest codes (recurring or one-time), auto-lock timers, and instant alerts. Want to know when your kid comes home or if the door’s been unlocked at 2AM? Done. The lock has a clean, modern look, and I appreciate the hidden keyhole trick—flip up the fingerprint ring to reveal it. It’s small, but it makes the design feel intentional, not like a bunch of features shoved into a rectangle. Now, battery life? TBD. Eight AA batteries is no small ask, and Wi-Fi locks tend to eat through them. Some people say lithiums work better, just know rechargeable batteries won’t trigger low-battery warnings reliably. My advice? Hide a key somewhere, just in case. Bottom line: I wasn’t planning to like this as much as I do. It feels secure, works exactly as promised, and hasn’t annoyed me once—which in the world of smart home gear basically makes it a unicorn. This may be the first Philips smart lock I’ve tried, but it won’t be the last.

I was excited when I found that Phillips made a lock that connects to wifi but this has a few areas for improvement. Installation is quick, however the guide on the front Part does not line up correctly with the mounting bracket and deadbolt, causing the screws to go in at an angle and not tighten enough. I had to remove the guide and use my own screws because they stripped so easily after a single attempt. The cable that connects the back and front has extra length which would be fine if there was enough room to store the excess in the back to store it. Instead it bends in a way that prevents the connector from being secure, causing the lock to lose connection to the internet often. Lastly, the back panel is held onto the mounting plate by small machine screws that don't actually screw into the back panel. It pretty much hangs there relying on hopes and dreams.
