Use the code, your phone, or Alexa to lock and unlock the door! You can be in the kitchen cooking with dirty hands and let company in just by telling Alexa! Purposely did not get the fingerprint model. Can set to auto lock the door in a minute or two, so you can run out to get the paper or mail, come back in and door locks itself. I bought the Philips Wi-Fi smart lock in March, and within a month it stopped working, which was frustrating. For some reason, I didn’t get a replacement and instead bought another push-pad lock. Later, I decided to try putting alkaline batteries in the Philips lock—and it started working again with all my codes still programmed! So, if it stops working, it’s most likely because you’re not using alkaline batteries. I feel like that should be stated more clearly in the directions. Other than that, it was very easy to install on my apartment door and simple to set up with codes.

I have been struggling to find a smart door lock that actually functions well and has quality components that last. A while back I ordered my first Phillips smart lock that is Wi-Fi enabled, and I loved it so much that I ordered one to put on the back door to the house. One thing to note here is that there is a big difference between the different Phillip Series of Locks. The Smart Wi-Fi enabled lock that I had ordered first is a 4000 series lock. It has all the remote features that can be used on the phone app. With a 4000 series you can see if your door is locked when away from home and unlock the door remotely to let that unexpected guest into your home. The backdoor lock is a 1000 series. It has zero smart lock features. Phillips really does not advertise what series of locks they are selling so it is up to us to read the ads very carefully to know what you are purchasing. I ordered this lock for the third door on my house, so all my doors are using the Phillips lock. This lock is a 4000 series, so it does work with the app. Here are my thoughts on this door lock: PROS: 1) The instructions are top notch. If you follow the instructions the door lock will work. It even comes with templates to assure holes are in the right location. 2) The details added to make installation right the first time is amazing. In picture one you see the put a red mark on the wire connection. So, when the wire is installed correctly the red line lines up. I had a different door lock once where I had to call support to find out that this connection was not all the way pushed in. So, this little added detail makes a big difference on having success the first time. 3) Programing is easy. The lock is programed through the app. Once started in the app, the application will guide you through connecting the device to your Wi-Fi and setting up the master code and user codes. It went very smooth with no issues getting the door lock running quickly. 4) The Application on your phone is intuitive and easy to use. You have a lot of functionality within the app that makes monitoring your door easy and allows you to unlock and lock remotely. 5) This lock does not have the location sensor which I think is a plus. This allows you to set the time before the door tries to relock. I like having a few minutes before relocking so that if you are hauling in groceries or you just have a quick trip to the garage you do not find yourself with your hands full and the door has locked on you again. 6) It does not need a bridge to connect to your WI-FI. CONS: 1) This unit is not as heavy duty as my last 4000 series door lock. It did not come with an extra thick kick plate or screws. It is still a solid lock, but just not quite as rugged as the other one's I have purchased. Now with that said it is easy to purchase the thicker kick plate and longer screws to make the door harder to kick in, but it is nice to have those included in the lock purchase. CONCLUSION: This is an excellent lock that is easy to install and has a robust app to control and monitor everything. Important to note that this particular lock does not have the fingerprint recognition. Now, I find that not to be a drawback, because of the app, but if you really want a fingerprint recognition lock Phillips makes other 4000 series that do. RATING SYSTEM: I review a lot of products because I know reading other peoples reviews are very helpful in selecting the right product. I saw a reviewer that gave a rating scale and I thought, "that is useful". When one is reviewing from underwear to air compressors having a way to tell you why I rate is important. Here is my rating scale: I 5 Stars: Excellent product, I highly recommend this product for anyone. 4 Stars: Good product, but there are some quality, functionality, or design issues, but will still work well. 3 Stars: Okay product, it will work for some people but not all people. It works but not great. 2 Stars: Is not very functional. It might work in a very specialized situation, but don't count on it. 1 Star: Trash. I can't see any useful purpose for the product
