  • Pretty easy to install and set up, but keypad illumination is glitchy
Color: Satin Nickel
As other reviews have noted, installation is very straightforward if your door is already drilled for an existing, mass market front door lock (e.g. Kwikset or Schlage), though I di dhave to file down the edge of the strike plate in order to enable to bolt to insert and retract smoothly. I also liked that you don't have to download yet another app in order to use it, apart from one specific function that few are likely to want to use (one-time codes). The fingerprint reader has also been 100% accurate so far, recognizing the fingerprints of all my family members on the first contact. My one major complaint is that you have to place an unrecognized fingerprint on the reader, and then touch the keypad area after the lock says "verification failed," in order to make the keypad light up to enter a code. This is not explained anywhere in the instruction manual, and took me half an hour to figure out. It makes locking the door on your way out more time-consuming than it needs to be. It is also likely to be confusing for guests or contractors to whom you issue a temporary code, unless they are warned in advance and given instructions. ... show more

  • Great Lock, Great Price, Easy Installation
Color: Satin Nickel
I was hesitant to buy this product first. Thereโ€™s no reviews or anything, but I took the chance considering the price as well as the features. This has no Wi-Fi connection, which was ideal for me has a keyhole, fingerprint, numeric passcode, and even an option to generate a one time code. Set up was insanely simple, and I am not a very handy person, all I used was a screwdriver. This is my first day using this lock so I canโ€™t say so much but I will continue to update if any problems arise. So far 5/5 stars ๐ŸŒŸ ... show more

  • Effortless use, can be difficult to install if your door isn't sitting flush
Color: Black
Pros: Thumbprint reader effortlessly works Supports auto locking Can generate one time codes remotely Not internet connected Thumbprint, keypad or key entry Cons: Can be difficult to install No internet connection For starters, once this was installed even my wife who doesn't enjoy technology really likes this. I love it. The door now is set to automatically lock after 3 minutes. And everyone in the family has their thumbprint in the device. So anyone can effortlessly open the door. When you scan your thumb, it tells you to move your thumb around a few times to capture different angles and spots. That way when you go to use it, it's matches every time. There's no internet capability. This is a plus and a minus. From a security standpoint, this is great. No hackers unlocking your door. But this also means you can't remotely unlock the door using this lock. But it also means that the batteries (4 included AA) will last a lot longer. Even without internet you can generate one time use codes that will work, while away from the house. There is a phone app that will allow you to scan the QR code on your lock (located under the batteries) and you give the app your master pin. Using those two pieces of information the app can generate one time use codes. Pretty brilliant piece of mathematics. There is a keypad, and a key option for unlocking the door. But so far my family just uses the thumbprint reader which works so well. The hardest part was installing. (Caveat: If your door doesn't require any strength to lock, your installation will likely be very easy). My door is sagging a bit, so I usually have to lift it to lock it. That means that this lock wasn't going to install out of the box. I needed to fix my door first, which involves sanding the door or replacing or repairing worn hinges. I also ran into problems where the lock wouldn't engage when the batteries went in. I would hear the motor spinning, but the lock wouldn't budged. It turned out there is a hook that pops UP and rotates when the lock engages. That hook was catching on the wood of my door. I got a screwdriver and dug away at some of the wood where the hook was catching. My suggestion, rotate the front thumbprint to expose the key hole. Then during each step of the installation process, ensure that you can smoothly rotate the key to engage the lock, before continuing onto the next step. If I had done that I would have not needed to disassemble and reassemble the lock 4 times when installing it. In the end, I did not end up fixing y sagging door. Instead, I simply removed the strike plate on the door frame and widened the hole in the door frame so that the lock can smoothly engage with the motor. You can see from one of my pictures the the unit isn't laying flat on the door. That's because I hadn't pushed it in all the way before sliding the plastic locking tabs down. The unit should lie FLAT on your door when properly installed. Just gently push a little harder and make sure the braided cord settles into the pocket rather than bunching up behind the unit. The instructions are great, but also lengthy. A couple of times I was stumped during installation, and I looked at the instructions and I had skipped some small note or step. Like my door hole seemed too small initially but that is because the instructions said to remove the metal hole widening piece if your door hole is smaller than usual. Despite the installation being tough due to problem with my door sagging, this unit is making our lives a lot safer and it's making getting access to the house so much easier. No more worry about lost keys. And no worries about whether we remembered to lock the door. Just shut the door behind you and the lock will take care of the rest. ... show more

  • Not condensation proof
Color: Satin Nickel
Worked for a day. It started to lock and unlock itself in a never ending loop, repeating an error message that kept saying "returned to factory settings". I had to pull the batteries to make it stop. I put the batteries back in and reprogrammed. 10 minutes later it did the same thing. I removed and unplugged the cable and found water droplets inside, lots of them. I let it dry out and put some dielectric grease on the plug connector but it didn't help, the damage was done. I researched this issue and apparently this is common. Cold A/C inside with warm door from outside makes the inside electronics sweat with condensation. ... show more
