I’m an avid Philips Hue collector and have recently branched into LIFX as well. That said, Hue remains #1 in its ability to seamlessly integrate into your home and with third party applications (HueDynamic Pro, OnSwitch). I’ve always used the interior light-strips but disliked the circular light points on it that have a tendency to piss me off. I’ve tried under cabinet lighting for my parents and grappled endlessly with the reflection of the light-strips on their hardwood floors. In fact, I still haven’t solved the issue even though they don’t seem to mind it. Now I realize I should have installed outdoor strips instead. It’s -thick-. Like a sleeve of Starburst. Mildly flexible as in you can make a letter U easily enough but it will not sharply conform to a V unless you use some of the extra mounting brackets. It is unable to be cut to fit, or otherwise shortened but honestly I’ve never trimmed one ever! It comes with an adequate power line and grounded connection that is wind proof and very heavy. I confess I haven’t installed mine outside. I used it above my kitchen cabinets and wish I had another one! Whereas the interior light strip has a distinctive pin-pointed bevy of LED lights along its length the exterior variation emits a unified glow. It’s going to lie down more or less in one fashion and won’t be super twistable or bendy. It will however be durable and waterproof should you want to put it outside or light around your bathroom. I dig that with some price checking you can pay almost 40-50% less than the MSRP. I don’t think it’s worth full ($160) price. It is double that of the interior version. I’ve paid anywhere from $78-90 for mine from Amazon (new) and that makes me happy. I’ll include a photo of this product as I’ve applied it. I hope it helps someone make the jump to try their exterior use version I know you’ll be happy with it. ... show more

    • Great premium light strip.
This is a great premium light strip. It’s nice knowing I could use it outdoors but I currently have mine indoors and I honestly like the construction of this more than it’s indoor version. Note that this is pretty thick though so you won’t be able to lightly mount it to places like the back of your TV, bit if you are using it up against a wall or something you should have no problem. I wish the maximum brightness was a little brighter and that its color accuracy, especially in the reds, would be a little sharper. Those are not picks in an otherwise great product. ... show more

At first I was frustrated because I couldn't get my hue smart light to work on the patio. Eventually,it connected and now it is working. I love it! Unlike the conventional lights (light up outter area only) these light up my complete patio. Very Nice! Select your hue of choice. Awesome!

Overall this is a great looking light. I love how bright it can get. There is so many different colors and themes you can you with this strip light. I only wish it was longer, especially for the price.

    • This thing is great
I bought this light to use inside because of the uniform light. Most LED strips on the market have blooming around the LED. I don't like that look. The power supply and wifi controller are embedded in very durable plastic and the lights are in silicone (reason for uniform lighting); I'm sure they'd be great for wet environment. This light fits in well with my hue system. I have it setup with 3 hue play lights and a hue switch. I never had an issue with the last 6 inches working like some other reviews have mentioned. As a side, I do some photography on the side and because this is so uniform I was able to use it to provide colored lighting around my subject for some neat photos. ... show more
