This worked really well for our setup. I mounted it on the outside of my chicken coop and used the wood I cut out from the coop wall to enclose the back side of the nesting boxes. I will say that the "paint" that came on the box was not top tier, but that did not matter to me since I was painting it to match my coop. I’m definitely not a carpenter, so the inside isn’t perfect, but even with that, it turned out great and has been working really well. The hens took to it easily, and it’s been a huge upgrade for egg collection. I've added a picture of the inside as well for those of you who also only have chickens because you convinced your husband that you're capable of building the entire chicken coop and run yourself. It's a little visual to try to help. I used 1x2s on the inside. It feels sturdy, was straightforward to put together, and made it easy to create an external access nesting area without having to build something from scratch. Super handy, portable nestbox. Stands alone or hangs on a wall. I got this after acquiring a pair of pullets ready to lay any day, but will be in my quarantine pen for awhile yet. Had always used a big dog crate for chickens to nest in if I quarantine or just separate the low on the totem pole awhile, but I'm too old to crawl into a dog crate after an egg WAY in the back corner. Wish I had one of these a long time ago. I'm pretty tickled with this little double nestbox. It's perfect for what I need it for. I will get another after I get a new henhouse with a separation pen for the broodies with eggs....or ahead of time if they go on a good sale. ... show more

Opening needs to be taller. Hens aren't crazy about having to duck so much to enter. My 2 Bantams thought it was great, none of my 20 other gens would go near it.

Product is as described and easy to assemble, even came with a screwdriver in case you didn't have one. The wood is a bit thin and it's very lightweight. Overall it's what I expected and since I didn't want to outright build a nest box, this will do. I'll be adding a door on the back as I plan to add it to an existing coop. ... show more

We have not used it yet but I love how sturdy it is after putting it together. We have built a new Chicken Coop and I painted it to match that with our left over paint. I like that you have the option ton hang it on a wall or not. I'm not going to as I have gimpy chicken, trying to make it easier for her in this new coop so it has room on the floor of the new coop live and I'll be able to move it around as needed. I got the 4 nest one and it doesn't seem too big. One thing we had to adjust was the slats, all 3 of them was that they were too wide by about 1/8" but my hubs has the tools and it was an easy quick fix. ... show more

    • Not big enough
While the product seems to be decent quality, I purchased this for our ducks and there is no way a normal size duck could fit in this. Even my large chickens would be struggling to fit to lay. This should not be advertised for medium to large hens at all. Sizing is small to medium at best.

    • Sturdy nesting box
Very sturdy nesting boxes. Easy to put together, and quickly. Chickens love it, and fight over by their squawking. I love the fact back and front are open to give chickens air. The meat roof helps to keep them dry.
