I have had a couple of different drinking fountains over the years for the little kitties. The fountains that work best are the ones with this type of filter. The motors seem to last longer (maybe because the filter captures stuff?). The water is fresh. With most of the fountains that use this type of filter, it is easy to install (open packet, rinse the new filter to get any loose charcoal off, and put in the fountain). I put in every so often when I do a big cleaning of the fountain. If slimy - you definitely need to put in a new one. :) ... show more
