I keep this plugged in for peace of mind so I cannot comment on battery but my cat and I love this foundation. It turns off when the water is too low. I don’t have to fill it to the top for it to function (important because I don’t need to waste water - I need to replace the filters before my single cat household drinks up a full tank of water - so I fill it only halfway). I did some heavy research on fountains before purchasing this one. We've had it for about 4 months now. All three of our cats use it multiple times a day and ignore the water bowls in the other rooms. The indicator light blinks red when it needs water, and the charger light blinks white when it needs charging. The first time you charge it, it takes about 6-8 hours, but subsequent charges take less time. The charge does indeed last a very long time. And the turn-on sensor is pretty accurate. I just wish it lasted more than 43 seconds (odd amount of time). I frequently have to wave my arm in front of it while my cats are mid-drink to keep it coming out of the spout (they all drink longer than 43 seconds!) If not, they drink from the bowl part instead of the spout. We only feed dry cat food in our house, so the cats drink a lot of water. This fountain works great and is reasonably priced. It's easy to clean, and the charging cord is super long so you can leave it on the floor while charging and the cats can still drink. Would recommend. ... show more

I’ve had this product for four months and it has given me nothing but problems! For context, I have two cats that love CLEAN water. The listing says each filter lasts two weeks but the basin and components starts growing slimy pink mold within 3-4 days. By day 5-7, the slime and muck buildup start blocking the water output so less and less flows through, leaving the water in the top dish cloudy and murky. All of this means the entire fountain and all its components need to be completely cleaned once a week at least. This was fine for the first couple months, until all those timelines started getting shorter and shorter, until now water won’t even flow through the machine on the 3 day. I first I thought it was the motor already going bad. I figured that’s fine, I had bought a backup motor. Nope! No idea what’s causing it. All in all, just avoid this product. It’s not worth the price AT ALL! Especially when you also have to pay separately to keep replacing all the individual components at a premium, as well. Just save yourself the hassle and try out something else that’s cheaper to start. ... show more

EASE OF CLEANING: A Game Changer This is by far the easiest pet fountain I’ve ever used. The difference-maker is the cordless pump. I no longer have to lie on the kitchen floor or contort myself to reach an awkward wall outlet behind shelves. I simply lift the bowl, carry it to the sink, and start cleaning. The entire process—from picking it up to scrubbing, rinsing all the pieces (including the pump), and reassembly—takes less than five minutes (I'm know this because you are supposed to soak the new filter for five minutes, and I’m always done before the timer on the soaking goes off.) With two cats, I used to clean it every two weeks; now, with two cats and two smallish dogs, I clean it weekly. SUPER QUIET: Nearly Silent I would actually call it silent. I never hear it running unless the water level is getting low, at which point a gentle motor sound reminds me to refill it. VERSATILE POWER OPTIONS: Battery or Wall Plug I personally plug this unit in to keep the water running full time. The great part is that if I wanted to place it somewhere away from an outlet, I have the option to run it on a rechargeable battery. INCREASED WATER INTAKE: A Hit with My Pets My elderly cat is fascinated with the flowing water, which has noticeably increased her water intake. She especially loves it if I pop an ice cube or two into the tray! AESTHETIC APPEAL: Not "Butt-Ugly" The design is clean, modern, and fits well in my kitchen decor. ________________________________________ Suggestion for the Manufacturer A Minor Improvement for the Next Version: My one suggestion for PETLIBRO is to add a clear viewing window or level indicator bar to the front of the unit to make it easier to see the water level at a glance. I am a full-time cat sitter and have two cats of my own. Believe me when I say that this is by far the easiest water fountain to clean thoroughly. The fountain's docking station has a cord but the fountain/pump itself does not. All you have to do is lift the fountain off of the docking station and take it to the sink. You don't have to worry about getting a cord wet. Unlike other water fountain pumps, this pump is super easy to take apart and clean. The fountain also has very few nooks and cranies to clean. If you've ever cleaned one of those flower-shaped fountains, you will understand how much nicer it is to clean a smooth surface than a bunch of corners. I like that it has a backup battery in case the power goes out. If the power is out and the batteries are dead, the fountain is designed to keep some water on the top stainless steel dish. Therefore, your cat will still have access to water. The fountain itself holds a lot of water. It takes my two adult cats a week to get from the max line to the min line. (Note, my cats don't have diabetes or kidney disease.) Because the water reservoir is enclosed and the part where they have access to the water is high off of the ground, very little dust and hair get in the fountain. The fountain is also very quiet. It is one of the quietest fountains I've come across. You can't hear the pump. If you use the spout, you can barely hear the water trickle. I haven't had any issues with water bubbling over the side or spilling. Most importantly, my cats love it. One of my cats loves to drink the water coming out of the spout. This would easiily be a five-star product except the filter tray is very difficult to secure back onto the stainless steel water tray. When removing it to clean stray cat hair, the gasket and rubber seal don't always sit properly when reassembling. I even cut my finger once on the sharp edge around the filter opening while trying to put it back together. That said, the fountain itself works wonderfully. I have two senior mini black panthers, and while one always drank water normally, the other mostly relied on wet food for hydration. Now she drinks from this fountain multiple times a day - sometimes even more than her brother, which is impressive. The vet recommended they to drink more water to help prevent chronic kidney disease and this is definitely helping! ... show more

Bought because of the research I had done. Loved that it was quiet, rechargeable or wall socket and was supposedly a great filtering, great flow etc. Within a few hours there was cat fur jsut sitting on top of the water, there were "bits" of what ever just sitting in the tray. The water flow was useless and there was no filtering going on as the fur was stationary on top of the water. Returned for something half the price, stainless steel and had two flow options. The last fountain I had was corded and kind of a pain to take apart and clean. As a result, it did not get cleaned as often as it should. This fountain is sooo much better in that department. No wires means no crawling under furniture to unplug it. And it is super simple to take apart and clean. Because the pump is also cordless there is no need to run a cable through any awkward holes. The tray on top is stainless steel, so also very easy to clean. There aren't any awkward nooks and crannies to have to get into for the most part. Filter is also very simple to replace. Just pop open the case and drop a new one in. Battery lasts a long time and the tank holds more than enough water for a couple of weeks for one cat so I just refill it when I clean and do the filter. The lights that indicate low battery and low water level are in not the best spot. If the fountain is on the floor, as I am assuming most pet fountains are going to be, the angle from which you are viewing from above means the tank kind of hangs over the base and blocks your view from the indicator lights. The couple of times I have had a low battery or low water situation, I was able to hear it before I noticed the lights. Which brings me to my next point This fountain is all but silent. Sometimes you hear the water dripping from the tray on top back into the tank but you don't hear the pump and, unless you have the spout attached, you don't hear the water running. Unless the water or battery is low. Then it makes a tiny bit of noise when running, which is fine by me, because it alerts me to the fact that I need to take action. ... show more
