This door works. I am used to a plastic flap rather than a hard plastic door so when the cats or dogs zoom through the door is is pretty loud. The instructions are easy to read and understand. The install takes a little work, but isn’t too hard. The locking feature of the door is really nice, you can choose to let them in AND out, or just in/out. The issue I have found with my dogs and this door is that when my larger dogs scratch the door to go out, their paw tends to turn the dial locking the door closed one way or the other preventing my smaller pets from going in/out. ... show more

    • cat's tail was caught in it

my cat has a medium length tail and the door shuts too quickly... 5 hours after installing the cat door, he passed through the door and the door smashed his tail. i heard the loudest blood curdling screech out of him and ran to find him in pain and he had to break the plastic door off to escape. this was traumatic to say the least. i love the products features with the ability to lock one side, both sides, or neither, but the fact this harmed my cat the first day of using it is extremely concerning. I'm so glad i was home when this happened. we will be keeping the product, but without the plastic door. luckily no dogs can fit through the cat door so it will just remain as a hole in the door. really upset about this. ... show more

    • The opening is much bigger than my old one, but the door lock and window aren't stronger

I ordered this to replace a Staywell by Petsafe door that my cats cracked the window on. The dimensions aren't that much bigger, but the hole for installing would have to be bigger than what I have there now. After inspecting the door latch, I've decided not to replace the whole door but to just order a new window for the old one. This latch will give me the same problem as the old one did but I'd be replacing this one much sooner. The window is a little too thin IMO and I can see it cracking easily. The Staywell window is slightly thicker and smaller making it stronger and it lasted a good 12 years or so. I'd rather just replace the window than cut a bigger hole to install a whole new door and run the risk of the same thing happening to this one. If you're buying a brand new door for a brand new install for a larger cat or a smaller dog, this will probably be fine as long as your animals don't mess with the lock latch. ... show more

    • Working great for my 12lb Cat

The media could not be loaded. This cat door was super easy to install; and actually looks nice and flat against the door. As seen in the video, it has 4 different settings for her to come in and out; but also allows me lock it when i let my ferrets out. It did take her close to 2 weeks to use it without yeowing on the other side; but with some patience and practice, she now uses it with no problems. I will say the magnetic lock at first made it difficult for her to push open with her head; I had to make some adjustments to help her (hint: duct tape between the magnets) All in all though, I would definitely recommend and I’m so happy to finally have an indoor Cat door. ... show more

    • Cats Took Several Days to Adjust

If it were for me, I'd give it 5 stars - I love the look, & super easy install (if you have the proper tools, like a handsaw, so if you don't or you're not comfortable using them just have someone install it for you - it'll be worth it in weatherproofing alone to have it done right) but it's a door for the cats, and they weren't so happy with it at first. I think it's because the door itself looks like a window (clear) and they "know" windows don't just open when you push on them - screens, yes but windows not so much - so it took some time and patience and treats but now they got the hang of it & I couldn't be happier 😊 we live in MI so the winters get pretty cold and the old cat "door" (flap of rubber is more exact) was always leaking in freezing air, this new actual door is designed so it closes & stays shut with magnets (yay) Overall, very satisfied - Definitely Recommend ... show more

This isn't airtight so the cold air still gets in. Not as much as it was before though. I put this in my window that goes out to the catio. A couple times the cats moved the dial on it and locked themselves or another cat out. The dial moves too easy. Also, my cat has gotten his paw stuck twice. They are hesitant when going in or out, and usually push it open with their paws, then if they decide not to go and pull their paw back it gets stuck ... show more
