I want to preface this review with the fact that I knew ahead of time that it would not fit my low-profile HF floor jack and that it would need to be modified in order to work with that setup. I was able to cut the arbor off and bore the correct sized hole in its place using my Bridgeport mill so that it would fit over the flange bolt that holds attachments to the HF jacks. This could also be done if you had the correct size drill bit, even in a hand drill. In this case I just used what I already had so as to avoid spending money on a large diameter bit I would likely only use once. I think Performance Tool is leaving a lot of sales on the table by not offering this same attachment with the correct sized hole for mounting to the HF jacks. Maybe they should offer this in the future since HF discontinued their own version. Now for the review itself. I found the transmission platform to be a good design that makes it far superior to other methods that I've used. These in the past have included using one or two floor jacks, a scissor-type transmission jack, and simply pulling the smaller transmissions out by hand. This method is far superior to all of those. Without even using the safety chain, the front drive transmission in my car was very stable and at no point did it wobble or try to fall off like all of the other non-transmission jacks I've used (also better than the scissor jack, which would try to tip over with heavier transmissions strapped to it). Another great feature of this that I used is the tilt adjustment to get the transmission and engine mating surfaces to line up perfectly. While the screw was difficult to turn with all that weight on it, it was way easier than muscling the transmission around using nothing but my own hands. Once I got everything lined up with this, it was fairly easy to get several bolts started and then proceed to slide it over the alignment dowels. The only feature I would add if I could is a screw that allows for side-to-side tilt adjustments, but it wasn't a big deal without it honestly. To sum this all up, this first transmission job using the attachment, which I performed alone, was the smoothest one I've ever done. Even with plenty of helping hands and extra sets of eyeballs around, you simply can't duplicate the features you get when you use this style of jack attachment (or an expensive transmission jack). Once you get everything where you want it, it stays there until you're ready to move it again. Attached to a heavy floor jack it's not tippy and it just works. Hopefully I'll never do a transmission without this tool again. It's a must have.

Wow... Like they say, there is a tool for every job. This is the one for trannies. Bought it to pull and work on my sons jeep transmission. It did the job quite well. Then as things seem to happen around here, my nephews GMC truck transmission went bad. I happened to have the tool for that job as well. One thing I might mention... The adaptor seemed to be quite tall, one just might have some problems with using this for a car/shorter vehicals. First thought comes to mind would be to raise the vehical before pulling things apart, just a thought. Overall, the adapter worked exceptionaly well. It got the job done and for the price, and "SUPER FAST SHIPPING" what more could a guy ask for?

Do not buy. Be warned. I went back and forth and took the risk. big mistake/waste of time. this jack adapter is listed as 1000pound or 1/2 ton. The box/guide clearly say do not exceed 300 pounds. This thing will not fit your jack. We tried this on like 12 of my buddy's jacks, all different, no where close. the adapter diameter size listed for the hole is laughably incorrect. The build quality is sketchy. This thing has awful/scary welds. This thing will snap on you under load. the kit is missing pieces to boot which seems to be a common complaint. There are no real instructions, Just the basic picture of the adapter complete with a parts list. Do not buy. at best this wastes your time or could kill you at worst.

I have changed a transmission and transfer case out with this Transmission platform. I wanted a cheap option for my existing jack and this looked good. Price - great. Functionality leaves a bit to be desired. The tilt adjustments don't really work at all and I had to custom fit it to my jack, as it wasn't the exact size of the mounting bolt. That said, I was glad I had this to do my transfer and transmission removal and install. If you are looking for a cheap option, this is a good one - if you can spend more money, you might consider a full jack and platform type of product. Bottom line, worked to get my jobs done and I was glad to have the lifting and platform support to complete my jobs. For a cheap option, I would buy this again.

Gave this item a 4 simply because it is an inexpensive transmission adapter for a floor jack. However saying that, it is well made, solidly welded and confident it will handle most jobs when properly used. Assembly instructions are slim, but if you can tackle a transmission removal/install you should be able assemble this product without any issues. The hole Size for the pin is 1 5/16” which is a common standard size. Floor jacks are designed to work on hard smooth surfaces, not dirt or gravel. As always, exercise proper safety measures and do not use this product if the weight limit is exceeded.

I ordered this transmission jack adapter even though I read some conflicting reviews. I thought I'd share mine. Upon assembling the adapter, I came to find most was already assembled minus a few pieces. The quality was what I expected from seeing the pictures. I will admit some hardware was missing, but it was only 3 washers. Washers which I had laying around the house. People on here complained about the hardware, but it looked plenty fine for me. I used this to remove a transmission from a 1995 Ford F-150 (Automatic)... and I gotta say, IT WORKED WONDERS! SAVED ME LOTS OF TIME AND HEADACHE. Now, I wasn't removing the transmission and replacing it with another. I was replacing a rear main seal. So the height of the adapter didn't really affect me too much. If I were removing the transmission, I would have to lift the truck up a few more inches. All in all the adapter worked very well and despite the lack of 3 washers, I'll still recommend it to someone and give it a 5 star rating! Best $60 ever spent!!!

I ended up buying a $300.00 2000lb transmission jack from HF. This might have worked ok but the car would have to be 3’ in the air which wasn’t what I’m doing. Also liked the adjustments forward and back and left and right which are pretty much identical in quality to a more expensive transmission jack. It came out ok but I didn’t want to use it to put it back in. You are limited to the mobility of a floor jacks back and forth motion, no sideways movement like a trany jack. If your limited on funds and very agile and young this will work great for you.

Honestly, I purchased this thing to pull a small 4cyl trans and was highly disappointed. The threads on mine were weak and rolled easily. That was my first impression. I spent a good hour with a triangle file fixing threads before assembly. I purchased this to pull small 5 speed from a fwd car. The hardware that bolts everything together is VERY cheap and I do not trust it. Mine was stamped 4.8. If that's the grade then I wouldn't trust this on the training wheels of a small child's bicycle. Also, the overall height of the adapter when on even the lowest profile jack proved to cause issues. It was difficult to remove the trans from under the car. Mind you my vehicle was on extended truck jackstands. Again, this is a small European 1.8l trans. And I could not agree more with this thing being wobbly. Its down right unsafe. Even with a load on the threads, the adapter seemed to want to rock toward anyway the weight slightly shifted. In the end, I ended up wrestling and bench pressing out the trans which seemed to be a much quicker thing to do. If you are pulling a conventional trans this might work, but I warn you please be careful if you purchase this. A thick steel plate and some ratchet straps might just be a safer and better option.
