  • Modification to make it perfect
Let me start by saying for what this is, as others have said, the Mobile Tripod is overpriced. That said, the premium quality and thoughtfulness of the design immediately come through when you unbox the product and we have to keep in mind they are first to market. The R&D along with the premium materials is costly. As for the product itself: The tripod works as described, holding my iPhone 12 Pro Max (which is fitted with an Apple leather case) with ease. Whether choosing portrait or landscape format- there are a variety of angles you can use the tripod with. I adjusted the tension, slightly, using the included tool when the tripod arrived. Overall it’s best features are the size and cleverness of the form factor paired with MagSafe technology. As for why I purchased the tripod; I often use the Moment MagSafe tripod mount during outings with my daughter. Paired with a selfie stick with tripod and my watch; I’m able to take picture of us wherever and whenever. At times though the setup is clunky and even unnecessary. So I started looking on Amazon and was going to get a smaller tripod- enter the Top Peak. I no longer have to worry about carrying around a full tripod and will be able to leverage a table or ledge, as needed, to position the camera higher. I’ll also always have a tripod in my pocket and an added bonus is it is great for using as a stand for me phone. This did get me thinking, what about the times I do need a tripod? I won’t want to carry both setups. Wouldn’t it be great if the Peak Design could also accept a standard 1/4” screw found on most tripods. Looking at the Top Peak, I found that The main support leg, is the exact thickness as a 1/4” #8 nut. Mounting the but to the surface was an option but then the tripod wouldn’t be as sleek and would eliminate some functionality. I realized I could drill a hole in the leg, while sacrificing the key to tighten the mount. I don’t see myself having to do that repeatedly now that I set it. And the benefit of being able to downsize my overall EDC and pair the Insta 360 self stick with built in tripod with the Top Peak seemed like a great alternative. So I drilled a hole in the center of the leg to accommodate the 1/4” nut. It fits perfectly, almost as designed that way (hint hint for v 2.0) There are other ways that this could be accomplished. For instance, I don’t have the tools, and although I know it can be done, I’ve never tapped metal before to thread it. This would eliminate the need for a nut and the removal of as much material from the support leg as I did. At the same time it runs the risk of there not being enough material as there is a cavity where the key was stored. Anyway, I bonded everything together with JB Weld steel and then refinished to match the aesthetic my EDC. So overall, nice overly priced accessory, but with a little time, tools and epoxy…. A great overpriced accessory. ... show more

  • well worth the money if you want to store a tripod in your pocket
I had to do a review on this as I saw many reviewers were dissatisfied with the price point of this item. While the price is high, the quality is excellent and the item can last for years and should be compatible with future Iphones. This is the most compact tripod I could find. I did find some Iphone cases that had the tripod screw but it only went up to a 12 or so. If you have the room for it you can purchase a mini tripod with a phone adapter for like 10 on this site or others and it works just as well, but you need to have extra room. For me having a phone in my pocket with a tripod is worth the money so I can be in the pictures with the family. ... show more

  • Amazing little expensive tripod
This little tripod works great with my iPhone. 10/10 if you do not mind dropping $80 on a mini tripod. Per the quality it is worth it and will last a lifetime

  • Super helpful but pricey
The product is really nice, packs down small and is sturdy. Only down side is the price however, it does have a lifetime warranty

  • Pricey, and I love it.
It feels like it will work until I lose it, it won't wear out. The tension of the ball swivel can be adjusted with included in key, although I haven't had to try it. It fits easily in my pocket. The magnet is plenty strong enough for use with a magsafe like magnetic ring attachment added to any phone case. Buy it now so you can use it now if you're in the market. I've found nothing else that fits the niche this does. ... show more

  • Expensive but worth the price.
I got this as a gift for someone who has to make phone calls while handling documents at the same time. It works perfectly. Peak Design makes very high quality products for photographers and although this phone tripod is expensive, it is well worth the price.

  • Great accessory for everyday use
The Peak Design mobile tripod is my surprise must have accessory for the iPhone 13 pro max. I use it all the time to just hold my phone on my desk as part of my command center, set it up on the end table for easy glances at notifications while watching tv, or as an extended grip for my device (tripod open wrapping fingers around the extended legs, pointers extended to support the phone) making it more comfortable for me to type. It holds the phone in both portrait or landscape mode well. I did need to use the built in tool to tighten the ball head to support the weight of my larger phone. Once adjusted it was able to hold the device at any angle that is balanced on the three legs. The only downside is the $80 price tag. Wish it wasn’t as expensive, but is still a great device. I am using it with the PD everyday case, to which it attaches very well. Have not used it with other devices, cases, or without the case. ... show more

  • Disappointed in 1 thing
I’m a huge fan of Peak Design. I’ve trusted their bags and straps with tens of thousands of dollars worth of my job’s camera gear that I don’t personally own. Never once have I been let down by any PD product. This tripod holds true to what I’ve come to expect from Peak Design, 100%. It’s extremely convenient, but when you’re not using the tripod it’s easy to forget that it’s there. The legs are sturdy and the magnets are strong. My only complaint is that my package came without a PD sticker to add to ever growing mural of PD graphics I have plastered onto my camera box. If the tripod weren’t so excellent I would have been shattered by this betrayal. ... show more
