Overview The Micro Converter BiDirectional SDI/HDMI from Blackmagic Design simultaneously converts SDI to HDMI and vice versa, supporting 3G/HD/SD-SDI video signals up to 1080p60. Works well. Does what it says it does. One more tool in the box of goodies when we have to interface broadcast into the consumer and AV world. You are going to need a 2.0 amp or greater power supply and a mini-USB power cord for this thing. No real biggie as you can get a cord and a wall wart at any 7-Eleven. But it would have been nice to know, especially if I was having it shipped to a client or a remote job site. ... show more

I have about 14 of these and they are perfect! They work great and help with the guessing game of "is this HDMI in or SDI in," since it's bi-directional. Great product!

    • Blackmagic delivers another top notch product...again!
I am slowly but surely becoming a Blackmagic fanboy with every product of theirs I use. I'm using this converter with my BMPCC4K camera to deliver A/V signal to a Shinobi external monitor and Zacuto EVF simultaneously. I needed something small that I could mount onto a 15mm rail block that would convert the 1080p 60fps HDMI signal from the BMPCC4K to SDI for the EVF. This converter delivers in spades! No glitching, no settings, just plug in the A/V cables, micro USB power, and it works. That simple. As an added bonus, it has an HDMI out that I use to send signal to my Shinobi monitor.     • Allowed a creative solution
I needed to use camera without SDI (consumer webcam) for a solution that needed SDI. It was easy to setup and has worked as expected. It is well built and simple to use. I recommend it to anyone who needs the adapter connection.

    • Great but once in a while a faulty one
We have two units, one doesn't power up at all. The other has a bad HDMI input. We also have maybe 8 more of them that work perfectly. Usually it's the power supplies that go with these but to have two non usable units occur within the year after purchase is not good. Giving 4 stars still because of concept, price, and option to purchase without the wall wart. I am going to purchase another one after writing this review but just wanted to let everyone know you might return a unit but go for the replacement because when the units work they are rock solid. ... show more

    • Works but has known issue that is not resolved.
I love BlackMagic products, I have the ATEM switchers, multiple distribution devices... Also have 6 of these bi-directional splitters. My biggest complaint is (and I didn’t know it at the time) there is apparently a known issue with HDMI->SDI conversion in 1080p. The right audio channel is distorted to the point where it’s unusable. For me these devices are still in use as receivers SDI->HDMI, they work great and the audio issue doesn’t appear, however if you’re hoping to transmit HDMI to SDI with full audio on 1080p get a different converter (Decimator for example). ... show more
