  • Seems like an affordable, capable mount! Seems like an affordable, capable mount!
I haven't used the app-control yet, but, controlling via ASCOM was pretty simple! With guiding from PHD2, and a bit of tweaking to my settings, I've managed 6 minute exposures with minimal star trails. The mount itself seems very well built, and assembly was easy! - The tripod could be a bit more sturdy, but, for the price its perfectly acceptable! ... show more

  • Good, but complex
Difficult to use at first - very German, I would say. The software is kinda trash in terms of UI, but it does work. Once I figured it out (after about two nights), it worked quite well. It's definitely a smaller unit, but it is very stable when holding a smaller telescope. It was also fairly easy to assemble (keep in mind that it requires EIGHT C batteries). I would definitely recommend it, however, especially at its price point. ... show more

  • GREAT MOUNT SO FAR...
I have not had a change to use this mount a whole lot so i will update more in the future. As of right now the mount seems to be rock solid. It holds my Orion Eon ED80 , 50mm guide scope and dslr just fine. The counter weights were just a few ounces too light to balance it so i added some sticky car tire weights to them. The Explore stars app is only available through the Microsoft app store. Which was tricky to get it to work but after some great help from Explore Scientific i was on my way. This is my first telescope and mount so i dont have a ton of experience. After initial alignment and setup it was smooth. I have not done any photography yet with this mount due to bad weather. I should be able to get some done this weekend and will post an update. Over all for the price and quality and support i dont think you could find a better comparable mount for the price. Update: I orderd this item on July 26, 2019. It is now May 2 2020. The Mount its self is well built for what it is. The major problem i have is to make it functional you have to spend a ton of money. I had to purchase a polar scope for it. Which has next to no instructions. No real way to have it in the same spot each time you take it out. Which was not available at the time of purchase. At the price of approx $90 shipped. You have next to no azimuth adjustment. However they will sell you an adapter for $100. They also offer an upgraded tripod for the mount. At a cost of $250. Which requires the special azimuth adapter in order to use it. If you buy this mount and all the other items needed to make it stable and functional you would still not be able to do much. Because the software is complete trash. Tried on several android devices. Half the features dont work. Crashes all the time. Same with windows laptop. The software also makes fine tune adjustments impossible because you cannot look through a scope and look at a monitor at the same time to see where you are doing. So by the time you are done spending 800.00 on this setup you could just buy a mount that will hold more weight and be more functional. The only redeeming quality is its light weight and customer support is fast to reply. I have not been able to get this mount to properly function with any software i used. (PHD2, APT, Explorestars ) I did the latest firmware update. I purchased a new mead lx mount . I was up and imaging with in 10 minutes of setting it up outside. ... show more

  • Wi-Fi will not connect.
I am very disappointed with this purchase. The Wi-Fi will not connect and explore scientific customer service did not return my call. I even upgraded to a Samsung tablet and the 'ask Rufus' on Amazon said it would work with this mount. The setup instructions are very simple. Install app, turn mount on, connect to Wi-Fi. Then I get error messages saying the mount is not turned on and to turn it off and try again. It's an endless loop and there's no where to go! Save yourself a headache and buy a different mount. ... show more

  • Excellent mount, even at the original price.
I've been looking for a small goto mount and the iEXOS-100-2 fits the bill nicely. It was easy to put together, well made and my SVBONY MK127 goes well with the mount. The weight of the whole system is good; it's not difficult to move around and in the limited testing I've done so far, it's pretty stable. The mount comes with a battery pack, but I'm using a Celestron Lithium PowerTank instead. I found the PMC controller to be fine. Explore Scientific has open sourced their controller software and there are options to control the mount remotely. While it would be nice to be able to control this mount from an app like SkySafari, the Android app is fast and adequate. I'm not an Android person, so it took me a while to figure out how to unzip and install the control app, but once I did, the cheap Android tablet I was using had no problems controlling the mount. The app will run on an Amazon Fire tablet as well. Aligning the mount with Polaris wasn't that difficult. ... show more

  • Super great for the price Super great for the price
I bought this thinking it was exactly what I needed for a larger telescope but unfortunately the payload was too little. But for the price of this mount, I can’t count that against the rating. I put on my canon EOS R8 with a 300mm lens, and got 81x 30second exposures before the clouds rolled in. I saw Polaris through the sight hole but the apps 2(or 3) star alignment really calibrates the alignment. Even without having to polar align the mount. It slowly moves both the dec and RA for pin point accurate tracking. There wasn’t any sway or deviation between the first and last photo. The first photo was stacked while the 2nd photo is post processed. I highly recommend this for a starter budget mount so long as you have access to the app via laptop or iPad. ... show more

  • Great mount but with critical flaws
The build quality of the mount is very good. Over all it performs great. There are some critical flaws for me with this mount. 1. There is no polar scope. 2. The azimuth fine tuning knobs do not exist? Where did they go? The polar alignment is just through the hole on the axis of the mount. There is no proper polar scope to start with. This mount is not a cheap omegon mechanical tracker which comes with a plastic tube for a polar scope. Its almost the same except the hole is in the axis of the mount?? Atleast for accurate polar alignment you can use something like Sharpcap or some similar tool. But once we talk about accurate polar alignment, the 2nd problem listed above where the azimuth adjustment knobs are missing comes into play and screws the accuracy of the alignment process. To align on azimuth axis, you need to loosen the mounts base screw and swivel the mount as needed for accurate alignment which is in itself a huge problem. Then you have to tighten the screw back which will put the mount off from the fine tuning you did moments before??? That's not good at all. Seems they are planning to provide accessories for polar alignment and azimuth alignment (??? - this should have been there to start with? Who designed this? Was it some designer for the first time or what?) Other than that things look to work great. I have only been trying this for the past couple of days. More use in the coming days should give a better idea of how well this mount performs. Update: 08/30 Was able to use the mount and got it working as it should. It was great slewing to various objects once polar aligned. It works quite very well pointing to the target. As I mentioned, the alignment knobs which should have been there for azimuth, is a must during accurate polar alignment. There is no way you can get to use the mount to azimuth align by rotating it by hand and then tightening the base which puts you further off your accurate polar alignment. I used a guide scope for accurate polar alignment. As you know this mount just has a hole along the the mount for polar alignment, which is unacceptable to start with. Then the fine tune knobs missing for azimuth alignment which is pivital for accurate polar alignment whether with a scope or with a camera. I don't understand how an engineer who designed this tested the mount at all for any useful polar alignment. First testing for performance should have immediately flagged the issue with polar alignment and fine tuning. Seems explore scientific trying to save a dollar screwed big time with the azimuth alignment knobs. UNACCEPTABLE. Next time I buy any item from Explore Scientific, I will have to make sure these kinds of UNACCEPTABLE flaws are not lingering which at the end of the day ends up costing more to fix it with other means or just deal with the flaw and end up having a sub standard product all together. If some one from explore scientific is reading this, take some time to think before building and delivering a product and not build a product with such UNACCEPTABLE flaws to start with. Update 2020/08/19 I started using the mount recently after buying the alt-az adapter from explore scientific. It helps a lot to get good polar alignment finally. Am using this mount again after almost 10 months sitting collecting dust because of inefficient polar alignment tools which should have been there to start with from the start. Had to spend another $100 dollars for something which should have been there as part of the manufacturing process and be there by default???? One more problem which I have with explore scientific is. Critical reviews written on their website never gets posted. Rather only positive reviews??? I had submitted 2 review over the year and that never turned up on their reviews listing. That is not a good thing for a seller where they bias what is listed to only positive reviews instead of posting critical reviews telling the truth and problems and issues rather. The reason anyone is checking out a review listing is to find any issues etc rather than just positive reviews. I WILL KEEP AWAY FROM EXPLORE SCIENTIFIC PRODUCTS UNLESS YOU ARE SURE ITS WHAT YOU NEED AND YOU MOST PROBABLY SEE IT IN PERSON AND ALSO CHECK IT FOR REAL BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM. ... show more

  • Disappointed
The price is very attractive. I was very attracted to the Bluetooth capability. However, the mount does not actually have Bluetooth. can be installed by following some technical steps that a buyer may not be comfortable with. I decided against performing this firmware update because I believe the mount should have come with this ability right out of the box. Otherwise, as a lightweight equatorial mount, it seemed capable with very lightweight equipment. I would wish for sturdier legs. The tripod seemed a bit flimsy to me. ... show more
