  • Excellent Thermal Imager
Color: Black
This is a great upgrade from my previous TIC, which was a Klein TI220. The higher resolution and most importantly the ability to adjust the focus of the lens make this much better. The phone/tablet App is also a big step up from the Klein. I installed it on a Pixel 8 Pro and an iPad Air 5th gen. The functionality is superb. I probably need to 3D print a tripod mount to make full use of all those point/line/rectangle/circle measurement options, but that is for another day. Going by my IR thermometer and other gadgets at my disposal, the accuracy is also good. Assuming the usual +/- 2°C caused by emissivity, this is pretty good. Last but not least the image and video functions allows to add a date&timestamp and they don't force a brand name watermark onto it. Very much appreciated. ... show more

  • Best one on Amazon for mid-range use
Color: Black
This thing isn’t perfect, but I f***ing tried every damn iOS and Android smartphone thermal camera on here, and for my purposes, between the camera and the app (which is really limited for a lot of brands) this is by far the best. It doesn’t matter if you find one with a little higher resolution, if it doesn’t have manual focus it’s not going to be as detailed of an image as the P3. The only other I saw with manual focus was the Seek Compact, which I didn’t try, but I did try the Seek Nano 300 which is higher resolution, and the app was terrible and the image rapidly decayed until it calibrated again, which is ever 3 seconds. The only other camera that was better was by Mileseey long range camera, much higher resolution, but bc my use case is from 1-10 feet range, its field of view was too narrow for my purposes. Disclaimer - my use case was neither for super close up or long range so I didn’t test those circumstances. I’m also not concerned with high precision so long as the colors don’t change meaning on me. Brands I tried - Thermal Master, ANCEL, FLIR, foxwell, TopDon, Mileseey, HSF, Seek, Ampbank, HTI, Goyojo ... show more

  • Useful for qualitative thermal house inspections, but with practical annoyances in software
Color: Black
Overview -- I bought this camera to image outside my house for thermal heat leaks. Before I bought it, I read reviews about it and about cameras from other vendors. I bought this camera because its image pixel resolution was quoted as the highest, its build quality sounded to be the best, and its operation sounded to be the most reasonable. I tested the camera to image my house. My biggest surprise was how far I had to stand far back to get an image of any one full side of the house. In retrospect, this camera is touted to image objects close up. It is not marketed as a choice to image large structures (houses, cars, etc) as over-all objects. Lesson learned. My biggest frustration with the hardware is the difficulty in adjusting the focus. The software also has some serious pitfalls, but software might evolve. Specifics -- The camera is surprisingly small, yet not so small as to give any concerns about handling it easily. The build quality appears solid. The focus ring is somewhat difficult to grasp because it is narrow (thin) in depth. For objects beyond a few arms lengths away, I had difficulty determining when the object was in focus because of the low resolution of the image, especially on an iPhone screen. Objects within closer working distances go more easily in and out of focus as you rotate the focus ring. The camera is marketed for doing such close-up objects rather than for far away objects. I tested the camera on a standard sized iPad. The focus point for far away objects was easier to determine because the image size was larger on the iPad screen versus an iPhone screen. The trade off is that image pixelation was more apparent on the iPad versus the iPhone. In short, if you need to do thermal imaging of objects at varying distances beyond 3 - 4 arms lengths away, be prepared to practice to practice setting the focus point to give the objects their best appearance within the limits of low pixel resolution on iPhone/iPad sized screens. This issue might not be a deal breaker, especially for thermal cameras at this price range. The software is available at standard download locations for your smart phone. As of this review, the software has some annoying and potentially serious limitations. From my readings, other vendors also have problems with their software, and software can be updated over time. Take these next comments with these caveats in mind. * Start up always shows points of highest and lowest temperature on the image. I consider them a distraction. They cannot be toggled to stay off by default. * I saw no differences in image quality using the X3 toggle on or off. Not on my iPhone or iPad. I could not tell if this was because the expected change is below what can seen on an iPhone/iPad resolution or because the X3 toggle did not work with the software on my devices. * The image color range auto-scales to the highest - lowest temperatures in the view. In essence, every image will be displayed at the same brightness (hot) to darkness (cold) range regardless of whether the object view ranges 0 oc - 50 oC or ranges 48.7 oC - 62.4 oC. Bright red in one view may be 50 oC and in another 62.4 oC. A better approach would be to be able to lock the temperature range for a view and go from one physical location to another with that same image range. As it is now, you cannot expect that any one image view is showing the same full-scale temperature range as the previous one or next one. * The software has its own built-in tools for image analysis. I know a bit more about image analysis than your average person on the street, and I am not interested in playing finger games on tiny iPhone or iPad screens to draw lines, boxes, or circles. Unfortunately, the images are exported as compressed JPEG. Such format is great for showing pictures to the grandkids. It is a failure for anyone wanting to do off-line analysis in a precise qualitative or quantitative way. If you want to do something with the images off-line beyond showing them as pretty pictures, get a different camera. Or wait for the software to certify that it exports in a professional format (e.g. TIFF, a scientific standard for quantitative image analysis). Summary — Overall, this camera and its software are easy to use. The manual adjustments needed to focus do take practice, especially for imaging objects beyond a few arms lengths away. Setting an optimal focus is not helped by having images that are limited in pixel resolution. The camera software has annoying aspects. This is not (yet) a camera to buy if you intend to do professional work on the captured thermal images in an off-line mode. At this price range and for my needs (thermal house inspection), I would buy this camera again. ... show more

EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED. I USE IT FOR INSPECTING ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC DEVICES. VERY EASY TO USE. I HAD A PROTECTIVE RUBBER CASE AROUND MY SAMSUNG S23 ULTRA WHICH I HAD TO MODIFY AT THE BOTTOM SO THE CAMERA WOULD INSERT CORRECTLY BUT IT WAS A SMALL PROBLEM . • Highly useful, and great image quality
Color: Black
I'm very impressed with how well this camera works with iPhone. You plug it in, and once you have the app installed it auto launches the app and does an excellent job at the thermal imagery. You can easily see wall studs, roof trusses, and from the outside of the house you can even tell, through the siding, where the most heat leakage was. I found that the space in the floor joists between floors was a big source of heat loss. I'm almost positive they aren't insulated. Just amazing what you find when you have one of these. ... show more

  • Idk what is going on
Color: Black
This this is garbage. Has a problem with the image going in and out its has a loud click sound everythime it calibrates ever 5 seconds it seems. It worked prety good out the box buy after 15 min of use started acting funny and now sometimes youll see a weired shadow that messes with the image. To just losing image completely if its moved to quickly or bumped people have giid things to say about it but i see none of that. Only thing i can think is its this seller trying to pass of defective units as new. All reserch i did and videos i watched made this look like it was excatly what i needed. Its been nothing but a problem ... show more

  • Most competitive thermal camera Most competitive thermal camera
Color: Black
The thermal camera is very good for its price. It is cheaper than a flir while having a better sensor. The flir uses a second camera to overlay lines to make a thermal image “sharp”. Without it, it would be a blob. Theres no trickery to this thermal camera, its just that sharp. Second thing is the thermal sensitivity, 35mk is good, better than all at this price. Only those at the kilobuck range have better sensitivity. The fps is good, you’re not looking at a slideshow using it. I’ve used it to look for pipes inside walls and find leaks. Other use case is finding air gaps and insulation. ... show more
