This review is for OXO Good Grips Pro 12" Frying Pan Skillet, 3-Layered German Engineered Nonstick Coating, Dishwasher Safe, Oven Safe, Stainless Steel Handle, Black. I purchased this for a house member who really likes nonstick cookware. I ordered this one, because Cook's Illustrated America's Test Kitchen rated it the best. It's a very nice pan, and we have used it many times so far. The nonstick surface is holding up very well, and it is definitely nonstick. We have cooked eggs, meat, chicken, fish, and other items in it. Nothing stuck to the pan. We only hand wash it, and we only use non-metal utensils with it. The weight of the pan is good, and the handle is comfortable and ergonomic. All-in-all this is a great pan if you are looking for something nonstick. A side note about nonstick pans: I am generally not a fan of nonstick pans. I don't like cooking with something that is a part of planned obsolescence. All nonstick cookware slowly starts to wear down with use. It is just the nature of it. So, eventually all nonstick cookware has to be replaced, as eventually it will lose its nonstick properties. This brings me to the other part that I don't like. Nonstick cookware uses chemical products to make it nonstick, and those chemicals wind up in your food. Reports claim the chemicals are safe, but you have to judge your level of confidence in the reports. I don't see a benefit to having added chemicals in my food. Also, you can't use metal utensils with nonstick pans, as the metal will damage the nonstick coating. This generally means one set of non-metal cooking utensils and a separate set of metal utensils to use with your standard cookware. So, I have two sets of cooking utensils. Also, different nonstick cookware will have different maximum temperature ratings. This pan is rated up to 430 F degrees. If you go above that you breakdown the chemical nonstick coating, which not only ruins the nonstick coating, but it also puts those chemicals into your food. I once had a different brand of nonstick pan many years ago that I cooked an omelette in. The nonstick coating had broken down and left all sorts of black flakes on my omelette, so both the omelette and pan went into the garbage. Personally, I prefer to go with a high-quality, multi-clad, stainless steel set of pots & pans that I can use any utensils on that I like and will last me forever. However, if you are going to purchase a nonstick pan this one is an excellent choice because it is a good pan and at a good price point for replacement.

My boyfriend loves cooking and he gets a new 12 inch frying pan every year either for Christmas or his birthday. I’ve tried so many different brands and this is his favorite one so far! The nonstick coating seems a lot better than other brands so far. We use it every day and so far there are no scratches and it is so easy to clean! As long as it continues to last, I’m sure we will be purchasing this brand again!

For years, my husband and I have daily cooked with a set of Oxo non-stick coated skillets -- 8" and 10" -- replacing them every two or three years when the surface began to degrade. The price was modest so it wasn't much of a hardship to replace them regularly. But recently we discovered these Oxo ceramic hard-anodized skillets -- 8", 10", and 12" -- and we will never return to the old, coated ones again. These pans are amazingly easy to clean. No matter what we cook, the foods slide off this surface -- cheese, eggs, fried fish, fried rice, browned meats, whatever! A quick swish with a soapy dish rag and the pan is clean. A quick swipe with a dry dishcloth and the pan is ready to return to storage or to be used again. An added advantage is that the pans can go into a 430 oven for final cooking, if needed. When we bought the 12" , we got the one with the glass lid because [surprisingly] it was cheaper to buy it with the lid than the pan alone [go figure]. I read all the reviews and I see where some buyers lament that the surface on these pans also deteriorates over time. We don't put these pans in the dishwasher because, frankly, there's no need so perhaps the ceramic surface will last a bit longer for us. No matter. The ease of use and cleaning is enough to insure that we'll use these pans as long as we can and replace them with the same, if/when needed. We can highly recommend.

I really like this pan. I currently own the 8, 10 and 12" OXO frying pan and am happy with them all. This is my second 10" pan. The first lasted about a year before losing its non-stick. That actually sounds bad, but the pan was used all the time. My son eats 5 small meals a day and this pan might be used 2 or 3 times a day. He has a tendency to cook with higher heat than needed and he uses cooking spray like its going out of style. When I received this new pan, I noticed it had a sticker declaring not to use cooking spray and not to use high heat. I do not remember the first one having that sticker, but figured that was what killed the pan. Anyway, the non-stick on this is great. I have been cooking for 40+ years and have used many different brands of frying pans, from cheap Walmart brand to Calphalon and the Oxo is definitely my favorite. In terms of cost, they are in the middle of the pack, but they perform better than the much more expensive Calphalon pans that I have owned. Build quality is top notch. The pans are light, even the 12" pan, which is a huge bonus for my wife. I would most likely use Cast Iron for all my frying pan needs if they weren't so heavy. My wife won't touch them. My son recently bought a ridiculously overprice Made In stainless steel pan. It cost 2.5 times more than the Oxo and he still uses my Oxo more than his Made In. Generally, I can use a paper towel to clean these pans of debris. the Made In, no chance. That thing is a pain in the butt to clean. Don't believe the hype with pans like Made In or Hexclad. I have used Oxo brand utensils for years and have been happy with them. I didn't know the pans existed because none of my local stores sell them. I found out about them from America's Test Kitchen. They were their best pick. Project Farm also did a review of frying pans and rated the Oxo a very close second to the winner. Where has Hexclad? Below the Oxo, but more than 3 times the price. I don't think I'll buy anything but Oxo frying pans from now on.

I just received this pan and only used it once for eggs, but I wanted to address the balance issue that some people were having. The first thing I did before even washing this pan is to check the balance of the pan and handle. This was my number one concern after reading mixed reviews on that feature alone. I have a coil stove, and this pan sits perfectly level, even when empty. So whatever they did to improve the pan seems to have fixed the issue. The instructions that came with the pan are very helpful. If you take the time to read and follow the instructions, you should be able to keep the pan performing well for years (at least, that’s the hope). One thing I will point out from my reading is that although it states the pan is dishwasher safe, they don’t recommend washing in the dishwasher because detergents tend to be high in alkaline and other chemicals that can separate the nonstick coating. Good to know. Also, it states that mild scratches can develop with use, but will not decrease overall performance. Also good to know. Overall, I do like this pan. It’s well balanced, and my eggs slid out just fine after cooking. I plan to follow the instructions, and only wash it in the dishwasher once in a while. Time will tell if it holds up. Update, a few months later: I really like this pan. So much so, that I bought a couple of different sizes after trying it out. All of them (up to the 12” size) sit flat on my not-so-level coil stove. No scratches to speak of, looks like new. And nothing tends to stick, unless I burn cheese or something on it. Even then, a little scraping with something plastic (never, ever use metal) takes the remnants of my grilled cheese sandwich right off. No wonder it’s recc by Americas Test Kitchen!

Love this frying pan. It has an excellent non-stick surface and browns fish and steaks beautifully. At first, I thought it was a little too shallow, but it actually turned out to be an advantage. The lower sides make it much easier to flip and stir food without burning my fingers, which often happens with my deeper frying pans.

You should know this before you buy this pan. It has radically changed in the last few years. My first experience with this pan was really good. It was clearly incredibly made. Nothing used to stick to it and it never scratched. I wasn't particularly knowledgeable about pans so I didn't care much for it, used it on high heat and cleaned it with the rough side of the sponge. But it still lasted 3 years without sticking. So I came back and bought it recently, and decided to treat it better. Low heat, used oil, never harsh scrubbing. But to my surprise, and only within 3 months of use, food sticks in the worst way. I can't properly make an omelet or use it for anything. The worst part is that since Amazon's return window has passed, I contacted the manufacturer directly. But they demanded all kinds of proof that the product is visibly defective. I can't show a defect since the product "looks" fine. It just doesn't function. It's a non-stick pan that..sticks. So this is my response, throwing it out there for those who are about to pay twice as much as this pan cost 2 years ago to get a useless product. It's really unfortunate how greed has destroyed what had been a great product. OXO, it would have cost you nothing to properly handle my ticket. I hope you don't see another dime from selling this junk.

I just got this pan and after one use I can see that it’s going to be my new favorite. The non stick worked perfectly, the cleanup was one wipe with a paper towel and my omelet slid right onto,the plate.
