I bought this outdoor smart outlet situation for my outdoor holiday lights. I wanted something simple and affordable without a bunch of unnecessary features, except that HomeKit compatibility and reliability were important. I like my tech straightforward but sturdy and this smart outdoor outlet worked perfectly. I never had any issues with connectivity or response time (although it isn’t far from a WiFi access point), and it got several firmware updates over the time I’ve had it set up which indicates to me that Meross is on top of things. I hate that I have to create a Meross login if I want to use their app, which you must do if you want firmware updates, but everything is like that, now. This thing doesn’t have Matter capability and that’s fine for me since I have HomeKit, and that’s also partly what kept the price low. You might want to look for one with Matter if you aren’t sure which digital ecosystem you want to use or if you think you might want to switch it up. This thing was a great deal for a HomeKit setup and I’d absolutely recommend it. ... show more

Used this smart plug for holiday lights from October through January 1 and it worked perfectly. Easy to control through the app but I added it to Homekit and setup automation. It took less than five minutes to figure out and I am not a "techie". Love the plug so much that we are going to replace our old traditional timers that control some of our deck lighting withe the smart plug. Highly recommend this product! ... show more

I bought one of these last year for Christmas lights, and it was nice to use HomeKit on my phone to turn the lights off remotely. After I took down the lights, I realized I could use the Meross Smart Plug for something else. I have a security camera on my back porch that liked to go offline at least once a day. I was getting tired of going out to the porch, unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, then plugging it back in. So, I plugged it into the Meross Smart Plug and was able to do it remotely from my phone.     • Random turn ons?
Generally, the installation was easy and largely does what’s expected. Only have one outlet in use with some string lights on my deck. But they will randomly turn on at times when connected to Alexa, which we are unable to explain don’t know if it’s glitches or something on the powerline, but seems to happen a couple of times a week annoying but not showstopper. Would love to know if there’s a firmware update that I am missing, but haven’t found anything on the web to that end. ... show more

I ordered this to control my outdoor halloween and Christmas lights. I spent 3 hours trying everything in the book (and on their website) to get it to connect to Homekit--or even connect at all. It is junk and I am returning it. Oh, and there is NO support available except email...and I doubt that I'll ever hear from them. Grrrrr. Here's an update. After I posted this review (and returned the product) the customer service people at Meross got in touch with me. Over a period of several days--and attempts to make the Homekit connection work--they sent me another Smart Plug to try. That one, too, would not connect. After multiple email exchanges (and with a lot of fooling around with alternative ways to connect) I was able get get the plug to work. I sent a note to Meross informing them of my workaround. Amazingly, a few days ago I received notice that for my troubles they were sending me a refund of half the purchase price. The customer service person continued to write me to make sure I was satisfied with their offer. Anyway, the plug has been rock solid in connecting to Homekit ever since, which is more than I can say for some switches and dimmers that I have on my network. Hats off to Meross for their persistence in making this right. They have also promised to update the instructions for Homekit. ... show more

This is our second one of these that we have ordered. The first one lasted quite a few years, which I consider a success considering it was exposed to the extreme hot and cold temps of the northeast. This smart plug works with both Apple and Google, and also has its own standalone app. There are three outlets within the device, and they can be controlled individually within the different apps. We've been very happy with Meross outlets in general, and like that they are compatible with both Apple and Google. ... show more

    • Programmable Individual plug control from your iPhone
This smart plug-in was very easy to install. I had to download one app and after setting up the connection I was able to add it to the home button on my iPhone. I like that I can control each individual plug-in. I can leave them off all of the time or on all the time, plus I have one of the plug-ins programmed to turn on and off on sunrise and Sunset. I’ve had no issues with Weather affecting this item, although mine is located on a covered porch. ... show more
